Thoma Bravo Is Said to Be in Talks to Buy Software Firm Dayforce
(Bloomberg) -- Thoma Bravo is in talks to acquire human resources management software provider Dayforce Inc., according to people familiar with the matter. The buyout firm is planning to take the Minneapolis-based company private in a deal that could be announced as soon as the coming weeks, the people said, asking not to be identified as the matter is private. The company, whose shares also trade on the Toronto Stock Exchange, had a market value of about $8.4 billion at the close on Friday. While discussions are advanced, they could still be delayed or falter and it's possible another bidder may emerge, the people said. Representatives for Thoma Bravo and Dayforce didn't immediately respond to requests for comment. Dayforce shares have fallen about 60% from their 2021 peak through Friday. While the company increased revenue more than 70% between 2021 and 2024 and became more profitable, the enterprise software market has had difficulties maintaining momentum after a runup during Covid-19 lockdowns. Companies spent money at the time to upgrade their systems, only to pull back after offices reopened in a shaky economy. 'We would not be surprised if DAY chose to sell given the lack of appreciation for the stock in the public markets,' Jefferies Financial Group Inc. analysts including Samad Samana wrote in a note to clients after the Bloomberg report. 'It has been tough sledding for DAY the last few years post-Covid highs, not unlike the rest of the HR/payroll coverage universe. However, it has also underperformed the entire group.' Thoma Bravo, led by co-founder Orlando Bravo, has remained an active buyer this year in what has remained a challenging environment for private equity firms seeking to deploy capital. It agreed to purchase Boeing Co.'s flight navigation unit and other digital assets for $10.6 billion in April, and in July it struck a $2 billion deal to buy restaurant software maker Olo Inc. The firm has been in talks about a potential takeover of Verint Systems Inc., Bloomberg News reported last month. Dayforce, which rebranded from Ceridian HCM Holding Inc. last year, provides AI-powered software for managing recruitment, payrolls and employee career development. Its customers include companies in the health-care, retail and hospitality and financial services sectors. With about $1.2 billion in debt, the company has an enterprise value of more than $9 billion, according to data compiled by Bloomberg. --With assistance from Amy Thomson. China Ramps Up Rare Earth Exports After Fright For Global Buyers
(Bloomberg) -- China's exports of rare earth products — including magnets — extended their recovery in July, months after Beijing threatened a disruptive global shortage by crimping supplies to fight a trade clash with US President Donald Trump. Shipments jumped last month to reach their highest since January, well before China leveraged its dominance of rare earths to hit back at Trump's punitive tariffs. Beijing agreed to resume flows to the US as part of a trade truce with Washington. The US-Canadian Road Safety Gap Is Getting Wider A Photographer's Pipe Dream: Capturing New York's Vast Water System Festivals and Parades Are Canceled Amid US Immigration Anxiety A London Apartment Tower With Echoes of Victorian Rail and Ancient Rome Princeton Plans New Budget Cuts as Pressure From Trump Builds Data released Monday covers rare earth products, a category typically dominated by so-called permanent magnets. Volumes sold overseas rose 69% to 6,422 tons in July, according to Bloomberg News calculations. China produces about 90% of the world's rare-earth magnets and its export controls launched in early April threatened to deprive major manufacturers from India to Europe and the US of a small but critical component. The US has since unveiled plans to boost domestic output of rare earths and magnets. Exports from China reached a low in May after China launched the curbs, which covered shipments of seven rare earths as well as products made from them. US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer said earlier this month that China was 'about halfway there' in terms of returning magnet supplies to where they were prior to the controls. China's weaponization of rare earths didn't just affect the US, and the slump in supplies also contributed to growing tensions between the European Union and China. More granular data on exports of magnets, and the countries to which they were shipped, should be released on Wednesday. (Adds details throughout. Asia-Pacific Electric Toothbrush Market Outlook Report to 2030, By Country, Competition, Forecast & Opportunities
The Asia-Pacific electric toothbrush market thrives on opportunities like rising oral health awareness, tech innovations, and increasing disposable incomes. Smart features integrated into toothbrushes appeal to tech-savvy and health-conscious consumers. However, high costs pose adoption challenges in price-sensitive regions. Asia-Pacific Electric Toothbrush Market Dublin, Aug. 18, 2025 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The "Asia-Pacific Electric Toothbrush Market, By Country, Competition, Forecast & Opportunities, 2020-2030F" has been added to offering. The Asia-Pacific Electric Toothbrush Market was valued at USD 1.48 Billion in 2024, and is expected to reach USD 2.77 Billion by 2030, rising at a CAGR of 11.07%. Technological innovation has been a key driver in the adoption of electric toothbrushes across the region. Features such as multiple brushing modes, pressure sensors, and timers have enhanced the efficacy and user experience of these devices. Additionally, the integration of smart technologies, including app connectivity and real-time feedback, has appealed to tech-savvy consumers, further boosting market growth. Rising disposable incomes, particularly in emerging markets like China and India, have enabled consumers to invest in premium oral care products. As urbanization accelerates and lifestyles become more fast-paced, the demand for efficient and time-saving dental care solutions has increased. Electric toothbrushes, with their superior plaque removal capabilities and user-friendly features, have become a preferred choice among consumers seeking effective oral hygiene solutions. Projections indicate that consumer spending in India will increase to USD 4.3 trillion by 2030, up from USD 2.4 trillion in 2024. This growth is primarily driven by the expanding middle and upper-middle-income population, resulting in greater purchasing power and higher discretionary spending. Market Drivers Rising Awareness of Oral Hygiene and Preventive Dental Care: The growing emphasis on personal health and wellness has significantly increased awareness of oral hygiene across the Asia-Pacific region. Consumers are becoming more educated about the long-term benefits of maintaining proper oral care routines, leading to a shift from traditional manual toothbrushes to more advanced and effective solutions like electric toothbrushes. Dental professionals increasingly recommend electric toothbrushes due to their superior plaque removal and ability to improve gum health, further validating their usage among health-conscious individuals. Governments and health organizations are also playing a crucial role by promoting oral health through educational campaigns and public health initiatives. For instance, awareness programs targeting school children and rural populations have contributed to a broader understanding of the importance of dental hygiene. As a result, the demand for electric toothbrushes is rising not only among urban populations but also in semi-urban and rural areas. Furthermore, the integration of features like pressure sensors, timers, and mobile app connectivity in electric toothbrushes enhances user compliance and optimizes brushing techniques. According to The Global Oral Health Status Report (GOHSR) 2022, India faced significant oral health challenges. It accounted for 18.1% of global cases of caries in permanent teeth, 20.3% of severe periodontal disease, and 18.9% of caries in deciduous teeth. Additionally, 9.9% of worldwide cases of edentulism affected 34,905,533 people in India, and the country represented 23.4% of global lip and oral cavity cancer cases, with 327,648 affected individuals. Key Market Challenges High Cost and Affordability Issues: One of the most significant challenges facing the Asia-Pacific electric toothbrush market is the relatively high cost of electric toothbrushes compared to traditional manual ones. In price-sensitive markets like India, Indonesia, and other Southeast Asian countries, the cost of an electric toothbrush especially premium models with advanced features can be a barrier to mass adoption. While the urban middle and upper classes are increasingly able to afford these products, a large portion of the population still sees them as luxury items rather than everyday essentials. This affordability issue is further compounded by the need for periodic replacement heads, which add to the long-term cost of ownership. In rural or less-developed areas, where income levels are lower and awareness about advanced oral care tools is limited, the adoption rate remains minimal. Even if consumers are aware of the benefits, budget constraints often drive them toward cheaper, manual alternatives. To address this challenge, manufacturers must consider offering more affordable, entry-level electric toothbrushes without compromising essential features. Key Market Trends Growing Adoption of Smart and Connected Toothbrushes: The integration of smart technology into electric toothbrushes is rapidly gaining traction in the Asia-Pacific market. Consumers, particularly tech-savvy individuals and the younger population, are increasingly drawn to toothbrushes that offer Bluetooth connectivity, app synchronization, and real-time brushing feedback. These smart toothbrushes are capable of tracking brushing habits, providing personalized recommendations, and improving technique through interactive mobile apps. Brands are leveraging data analytics and AI to create customized oral care routines based on individual user behavior. Features such as pressure sensors, brushing timers, and zone-based cleaning guides not only enhance efficiency but also encourage users to maintain a consistent oral hygiene regimen. This trend aligns with the broader health-tech movement in the region, where consumers are adopting wearable health devices and smart home healthcare tools. The growing popularity of digital health monitoring, combined with the rise of e-commerce, is fueling demand for connected toothbrushes. As urban consumers in countries like Japan, South Korea, and Singapore look for premium wellness products, smart electric toothbrushes are becoming a lifestyle choice, not just a hygiene product.
