Lyricist Swanand Kirkire lashes out at Ranbir Kapoor's 'Animal' again: 'Sandeep Reddy Vanga rejected all forms of...'
Remember how lyricist Swanand Kirkire expressed his displeasure over Ranbir Kapoor and Sandeep Vanga's Animal back in 2023? He has spoken about his issues with the film again.
In an interview with The Lallantop, Kirkire said, 'Hindi cinema was helping men like me, coming from places like Indore, understand what gender equality truly means. Even in Anurag Kashyap's Dev D, women were shown as independent beings. And then, someone makes Animal.'
He added, 'My issue isn't with the film being made—it's with the overwhelming acceptance it received. I remember the day I saw the film, I met a girl who had seen it twice.'

He elaborated more and said, 'I don't even mind if that's a perspective. But the film claims that those who couldn't be alpha males became poets, as if poetry is the last resort of insecure men. And yet, the same film uses poetry and lyrics to turn Ranvijay into an alpha male.'
And back in 2023, Swanand Kirkire had said, 'Guru Dutt's Saheb Biwi aur Ghulam, Hrishikesh Mukherjee's Anupama, Shyam Benegal's Ankur and Bhumika, Ketan Mehta's Mirch Masala, Sudhir Mishra's Main Zinda Hoon, Gauri Shinde's English Vinglish, Vikas Behal's Queen Shoojit Sarkar's Piku, and many such films in Indian cinema that taught me how to respect a woman.'
He continued, 'Her rights and her autonomy and even after understanding everything, there are still many shortcomings in this age-old thinking. I don't know whether I succeeded or not, but even today I am constantly trying to improve myself. All thanks to cinema.'
He added, 'But today after watching the movie Animal , I really felt pity for the women of today's generation. Now, a new man has been prepared for you, who is more scary, who does not respect you that much and who aims to subdue you, suppress you and feels proud of himself. When you, the girls of today's generation, were sitting in that cinema hall and applauding Rashmika, I in my mind paid tribute to every idea of equality. I have come home desperate, dejected and weak!'

Vanga lashed out at Kirkire for his critique on the film. The official account of the film wrote- 'Do not let your knees fall ahead of your toes or cave in towards each other.'
Vanga added, 'Keep feet shoulder-width apart to maintain a good base of support for balance. Land softly on the balls of the feet to help absorb the force of the landing. Yes…. now it landed perfectly (flying kiss emoticon) @swanandkirkire.'

In a chat with the YouTube channel Filmygyan, Saurabh was asked if star kid Ranbir 'threw any tantrums' on set and the actor was quick to answer that no one actually does that. 'Nobody does that. This is all nonsense. Everyone is human and if they are a good actor, professional, and know how to connect with a co-actor… they know that is how a scene comes alive. If they start throwing tantrums, then how will the scene come to life? How can he be such a beautiful, powerful, versatile actor, if he does not connect with me or with any other co-actor? It's not possible,' he shared. Talking more about Ranbir, Saurabh shared that he was 'always connected, very humble and respectful with his co-actors.' Saurabh Sachdeva had a brief but impactful appearance in Animal and he said that when he was first offered the part, he was very skeptical about taking it up. 'I was initially very skeptical about doing the film. When I met Sandeep for the first time, I didn't understand what was happening in the film and I was wondering that since it's such a huge cast, I might get lost in it,' he said. 'But I was thinking that I still don't understand the story of the film,' he shared. He met Sandeep thrice and still didn't have a clue about the world that the director was trying to create here. 'I told him that I do not understand the world of this film. He then showed me the scene of the masked men and I got even more confused. Then he showed me that scene between Triptii Dimri and Ranbir in the lawn. Then the writer of the film, he started narrating a few more scenes and I said, 'Okay, I will do it',' he said. But, for all of his shooting schedule, Saurabh felt 'confused.' 'Honestly, throughout the film, I was really confused, till the end. And I wasn't sure if what I was doing was right or not,' he said. Saurabh Sachdeva was also asked about an update on Animal Park and he said, 'I have no clue. I also want to know when it's coming out. The shoot hasn't even started. Sandeep is making Spirit, and then he will start this.' He added, 'They are still writing the story. It's a work in progress.'

The Supreme Court's decision to remove all community dogs from Delhi-NCR and keep them in shelter homes has sparked a massive debate on social media. While several celebrities have come out condemning the apex court's decision, Rupali Ganguly took to her Instagram handle on Tuesday evening and dropped a video in which she was seen spending time with her pet dogs on the sets of Anupama. She mentioned that by shifting dogs to shelter homes, we aren't showing any kindness but are only putting them in exile. 'In our traditions, dogs guard Bhairav Baba's temple and are fed on Amavasya for blessings. They've grown up on our streets, guarding shops, waiting outside our doors, barking away thieves," Rupali wrote. 'If we remove them now, we risk losing our protectors before the real dangers arrive, like silencing an alarm before a fire. Sending them to far-off shelters isn't kindness, it's exile. Stray dogs aren't outsiders; they're part of our faith, our culture, our safety. Care for them, vaccinate them, feed them and let them live where they belong. #straydogs," the actress added. What Is The Supreme Court Order About Stray Dogs In Delhi? The Supreme Court on Monday ordered that all stray dogs in Delhi and the NCR must be caught within eight weeks and kept in special shelters that civic authorities will set up. The court made it clear that once a dog is caught, it will not be released back onto the streets. A bench of Justices JB Pardiwala and R Mahadevan gave these directions while hearing a case taken up on its own about the rising number of stray dog attacks. The judges also said that anyone who tries to stop the authorities from carrying out the capture will face contempt of court action. The court further ordered that a helpline must be started in Delhi-NCR to report dog bite cases. If a complaint is made, the dog involved must be caught within four hours.
