Ahly target winning all games at Club World Cup: Moroccan defender Dari
Ahly will open their campaign in the first match of FIFA's newly expanded 32-team tournament against the US outfit Inter Miami in Miami on Sunday. 'We are preparing strongly for the World Cup confrontations with full concentration. We arrived early in the USA and adapted quickly to the atmosphere,' Dari told the club's official website late on Monday. 'We train well and work hard to win all games. The opening match will be a strong one, and we should be at full concentration to win,' he added. Ahly have been drawn in Group A alongside Palmeiras (Brazil), FC Porto (Portugal), and Inter Miami (USA). Dari said that Ahly is focusing on all the group games, adding that every match has its own circumstances, stressing that winning the opening game will be a big boost ahead of next games. 'Ahly players are determined to achieve good results. We hope to deliver outstanding performance to please the fans,' he concluded. Amid their current training camp in Miami, Ahly lost 5-3 on penalties to Mexican side Pachuca after a 1-1 draw in a friendly match held at Inter Miami's Stadium on Sunday. Egypt's Ali Zein joins Veszprem on two-year deal - Omni sports
Egyptian international Ali Zein has completed his move to Hungarian champions Telekom Veszprem on a two-year contract, the Egyptian Handball Association announced on Monday. The 34-year-old arrives from Romanian side CS Dinamo București, where he spent the past three seasons and won two domestic cups. Zein also had a brief but successful stint at Spanish powerhouse Barcelona in 2021, helping the Catalan club secure a sweep of titles including the EHF Champions League, Liga ASOBAL, Copa del Rey, Copa ASOBAL and Supercopa ASOBAL. At Veszprem, Zein will link up with fellow Egyptians Yehya El-Deraa, who joined the club in 2022, and newcomers Ahmed Adel and Ahmed Hisham, who are set to arrive this summer from Ahly and France's Montpellier, respectively. Zein is regarded as one of Egypt's most accomplished handball players, having played a key role in the national team's dominance on the continent, winning four African Championship titles. He was also part of the Egyptian squad that achieved a historic fourth-place finish at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. Veszprem, one of Europe's top handball clubs, added to their honors by winning the IHF Super Globe in Cairo in 2024. CAF launches exciting TotalEnergies CAF WAFCON Webinar series on Monday
Published: Monday, 09 June 2025 The Confederation Africaine de Football (CAF) will on Monday launch the first of three webinars for media titled the 'TotalEnergies CAF WAFCON Stars Spotlight'. The series will give media insights from leading players ahead of the TotalEnergies CAF Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), Morocco 2024 that will be staged from July 5-26. The first session, to be held at 15:00 GMT, will be for French-speaking media and contains a star-studded line-up of players, along with moderator Katty Toure . The following players will take part: Sofia Guellati (Algeria): A centre-back for the Algeria national team and French side EA Guingamp. Fideline Ngoy (DR Congo): The DR Congo goalkeeper lifted the CAF Women's Champions League title with TP Mazembe in 2024. Agueisha Diarra (Mali): A forward for the Mali national team and Paris St-Germain. Safietou Sagna (Senegal): An attacking midfielder for the Senegal national team and US Saint-Malo. Chaima Abbassi (Tunisia): A defender for the Tunisia national team and NEOM, who she helped to the league title in Saudi Arabia this season. Set to take place over three seperate segments, there will also be webinars in Arabic (16 June) and English (23 June). The series will feature some of the continent's leading footballers alongside influential media voices in a compelling, multilingual format. Some of the other international women's football stars who will take part include reigning CAF Women's Footballer of the year Barbra Banda (Zambia), Doha El Madani (Morocco) and Thembi Kgatlana (South Africa). The sessions are designed to highlight Africa's deep reservoir of talent and celebrate the unique stories of players who are driving the women's game forward across the globe.
