
Kuwait Shooting Club honors Sahar
KUWAIT CITY, April 15: The men's and women's trap shooting qualifiers for the 75-target event are set to take place today, Wednesday, as part of the prestigious His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah International Shooting Championship. The annual tournament is hosted by the Kuwait Shooting Sports Club at the Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Olympic Shooting Complex, attracting around 220 male and female shooters from 18 Arab and international countries, alongside their technical and administrative teams.
Earlier this week, Kuwaiti shooter Abdulaziz Al-Mandil claimed the silver medal in the skeet shooting competition, highlighting Kuwait's strong presence in the tournament.
On the sidelines of the event, Obaid Al-Osaimi, Secretary-General of the Kuwait and Arab Shooting Federations and Tournament Director, welcomed Egyptian MP and businesswoman Sahar Talaat Mostafa at his office. Al-Osaimi presented her with the Kuwaiti Shooting Club shield in appreciation of her visit.
Mostafa expressed her pride in taking part in the Amir's Championship for the first time, praising the exceptional organisation and competitive environment. 'The Supreme Organising Committee and all working teams have ensured top-tier preparation and execution,' she said. Mostafa is competing alongside her son, 18-year-old shooter Yassin Ihab Madi, and both are aiming for podium finishes in what she described as one of the largest international shooting events.
She extended heartfelt thanks to Duaij Al-Otaibi, President of the Kuwaiti and Arab Shooting Federations, and Obaid Manahi Al-Osaimi for their warm hospitality and commitment to excellence. 'Kuwait is like a second home,' she added, affirming her dedication to participating in future competitions held in the country.
Meanwhile, Sheikh Ali bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Honorary President of the Asian Shooting Federation, also expressed his admiration for the event. 'This championship, bearing the name of His Highness the Amir, is dear to all of us,' he said.
Sheikh Ali bin Abdullah Al Khalifa praised the continuous improvement in the championship's organisation under Engineer Duaij Al-Otaibi and highlighted the high calibre of participating athletes and teams. 'The presence of elite shooters and expert national cadres has elevated the level of competition, making it one of the most prestigious shooting events globally,' he noted.
He concluded by emphasising the championship's intense competition and technical excellence, which continue to enhance its regional and international standing.
