AC/DC is always a major player on Billboard's hard rock charts. The band rarely scores new wins, either with albums or songs, so it is with the classics that the Australian rock outfit maintains a constant presence. Sometimes that comes in the form of just one tune, while in other instances, multiple tracks and even an album or two can find space on the weekly rankings. This time around, AC/DC scores a pair of hit songs, and the group even manages a relatively uncommon feat.
AC/DC Sits at Nos. 1 and 10
The band bookends the Hard Rock Digital Song Sales chart this frame. AC/DC sits in first place, at No. 1, and also in the lowest rung at No. 10, as the tally only features 10 spaces these days.
"Thunderstruck" rises from No. 3 back to the throne. The smash earns its sixty-first stay at No. 1 as it surges. At the same time, "Back in Black" returns to the Hard Rock Digital Song Sales chart. This week, it comes in at No. 10, reentering the list in the lowest spot possible.
"Thunderstruck" and "Back in Black" Keep Selling
"Thunderstruck" and "Back in Black" have both already taken a turn at No. 1. While "Thunderstruck" is far and away the group's longest-running leader and the current champion, "Back in Black" has spent just two of its 547 stays on the tally in the spotlight.
Another pair of tunes, "Shot in the Dark" and "Play Ball," have also reached the peak position, though neither manages to appear nearly as frequently as "Thunderstruck" or "Back in Black."
AC/DC and Disturbed Stand Alone
AC/DC is one of only two musical acts that fill more than one spot on the Hard Rock Digital Song Sales chart this week. Disturbed also manages to do so, as its cover of Simon & Garfunkel's "The Sound of Silence" comes in right behind "Thunderstruck," while "Don't Tell Me," a collaboration with Heart frontwoman Ann Wilson, reenters at No. 5.

Ozzy Osbourne's Cause Of Death Is Revealed

Two weeks after he died at his home in Buckinghamshire, England, Ozzy Osbourne 's cause of death has been revealed. According to a death certificate detailed by the New York Times on Tuesday, the two-time Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee and reality star died of a heart attack on July 22. The document also notes that Osbourne had been living with coronary artery disease and Parkinson's disease before his death. The death certificate, which was filed with a London registry by Osbourne's daughter Aimée Osbourne, listed the heavy metal icon's occupation as 'Songwriter, Performer and Rock Legend.' Weeks ahead of his death, Osbourne performed his last concert at a benefit in Birmingham, England, just a stone's throw from his childhood home. At the show, where the 'Prince of Darkness' performed material from his solo career as well as his time as the frontman of the seminal rock group Black Sabbath, he told the crowd, 'I've been laid up for six years. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.' During his final years, Osbourne faced a number of health issues. A 2019 fall at his Los Angeles home led to neck surgery that sidelined his performance plans for several years. In January 2020, he revealed that he had been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease, but at the time, he told fans that the nervous system disorder was not 'a death sentence.' Fans and family mourned the rocker in his hometown of Birmingham on July 30, as his coffin was carried through the streets ahead of a private funeral.

Neil Diamond's Timeless Hit Proves It's Still A Winner

Neil Diamond has been one of the most recognizable names in music for decades, thanks to a string of chart-topping singles and hugely successful albums. In recent years, health concerns have slowed his career, but his fans have never stopped playing his hits. Among his many successes, one track stands out as his defining anthem — a sing-along classic instantly recognizable after just a few notes. This week, that cut manages to return to a pair of rankings in the United Kingdom, where Diamond's fans are still dedicated to him. 'Sweet Caroline' Reappears on Two Charts 'Sweet Caroline' is back on both the Official Singles Sales and the Official Singles Downloads charts this frame. The track reenters the former at No. 65 and the latter just a few spaces higher, at No. 62. A Modern Chart Run That Started Years After Release When 'Sweet Caroline' was first released in 1969, neither of the tallies it appears on in the U.K. this week existed, at least not in their current form. The track didn't make its first appearance on the Official Singles Downloads chart until 2008, and it reached the Official Singles Sales roster for the first time in 2016. In the summer of 2021, the cut soared to No. 3 on both charts, and that position still stands as its all-time high. Neil Diamond Approaches Triple-Digit Weeks To date, 'Sweet Caroline' has now spent 83 weeks on the Official Singles Sales chart and 97 on the Official Singles Downloads tally. It hasn't been spotted on either list since August 2024, making this latest reappearance an impressive comeback for one of the most beloved tracks in U.K. chart history. The Legacy of 'Sweet Caroline' First featured on Diamond's Brother Love's Travelling Salvation Show album, 'Sweet Caroline' went on to appear on numerous compilations and live recordings from the singer. Over the past half-century, the cut has become a staple at sporting events, weddings, and public gatherings, and its 'so good, so good' refrain is now deeply embedded in pop culture.

Tame Impala's Comeback Hit Falls Just Shy Of No. 1

Tame Impala is back with new music, beginning what looks to be the start of another era – one that fans of the act have been waiting patiently for. The Australian psychedelic pop-rock band returns to several of the United Kingdom's charts this week with 'End of Summer,' which becomes a fast win for the group. The song nearly opens at No. 1 on one of the most competitive lists of the week, but it misses the top spot by just a single space. 'End of Summer' Nearly Leads the Vinyl Chart 'End of Summer' launches at No. 2 on the Official Vinyl Singles chart. It's Tame Impala's first top 10 hit — and first placement at all — on the ranking. The track comes close to ruling, but is kept from the summit by English rock band Wunderhorse, whose 'The Rope' debuts at No. 1. Fourth Top 10 on the Physical Singles List On the Official Physical Singles chart, 'End of Summer' starts at No. 3. The entry marks Tame Impala's fourth top 10 on the tally, and serves as the group's milestone tenth hit. Beyond its lofty starting positions on those two lists, the cut also arrives at No. 87 on the Official Singles chart, No. 13 on the Official Singles Sales ranking, and No. 17 on the Official Dance Singles roster. Currents Continues Its Chart Run While 'End of Summer' makes a splash upon its arrival, Tame Impala's Currents is still present on a trio of U.K. album rankings. The Grammy-nominated act sits at No. 51 on the Official Albums Sales chart, No. 47 on the Official Physical Albums ranking, and No. 38 on the Official Vinyl Albums tally with the beloved project. In each instance, Currents falls from where it sat last week, despite all the excitement around 'End of Summer.' Kevin Parker's Return to His Own Music Kevin Parker, the man behind Tame Impala, took a step back from his own project in recent years. In 2023 and 2024, he was heavily involved in producing Radical Optimism, Dua Lipa's most recent album. Tame Impala's last full-length, The Slow Rush, arrived in 2020, and fans have been eagerly awaiting a follow-up ever since.
