Afghan trucks allowed into India via Wagah
Despite ongoing tensions between Pakistan and India, five Afghan transit trade trucks, laden with Afghan dry fruits and driven by Pakistani drivers, crossed into India via the Wagah-Attari border, sources said on Friday.
The trucks, the sources said, had been stationed at the border under the supervision of the National Logistics Cell (NLC) for several weeks, awaiting clearance to proceed. They crossed the border after the Indian government issued a 24-hour entry permit.
Pakistan allowed the trucks to proceed at the Afghan government's request, they said. The Afghan government had requested Pakistan to allow passage to 150 trucks, carrying dry fruits, to India via the Wagah border after India closed the border last month amid escalating tensions.
On May 1, Pakistan granted conditional approval for these trucks to transit to India. However, the process was delayed because of the issuance of entry permits by the Indian authorities. Further delays ensued due to border skirmishes and heightened tensions between the two countries.

Flashforward to a 2017 video, he counted down to 100,000, which became his gateway to fame. The video currently has almost 32 million views. Since then, the YouTuber became known for his extravagant challenges and large-scale giveaways. In 2024, he premiered his own version of Netflix's Squid Game, called Beast Games on Amazon's Prime Video. The 10-episode competition series featured 1,000 players and set a grand prize of $5,000,000. Later, a lawsuit was filed against the content creator and his production company on behalf of five unnamed contestants, as per Variety. The lawsuit alleged that the show failed to provide basic necessities such as medical care, food, and sleep to the participants, adding that they were not paid minimum wage for their overtime involvement and were subjected to "dangerous circumstances and conditions." In response, MrBeast wrote on X, "We have tons of behind-the-scenes footage dropping when the series does to show how these claims were blown out of proportion. Just can't release it now because it would spoil the games." The show scored a 5.7 rating on IMDb and a 20 per cent score on Rotten Tomatoes, with viewers remarking that it exploited underprivileged participants for entertainment and missed the point of Squid Game.

Pakistan, Iran ink MoU on boosting ties
On the concluding day of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) summit held in Tehran, a MoU was signed between Pakistan and Iran to enhance bilateral cooperation in the field of communications. The signing ceremony was attended by Iran's Minister for Roads and Urban Development Farzaneh Sadegh, and Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan who also led the Pakistani delegation in this ECO summit, said a statement received here on Tuesday. Aleem Khan highlighted the deep-rooted religious, cultural and historical ties between Pakistan and Iran, stating that the shared culture, especially from Balochistan to Iran, reflects strong commonalities in daily life and traditions. He welcomed the holding of the ECO summit in Tehran, expressing optimism that the platform would yield positive outcomes for the region. Iranian Minister Farzaneh Sadegh expressed readiness for all possible cooperation in Pakistan's Communications sector and affirmed Iran's commitment to advancing bilateral projects.
