
Man charged with ‘murder bid' after broad daylight ‘shooting' in Scots street

A MAN has been charged over an alleged shooting murder bid in the heart of a Scots housing scheme.
The alleged incident saw a 23-year-old man injured near football pitches on Hailesland Gardens, in Edinburgh's rough Wester Hailes area.

A major police presence descended on the area after the broad daylight incident on July 24.
Armed cops in black body armour and brandishing rifles were seen patrolling the streets immediately after the alleged shooting.
The area inside a park was also sealed off with uniformed cops standing guard before detectives and forensics arrived to examine the scene.
The injured man took himself to hospital for treatment after the alleged attack.
A 25-year-old man has now been arrested and charged over the alleged murder bid - four weeks after the incident.
Cops say he has been charged with attempted murder and possessing a gun.
He will appear in court in the capital tomorrow.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: 'A 25-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with attempted murder and possession of a firearm in Edinburgh.
'The incident occurred on Thursday, 24 July, 2025 on Hailesland Gardens, Edinburgh around 3.40pm.
'The 25-year-old is due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Friday, 15 August, 2025.'

Police raced to the incident after receiving reports of a disturbance and found a 39-year-old man injured. He was rushed to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary for treatment, where his condition remains unknown. Eyewitnesse s claimed there was blood on the pavement outside the flats.

Police searching for man missing since early-morning crash Officers are now appealing to members of the public for help Paul Smith Searches are being carried out in a bid to find a man last seen after an early morning car crash. Police Scotland said 43-year-old Paul Smith was last seen at about 1am on Saturday August 16 after a crash involving a Volkswagen Tiguan car on the B780, Old Greenock Road, near the Gleddoch Hotel in Langbank, Renfrewshire. Officers are now appealing to members of the public for help in tracing the missing man who might have been injured in the crash. Inspector Megan Logan said: 'Extensive inquiries and searches are being carried out to trace Paul as we need to make sure he is safe and well.
