Ludhiana: In a decisive and strongly worded statement, senior Congress leaders warned the police commissioner and district administration against "operating at the behest of the ruling
Aam Aadmi Party
(AAP)."
They said that they would have to face public and legal accountability for their actions.
During a high-level meeting attended by senior Congress leaders, sitting and former MLAs, and constituency in-charges, it was unanimously resolved that misuse of police force, administrative pressure, and intimidation tactics by the local administration in Ludhiana West would not be tolerated.
Congress leaders accused the police commissioner of acting more like a political agent of AAP than a neutral officer of the law.
They said that repeated reports of selective targeting of Congress workers, planned surveillance and an atmosphere of fear in key polling areas were deeply alarming and unacceptable.
"The commissioner and his team must remember that they are not employees of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). Their loyalty is to the Constitution of India—not to Arvind Kejriwal or Bhagwant Mann," said a senior Congress leader.
The leaders asserted that any officer "found complicit in manipulating the bypoll" would not be spared.
The Congress will pursue every constitutional and legal route to hold such individuals accountable, now and after June 15, said the leaders.
Congress leaders claimed that party candidate Bharat Bhushan Ashu was being targeted because of his growing popularity with residents of Ludhiana West. They added that the VB notice was an act of desperation by a government facing impending defeat.
The party also warned the administration that any interference on polling day would be met with a mass political and legal response. Congress workers are prepared and determined to defend every single vote and every voter from pressure and fear.
"The Aam Aadmi Party should read the writing on the wall: Their time is up. People of Punjab have seen through their lies, their vendetta politics, and their Delhi-dictated arrogance," the statement concluded.

CM Siddaramaiah, DyCM Shivakumar to meet Cong high command in Delhi, likely to discuss Bengaluru stampede

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar will meet the Congress high command in New Delhi on Tuesday to discuss various developments, including June 4 stampede in Bengaluru that killed 11 people. The Congress government in the state has come under sharp criticism in the wake of the incident, with opposition BJP and JD(S) holding both CM and Deputy CM directly responsible and demanding their resignation. 'Siddaramaiah will meet party leadership in Delhi and will brief them on the latest developments,' the Chief Minister's office said in a statement. Shivakumar, who had returned from Delhi after visiting Delhi Muncipal Corporation regarding Muncipal Governance and Solid Waste Management along with Officers of Greater Benagluru Authority (GBA), is heading back to Delhi, according to his office. Shivakumar is also the state Congress President. The stampede occurred on June 4 evening in front of the Chinnaswamy stadium here, where a large number of people thronged to participate in the RCB team's IPL victory celebrations. Eleven people died and 56 were injured in the incident. Siddaramaiah had on Sunday denied reports that the Congress high command had sought information from him regarding the stampede incident. According to sources, the four names recommended to the Governor for nominations to the Legislative Council, but reportedly withheld after directions from the party high command, is also likely to come up for discussions.

KTR tears into BJP, Cong over ‘distorting facts' on KLIP

Hyderabad: The BRS Working President KT Rama Rao on Monday launched a blistering attack on the BJP and Congress, accusing them of jointly conspiring to malign BRS President K Chandrashekar Rao by distorting facts about the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project. The BRS leader said, 'Both BJP and Congress are working with a single objective to irritate KCR garu. Their agenda is not governance but vendetta.' He clarified that the Kaleshwaram project was not the decision of an individual, but a unanimous policy decision taken by the Telangana Cabinet at that time. 'Even former ministers like Eatala Rajender and Harish Rao have reiterated that this was a government-approved, cabinet-sanctioned project. The implementation was carried out by the administration, not individuals. There is absolutely nothing to hide. Everything was done with utmost transparency,' he said. Rama Rao urged people to watch the detailed presentation made by senior BRS leader Harish Rao. 'If anyone watched Harish Rao's explanation, they would understand the project's depth and benefits. Harish explained it as clearly as peeling a banana. It was that simple and detailed,' KTR said. The BRS working president said, 'If a leader in another country had completed a project of this scale bringing irrigation to 45 lakh acres in just four years, they would have been immortalised in their national history. That leader would have been celebrated with global honours. Sadly, in our country, such a historic project has become a tool for political mudslinging,' he said. KTR denounced the issuance of notices by investigation bodies as politically motivated harassment. 'These notices are simply attempts to irritate and distract us. We have already stated everything that needs to be said. Today, Harish Rao presented all the facts before the commission in full detail. Commision has nothing new to ask for KCR. Everything that needed to be said has already been said,' KTR declared. KCR achieved in four years what Congress couldn't in decades. Drawing comparisons, KTR noted that while Congress governments took decades to construct major projects like Bhakra Nangal, Nagarjuna Sagar, Narmada, and SRSP, KCR completed Kaleshwaram in record time. Criticising the Congress regime under Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, KTR said, 'They came to power by making 420 fake promises, only to betray the public. This government is leading the state down a dangerous, destructive path.' He further accused Revanth Reddy of using media manipulation to mislead the public. 'This media-management trickery cannot cover up their incompetence forever,' he added.

After Pahalgam entire country expected ‘something big': CR Paatil; urges voters to set record in bypolls

After the Pahalgam attack on April 22, the entire country believed and expected 'kuchh bada karna chahiye', 'kuch bada hona chahiye',(Something big should be done, something big should happen) Union Jal Shakti minister and Gujarat BJP president CR Paatil said Monday adding that 'not a single soldier was harmed (in the military retaliation) and everyone returned safely'. Paatil said this while campaigning for the by-election in Mehsana district's Kadi Assembly constituency for BJP candidate Rajendra Chavda. Earlier in the day he was campaigning in Visavadar in Saurashtra. The elections to Kadi and Visavadar seats are due on June 19. Referring to the Operation Sindoor, Paatil said, 'Under Modi's leadership, not only the country but the world knew that kuch bada hoga. Operation Sindoor was a revenge of the Pahalgam attack.' 'As decided by PM Modi, (the missile attack was carried out) five hours for the first time, two-and-a-half hours for second time and 30 minutes for the third time but within 23 minutes nine locations of the terrorists were attacked and finished and the terrorists were killed. Not a single soldier was harmed and everyone returned safely. This is Modi's power, this is India's power, everyone's power and the country wants to strengthen this power,' Paatil said. Appealing to the voters in Kadi to 'create a record' with high number of votes for Rajendra Chavda, Paatil said that for Kadi election the issue is not of development but 'to make BJP candidate win by a record number'. 'Today such an environment is created in the entire country after Operation Sindoor that every voter wants to strengthen Modi's hands. They were confident that Modi hai toh mumkin hai. During the surgical strike within three hours more than 300 terrorists were killed by our soldiers who returned safely,' Paatil added. Urging the voters to not 'repeat their mistakes' in Visavadar Paatil called upon the party workers and voters of the assembly constituency to make the BJP candidate victorious otherwise the 'future generation won't forgive us'. Paatil made these remarks while campaigning for the by-election of Visavadar Assembly constituency of Saurashtra. The seat has fallen vacant following the resignation of AAP MLA Bhupendra Bhayani who later joined the BJP. Addressing a gathering of party workers in Visavadar constituency, Paatil said, 'This time there should not be any mistake. We have to look after the future generation as well. Future generation won't forgive us (saying) that 'you have made mistakes repeatedly'. Correct your (past) mistakes this time. Resolve to make BJP candidate Kirit Patel victorious this time to keep the voters of Visavadar and their future generation in front of the road of development.' Kirit Patel, a former Junagadh district president of BJP and a cooperative leader, is BJP candidate for the by-election. Kirit Patel is facing a challenge from AAP's Gopal Italia and Congress candidate Nitin Ranpariya. Paatil said, 'Entire country is developing under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Entire world is impressed by him. Only Visavadar is facing hurdles in its development. Forget the mistake. You might have done experiments which have failed. Doesn't matter. But (make sure that) this time there is no mistake committed'. 'There is a need to make the BJP candidate victorious to keep Visavadar in leading position… on the path of development in the country and for the development which is needed for the future generation of Visavadar,' he said. BJP has not won the Visavadar constituency for the past several years and Paatil called upon the party workers to win it this time. 'BJP has never learnt to lose. And it has also not learnt to leave a constituency if it loses it,' Paatil said. Without taking any name, during his speech, Paatil asked people not to get misled by certain people who spread misconceptions. Voting for the by-election is scheduled on June 19. Both seats will see candidates from Congress, BJP and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in the fray. This time the Praja Shakti Democratic Party (PSDP) launched by former chief minister Shankersinh Vaghela, has also nominated candidates for both seats.
