
UAE offers condolences to Lebanon over soldiers killed in Tyre explosion
The explosion resulted in the death and injury of a number of soldiers.
In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed its sincere condolences to the families and relatives of the victims, and to the government and people of Lebanon, wishing a speedy recovery for the injured.
The explosion occurred on Saturday, when the soldiers were inspecting a weapons depot and dismantling its contents.
An investigation was underway to determine the cause of the blast which killed six soldiers, the army added in a statement.
Security sources told Reuters that the explosion was caused by "remnants of the Israeli war" in the coastal city.

Iraq considers oil exports via Lebanon's Tripoli port, to study reviving Iraq-Syria pipeline
Iraq's oil ministry is considering exporting oil through Lebanon's Tripoli port and will study reviving the dormant Iraq-Syria oil export pipeline, it said on Tuesday. The ministry plans to form a joint committee to assess the pipeline's condition. The announcement came during a visit by Syria's energy minister to Baghdad to discuss cooperation in oil, gas and energy. Dubai Customs seizes over 6 million fake cigarettes in 35-tonne bust
Dubai Customs has seized over 35 tonnes of counterfeit, smuggled, and non-compliant goods over the course of three months since the start of 2025. In a tweet on Tuesday, Dubai Customs said that this was the "largest operation of its kind since the start of 2025" and took place across the air cargo centres of the city. The authority, in the campaign, recorded more than 12 million smuggled cigarettes, 6.7 million counterfeit cigarettes, 37,110 cosmetics that do not conform to terms and conditions, 3,632 undeclared electronic parts and 10,520 counterfeit items of international brands. In 2024, Dubai Customs recorded 54 seizures involving 10.8 million counterfeit items, as part of its efforts to protect intellectual property rights. This campaign is part of the authority's continuous efforts to safeguard the nation's borders, combat all forms of smuggling and commercial fraud, and protect the health, safety, and economic interests of the community.
