
Schalke appoint Plymouth boss Muslic as head coach
Schalke have appointed Plymouth Argyle boss Miron Muslic as their head coach on a two-year deal.The Pilgrims said on Wednesday that the 42-year-old Bosnian-born Austrian would not return to the club after the summer break.Muslic replaced former England captain Wayne Rooney as Argyle boss in mid-January, with Plymouth bottom of the Championship.He was unable to stop the club from being relegated from the second tier, despite masterminding a famous FA Cup win over Premier League champions Liverpool.Muslic joins a Schalke side who finished 14th in the German second tier this season - the club that was a regular in the Champions League and Europa League for the first two decades of this century will start a fourth season in the past five outside of the Bundesliga.
"My thanks go first to Plymouth Argyle, who made it possible for me to hold talks with FC Schalke 04," said Muslic."I'm also very grateful to all those at Schalke for placing their trust in me. From the very first contact, we had open and honest discussions."The former Cercle Bruges boss signed a three-and-a-half year contract when he moved to Home Park, and reports in Germany suggest Argyle will receive 1m euros (£840,000) in compensation.BBC Sport understands Argyle have already begun the search for their new head coach and have held exploratory talks with a number of potential candidates.Muslic replaces Dutch coach Kees van Wonderen, who was sacked earlier this month.In a short statement Argyle said: "We wish Miron all the best for his future endeavours"

'Darkest days' for father of missing Katrice Lee
The father of a two-year-old girl who vanished in 1981 has revealed how his vow to solve the mystery led him away from thoughts of trace has ever been found of Katrice Lee, who went missing on her birthday near a military base in Germany where her father Richard was an episode of the new BBC podcast Katrice Lee: A Father's Story, he reveals how he contemplated taking his own life, but instead promised Katrice's sister, Natasha Walker, that he would continue his fight for Walker, who lives in Hampshire, said the podcast revealed her father's "darkest days". Authorities in Germany were initially suspicious of her parents and also speculated that Katrice had wandered unchallenged to the River Lippe and Mr Lee, from Hartlepool, said the case should have been treated as a possible told the programme: "It was a nightmare that I didn't think would still be a nightmare 42 years later. I've never left day one in reality."In 2012, Royal Military Police apologised for mistakes in their initial years later, the force revealed that a man had been seen putting a child into a green car in the same area on the same day of Katrice's information, which the force had received in 1981, led to a five-week excavation by soldiers of a site in Germany but no trace of the girl was found. The podcast reveals Mr Lee's emotions, in interviews recorded at different points over the last 44 said: "I went down some very dark routes and very dark avenues. And at my lowest point, I actually thought about suicide. "My choice was to continue the fight. I made a promise and that's what brought me out of the darkness."I made a promise to Natasha that I would continue the fight to get answers until I can no longer fight."Ms Walker said: "It can be at times very difficult to listen to your parents breaking their hearts on this podcast. "But then when you have an opportunity to raise awareness again that your sister is still missing, obviously you're going to do everything that you can."In a statement, the Ministry of Defence said: "Our thoughts and sympathies remain with Katrice Lee's family and if anyone has any new information relating to the disappearance of Katrice they can contact us." KKR raises conditional offer for German IT services firm Datagroup
June 1 (Reuters) - Frankfurt-listed IT services provider Datagroup SE ( opens new tab said on Sunday that KKR (KKR.N), opens new tab has made a conditional proposal to increase the potential acquisition offer to up to 58 euros ($65.84) per share. KKR initially offered 54 euros per share in an all-cash transaction valuing Datagroup at approximately 450 million euros. Under the revised terms, the offer price will rise to 56.50 euros a share if the bidder secures at least 80% of outstanding shares and if it reaches 90%, the offer will stand at 58 euros per share. If neither of these thresholds is met, the original offer price will remain unchanged, the statement said, adding that the acceptance period runs until June 6, 2025. KKR also explicitly ruled out a further increase of the offer price. Datagroup will delist from the stock exchange once the purchase is settled, with closing expected in the third quarter of 2025. The IT services provider has about 3,700 employees at locations across Germany and expects revenue to grow to between 545 million euros and 565 million euros in the current year, the company said in March. Bayer Leverkusen interested in TWO Liverpool stars as Erik ten Hag's side consider asking for a player in talks over £110m Florian Wirtz deal
Liverpool are continuing talks for Leverkusen midfielder Florian Wirtz after offering £109m for the Germany international and the German club are considering whether to ask for a player in return. Mail Sport understands the Reds are close to demolishing the British transfer record for the Bayer Leverkusen star, who has made it clear he wants to move to Anfield. Leverkusen want £126million for the 22-year-old but it is understood that middle ground will be found quickly. The Bundesliga outfit are are now discussing the possibility of bringing a Liverpool player to the BayArena as part of the deal. Harvey Elliott and Jarell Quansah are both admired by Leverkusen, who finished second in the German top flight this season. Liverpool also plan to finalise a £40m deal for Bournemouth left-back Milos Kerkez. The Reds have also agreed an £18million deal with Brentford to sell goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher. The Republic of Ireland international will replace Mark Flekken who is joining Bayer Leverkusen for £9million. Kelleher, 26, only had one year left on his contract and Liverpool were looking for around £20m for the dependable stopper. It's set to be an extremely active summer in the market for the Reds, who have already finalised the signing of Leverkusen star Jeremie Frimpong after activating his £29.5million release clause. Meanwhile, Trent Alexander-Arnold's departure to Real Madrid has now been confirmed.
