Legendary ITV detective drama returning to screens - with filming about to kick off on brand new series

Legendary and long-standing ITV series Grantchester is set to return to screens. The hit ITV detective drama first aired more than a decade ago in 2014 and fans have since been gripped by nine series. A tenth season has just been released for US viewers, but a date for UK fans is yet to be confirmed. With Robson Green and Rishi Nair leading as DI Geordie Keating and Reverend Alphy Kottaram, Grantchester follows the pair as they work together to solve crimes. Despite the tenth yet to hit screens in the UK, filming for the 11th instalment is reportedly set to begin next month. The cast also includes Only Fools and Horses star Tessa Peake-Jones as Mrs C and Downton Abbey actor Oliver Dimsdale as Daniel Marlowe. While Al Weaver plays Leonard Finch and EastEnders star Kacey Ainsworth portrays Cathy Keating. Bradley Hall, Melissa Johns and Nick Brimble also star. Earlier this year, Grantchester fans were left in tears after Reverend Will Davenport bid farewell following five years on the show, with some saying it had 'been a while since I cried as hard as that'. The second episode of its ninth season featured a major plot twist and saw Will, who is played by Tom Brittney, and DI Geordie Keating set out to investigate another death in the village. The pair were left puzzled when an abandoned baby was found on the same day that a hotel manager in the area died. But it was the departure of fan favourite Will which caused the biggest stir, with social media awash with emotional viewers. Tom joined the popular show to play the new lead character for its fourth series in 2019 after roles in Outlander, The Syndicate and Humans. He made the decision to leave the show in 2023, explaining that it was 'time for the baton to be passed'. The instalment saw Will and Geordie set out to investigate another death in the village and the next will see Rishi Nair (right) arrive as Revd Alphy Kotteram Fans of Grantchester were emotional, however, following the airing of his final episode, with one gutted fan taking to X to say: 'I'm 29 years old and it's been a while since I cried at a TV show as hard as that.' Another posted, '#Will and #Geordie's friendship is beautiful. And watching Will leave is the heartbreaking evening I was completely not ready for.' A third added: 'Wow, Geordie to Will "I love you" and Will "I love you too". And he made Geordie proud every day.' Grantchester is available to stream on ITVX.

Loose Women CANCELLED in yet another ITV schedule shake-up set to infuriate fans

Loose Women has been cancelled in yet another ITV schedule shake-up set to infuriate fans. The programme usually airs Monday to Friday from 12:30pm to 1:30pm on the popular channel. Unfortunately though, Loose Women fans will have to wait six days to get their next instalment. Today's (17 June 2025) This Morning, presented by Cat Deeley, 48, and Ben Shephard, 50, will air for an extra 30 minutes, meaning that the show will wrap up with 1pm. That will be followed by the ITV Lunchtime News and ITV News London. Then ITV's coverage of the Royal Ascot will be on the channel from 1:30pm to 6pm. At the end of Monday's episode, host Ruth Langsford, 65, said: 'That's it from us today, I'm afraid and actually it gets worse... 'We're not on all week!' She continued: 'ITV's coverage of Ascot will be on, but we will be next Monday, same time 12:30pm, until then, have a lovely week. 'Enjoy the sunshine if you have it. Bye! This is not the first time that Loose Women have been cancelled in recent weeks. The episode due to air on June 6 didn't air due to ITV airing the first Derby meeting from Epsom races. After Kaye Adam's co-stars Frankie Bridge, 36, Nadia Sawalha, 60, and Kelly Brook, 45, showed viewers how they sleep at night, Kaye said: 'Well thank God I'm going! That's it for today and this week sadly. 'We're off tomorrow for the racing. 'We've got a great line-up next week though, including Cheshire housewife Tanya Bardsley, 44, Atomic Kitten's Liz, 44. 'She shares a very personal health story. Plus Si King, 58, and Alison Hammond, 50, are here too. 'We will see you Monday. Have a great weekend!' Loose Women hit headlines recently after it was revealed the panel show, along with Lorraine, will be axed for half the year. ITV announced the big shake up to its daytime schedule amid huge cuts last month. Loose Women will only air for 30 weeks of the year. Furthermore, MailOnline recently revealed that ITV will axe a vital part of the show which viewers love in a desperate bid to save money. The series is scrapping its live studio audience when the programme airs with a reduced schedule of just 30 episodes next year. Bosses have got rid of the studio audience to save costs, with insiders revealing that it's an expensive feature due to being managed by an external company, who also provides security and a warmup person, but for the presenters, it's going to be a 'disaster.' A TV source told MailOnline: 'The panelists are really upset over the decision to axe the live studio audience from the show. 'It's what sets the series apart from the rest of ITV daytime and now there are massive fears that viewers will switch off completely. 'The only concern now is to cut costs and having a live studio audience can be expensive, with the added need for security and a warmup artist. 'Presenters already know how it feels to broadcast the show without an audience because that's what happened during the pandemic, and they all know it creates low mood and lack of atmosphere.' Meanwhile Kaye Adams has broken her silence on the brutal ITV cuts. She admitted that she's suffered 'sleepless nights' after her 'life imploded' and 'has no idea what's going to happen.' She told her How To Be 60 podcast co-host Karen MacKenzie: 'To be perfectly honest, we have no idea at this point, what's going to happen. 'I didn't anticipate it, which is probably stupid in retrospect. You get into a sort of rhythm of life. 'I had a couple of sleepless nights I have to say, because it's just like the rug's been pulled from under your feet – what has been familiar.' She continued: 'It's going to have an impact. Lots of people will lose their jobs completely which is terrible. It's a huge change.' Loose Women airs weekdays on ITV1 from 12:30pm and is available to stream on ITVX.
