Semien and Seager homer to back Eovaldi as Rangers beat Orioles 6-0
Ezequiel Duran had a two-run single in the fourth, Josh Smith had three singles and Alejandro Osuna singled twice and walked a night after the rookie hit his first big league home run.
The Rangers planned to limit Eovaldi (5-3) to five innings after his bout with elbow inflammation. The right-hander allowed two hits and struck out five while throwing 72 pitches.
Dane Dunning pitched three innings for his second career save, both this season.
Baltimore first baseman Ryan O'Hearn went 1 for 4 with a double not long after being named an All-Star for the first time. The 31-year-old is set to start at DH for the American League on July 15 in Atlanta.
Semien opened the scoring with a three-run homer in the third, and Seager connected on a solo shot leading off the fifth against Baltimore starter Tomoyuki Sugano (6-5). Seager's fourth homer in six games gave him 11 for the season.

The brothers were reportedly heading to catch a boat from northern Spain to go to England where Jota was to rejoin with Liverpool after a summer break. Spanish police are investigating the cause of the crash, which did not involve another vehicle, they said. They said they believe it could have been caused by a blown tire. Their bodies were repatriated to Portugal after being identified by the family. A wake was held for them on Friday. Jota's death occurred two weeks after he married long-time partner Rute Cardoso while on vacation from a long season where he helped Liverpool win the Premier League. The couple had three children, the youngest born last year. Jota was born in Porto but started his playing career as a child on nearby Gondomar. Silva played for Portuguese club Penafiel in the lower divisions. Dodgers, Tigers place 3 apiece as All-Star Game starters announced

The Tigers of the American League and Dodgers of the National League netted three starters as Phase 2 of the voting concluded at noon on Wednesday. Tiger outfielders Riley Greene and Javier Baez and second baseman Gleyber Torres were selected to start for the AL All-Stars, while Dodgers first baseman Freddie Freeman and catcher Will Smith will join NL balloting front-runner Shohei Ohtani for the senior circuit. Ohtani will serve as the NL's designated hitter. This will be the fifth appearance overall and second as a National Leaguer for Ohtani, who entered Wednesday leading MLB with 83 runs scored (in 84 games) and tops the NL in home runs (30), slugging percentage (.637) and OPS (1.024). New York Yankees outfielder Aaron Judge led all players in the Phase 1 of voting from June 4-26 and will join Greene and Baez in the outfield. Three-time All-Star Whit Merrifield retires after 9 seasons
(Photo credit: Brett Davis-Imagn Images) Whit Merrifield, a three-time MLB All-Star who last played for the Atlanta Braves in 2024, announced his retirement Tuesday after nine years in the big leagues. In a statement released through his agency, Warner Sports Management, Merrifield cited his family -- namely a daughter born in March 2024 -- as a reason to step away. 'I was never talented enough to just show up and play,' Merrifield said. 'Baseball required my full focus and energy for me to compete at the level I wanted to, and I realize I can no longer give that effort. 'At this point in life, I'd much rather chase around a toddler than chase sliders.' The 36-year-old infielder, a ninth-round selection of the Kansas City Royals in 2010, spent more than six seasons in the minor leagues before making his major league debut at age 27 in 2016. Merrifield ends his career with 1,249 hits -- including 94 home runs and 256 doubles -- and a .280 batting average in 1,147 games. He led the American League in stolen bases three times, finishing his career with 218 swipes. 'Since I've now had some time away from the game, I've had a chance to reflect on my individual career for the first time in my life,' Merrifield said. 'I'm proud of myself. The toughness I developed and the things I was able to accomplish, nobody outside of my camp thought possible.' Merrifield quickly established himself as a premier player for Kansas City after his call-up, earning MVP votes in 2018 after batting a career-best .304. He followed that up in 2019 with a .302 season that was highlighted by his first All-Star nod. He added another All-Star selection in 2021 and a third in 2023 as a member of the Toronto Blue Jays. Merrifield signed with the Philadelphia Phillies in 2024 but was released after batting .199 in 53 games. He finished the year with the Braves, with whom he hit .248. 'I loved all the moments,' Merrifield said. 'All the highs and even all the lows. I'm grateful for the way this game molded me. I can't wait to tell my story to my daughter one day.'
