'He is the best player in SA and Africa'
According to Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Marcelo Allende, his attacking midfielder teammate Lucas Ribeiro is the best on the continent.
In the club's final match of the season, Ribeiro scored twice in the 2-0 win over Magesi to finish as the league's top goalscorer with 16 goals, and he is not even a striker but an attacking midfielder.
'This guy next to me is the best player in the PSL and in Africa,' Allende told SuperSport TV after the game.
'I'm very happy for him and to keep him in my team. Congratulations to him for the goals and the top goal scorer [award]. Congratulations to Iqy [Iqraam] for making a very wonderful season,' the Sundowns midfielder added.
In the meantime, Sundowns are looking ahead to bigger things: the CAF Champions League final against Pyramids FC and the FIFA Club World Cup in June.

'Brighton coach favoured Trossard'
Former Al Ahly striker Percy Tau has explained his decision to leave Brighton and Hove Albion. The 31-year-old joined The Seagulls in 2018, but due to work permit complications, he was loaned out to Belgian side Union SG for a year. Following that, he had successful loan spells at Club Brugge and Anderlecht before finally making his debut for Brighton in 2021. However, Tau only made six appearances for Brighton before leaving for Al Ahly later that same year. Speaking to Robert Marawa on Radio 94.7 , Tau expressed that he felt his former coach, Graham Potter, did not give him a fair chance. 'We feel like it's a league where you can go and test yourself,' he said. 'And what it also requires is a lot of hard work because there's not much training in the Premier League. The games are more intense, so there's a lot of recovery, which is something that affected me when I was there. 'I'm a guy who prefers training because that's where I prove myself, and then I find that we play on a Saturday, off Sunday, off Monday, then we train on a Tuesday and we're off on a Wednesday, Thursday, then play. Tau mentioned how it was difficult for him to feature as Brighton were fighting relegation at the time. 'It was frustrating and I spoke to the coach many times, telling him that I wanted to play. He will say to me, 'but [Leandro] Trossard is doing well' and I said, 'yes, he is doing well because he is getting so many opportunities' Tau said he asked the former Brighton coach to play him more to impress. 'The following season, I stayed; I did not go to the Olympics. I tried to impress the coach and I did well in the friendlies,' he said. The former Mamelodi Sundowns player featured for Brighton in most of their friendly pre-season matches; however, he was benched when the season started. Potter's decision to play Trossard ahead of Tau forced the 'Lion of Judah' to leave Brighton for Al Ahly. Matheus Cunha completes 'dream' Manchester United move
Dream come true Manchester United have announced that they have completed the deal to sign Brazil international Matheus Cunha from Wolverhampton Wanderers after meeting his £62.5 million buyout clause. Photo: Justin Tallis/AFP Image: Justin Tallis/AFP Matheus Cunha said he had "dreamed of wearing the red shirt" of Manchester United after the club confirmed his signing from Wolves on Thursday. United effectively sealed the deal, which was subject to the completion of a visa and medical, on June 1 after activating a £62.5 million ($85 million) release clause in the 26-year old's contract. "It is hard to put into words my feelings about becoming a Manchester United player," said the Brazil international, who has signed a five-year deal with the option of another year. "Ever since I was a child in Brazil watching Premier League games on TV at my grandmother's house, United was my favourite English team and I dreamed of wearing the red shirt. "I can't wait for the start of pre-season to get to know my teammates and prepare for the season ahead. "All my focus is now on working hard to become a valuable part of the team, and helping get this club back to the top." Cunha scored 17 goals in all competitions for Wolves last season, winning the Premier League club's players' player of the year award. He became Ruben Amorim's first signing of the summer transfer window as the head coach sets about overhauling his squad after a miserable domestic campaign and a lacklustre Europa League final defeat to Tottenham. Cunha will add his predatory instincts and creative guile to a United attack that struggled throughout this season. The striker helped his country qualify for the World Cup on Tuesday when he set up the only goal for Vinicius Junior in a 1-0 win over Paraguay. United's director of football Jason Wilcox said: "Bringing in Matheus was one of our main priorities for this summer, so we are delighted to have completed his signing so early in the window. "He has all the qualities we are looking for as we seek to build a strong, dynamic and entertaining team capable of challenging for the biggest honours." Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo has also been linked with a move to United, whose transfer business has been made harder by their failure to qualify for the Champions League.
