Making five successful Guinness World Records is a special feeling: Janvi Jindal
In later years, she practised skating at Sector 22 market and the Rose Garden Underpass. Earlier this week, when the 17-year-old Chandigarh skater received the successful confirmation of her five Guinness World Records attempted last year at Rose Garden Underpass, she headed to the Rose Garden Underpass to celebrate with her proud parents watching.
'When I told my father to get me skates as an eight-year-old, it was only my love for adventure activities. He would learn the basics of roller freestyle skating and inline freestyle skating from YouTube and make me practice at the Sector 22 market. Initially, I would fall 40-50 times in a day, but I kept practising. Achieving five Guinness World Records is a truly special feeling for all of us. I dedicate these records to my parents,' Janvi, a student of Government Model Senior Secondary School at Sector 16, told The Indian Express.
The youngster attempted for the world record for most 360-degree rotations on inline skates in 30 seconds (27 spins), fastest slalom (20 cones) on inline skates on two wheels (8.85 seconds), most one-wheeled 360-degree spins in 30 seconds (42 spins), most one-wheeled 360-degree spins in one minute (72 spins) and most consecutive one-wheeled 360-degree spins and completed the first record on July 28, 2024, and other four records on September 15 last year.
In 2019, she first won a medal at the national level in the 57th National Roller-Skating Championship at Visakhapatnam in 2019. Janvi won the gold in the Roller Freestyle event in the 2019 nationals and would follow that with a gold in Roller Freestyle and a bronze in Inline Freestyle at the 58th National Roller-Skating Championship in Chandigarh the following year. Janvi would then win a bronze each in Inline Freestyle in the nationals in Mohali in 2021 and Bengaluru in 2022, respectively. Last year, too, Janvi won the bronze in the Inline Freestyle event in nationals in Bengaluru.
'When I started skating, my interest was in roller freestyle as well as inline freestyle, as I did not show much interest in roller hockey and speed skating. I wanted to do more creative things in skating, which roller freestyle and inline freestyle offer. Yes, it needs practice as well as spending time on other things like yoga and gym but then showing my creativity over skates gives me a lot of satisfaction,' says Janvi, who has also been honoured by the Yoga Association of India.
With inline freestyle skating being part of the Asian Games, the Chandigarh youngster does want to represent India at the international level one day and win medals for the country. 'Competing in other international competitions requires a lot of financial support, and I am keen to improve as an inline freestyle skater. I saw inline freestyle skaters competing in the 2023 Hangzhou Asian Games on TV, and I want to compete for India in the Asian Games one day,' she says.

Think before you speak, Karma hits instantly: Ashwin on Stokes' comments on injury substitution
India coach Gautam Gambhir had subsequently called for the introduction of injury replacements in Test cricket, a suggestion that Stokes dismissed, terming it 'absolutely ridiculous.' However, in the fifth Test at The Oval, England faced a similar situation when Woakes suffered a fractured shoulder but still came out to bat on the final day with England nine wickets down and needing fewer than 20 runs to win. India wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant had retired hurt on the first day of the drawn fourth Test at Manchester but returned to bat the next day despite scans confirming a fracture in his right foot. New Delhi, Aug 6 (PTI) Former India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has criticised Ben Stokes for his dismissive remarks on injury substitutions, saying the England captain should 'think before speaking', as 'karma' came back to haunt them when they were left a batter short following Chris Woakes' shoulder niggle in the fifth Test. 'I want to talk about another imperfection in this series. There's a Tamil saying that loosely translates to 'Your karma will affect you almost instantly'. What you sow is what you reap,' Ashwin said on his YouTube channel 'Ash Ki Baat'. 'After the last Test, there were questions asked about the injury to Pant. Gautam Gambhir said that such injuries need a substitution. And when Stokes was asked about this response, he simply brushed it away, calling it a joke. I am a big fan of Stokes' cricketing abilities and his attitude. But he can think and then reply.' Highlighting Woakes' determination to continue batting despite his injury, Ashwin added, 'He was ready to give his life to win the game for his team, and almost did it too. He had the game awareness to run and give the strike to Atkinson. Hats off to Chris Woakes. Remarkable attitude, and a remarkable way to step out for your team, and put your body on the line.' Ashwin also referenced former England captain Michael Vaughan's comments on the need for cricket's rules to evolve. 'Michael Vaughan said this is one area where the game can evolve. Substitutions should be allowed. All I'm saying is: show a little empathy for the other team. Stokes should have considered what it would be like if a player of Rishabh Pant's calibre was in his team and got injured. 'Wouldn't you want a substitution? Wouldn't that be fair? You are free to share your opinion — but using words like 'joke' and 'ridiculous' isn't respectful. Think before you speak. Karma hits instantly,' he added. Karma hits instantly: R Ashwin on Ben Stokes labelling injury substitutes as joke
Former India cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin has slammed England skipper Ben Stokes for his remarks on the injury substitution debate, calling his words disrespectful and lacking empathy. Ashwin also brought up the idea of karma, saying what you give is what you get, and that Stokes should've been more thoughtful with his response. Stokes' remarks came after Rishabh Pant was hit on his toe by a crushing full-toss from Chris Woakes in the first innings of the Manchester Test, leaving him in extreme pain and forcing him to be taken off the field on a golf India losing a batter of such stature in a crucial game, cricket pundits had their say about the introduction of injury replacements in Test cricket. While some argued that the extent of damage caused by the injury could turn out to be a grey area, India's head coach Gautam Gambhir spoke in support of the introduction of the new law. Ashwin too raised questions over the injury concerns around Rishabh Pant, especially in context of the conversation sparked by Gambhir. When opposition captain Stokes was asked to respond, he dismissed it as a 'joke,' a reaction that didn't sit well with Ashwin.'I want to talk about another imperfection in this series. There's a Tamil saying that loosely translates to 'Your karma will affect you almost instantly'. What you sow is what you reap. I am a big fan of Stokes' cricketing abilities and his attitude. But he can think and then reply. All I'm saying is: show a little empathy for the other team. Using words like 'joke' and 'ridiculous' isn't respectful. Think before you speak. Karma hits instantly,' Ashwin said on his YouTube show Ash Ki Baat, urging the England captain to be more shows heart but England's intent draws Ashwin's criticism The veteran off-spinner also pointed to Chris Woakes' gritty appearance in the final Test. With England losing the key wickets of Joe Root and Jacob Bethell in the fag end of Day 4, India sensed an opening. A spirited spell from the duo of Mohd. Siraj and Prasidh Krishna rattled England's tail, and with No.10 Josh Tongue being clean bowled, all eyes were on the English balcony, where a gutsy Chris Woakes walked in with his dislocated left arm in a sling, wrapped under his sweater. The Oval crowd was on its feet to salute the valour of Woakes, who was giving his all for the team.'Chris Woakes walked in with his shoulder tucked inside his sweater. And was ready to give his life to win the game for his team, and almost did it too. He had the game awareness to run and give the strike to Atkinson. Hats off to Chris Woakes. Remarkable attitude, and a remarkable way to step out for your team, and put your body on the line,' Ashwin England skipper Michael Vaughan also commented on the need for evolution in cricket rules, voicing his say in favour of injury replacements. After the Oval loss, Stokes stood firm in his words about the same, after his team was possibly marred by the absence of all-rounder Chris Woakes for three innings of the game."I don't see it being a thing. Sorry about this, but if somebody gets injured, tough thing," said Stokes in the post-match press conference after the Oval Test.- EndsMust Watch
