Speedway Children's Charities grant $100,000 to Atlanta organizations
Speedway Children's Charities helped out local non-profits championing children's causes in metro Atlanta and Georgia late last year.
In total, 35 organizations around the area received funds during SCC Atlanta's annual Grant Distribution Ceremony held in Club One at Atlanta Motor Speedway in December.
Recipients use the grants to address a variety of needs from kids in the area, from providing housing to those in crisis, to providing meals for the hungry, to cancer support and so much more.
'(The) ceremony is what Speedway Children's Charities and our volunteers work all year for,' said SCC Atlanta chapter director Kathy Bradley. 'Thanks to those efforts and the generosity of our supporters, each of the non-profits receiving grants today are getting a boost for their life-changing efforts that benefit children in need.'
Each year, SCC Atlanta holds fundraisers in conjunction with AMS events, such as its two NASCAR Cup Series race weekends. The charity also raises funds through standalone initiatives like the annual Kids Win Golf Tournament, the Kids Win Clay Shoot, and unique experiences at the speedway such as Laps for Charity, which also runs during the Atlanta NASCAR race weekends each season.
Including SCC Atlanta, Speedway Children's Charities has local chapters at 11 Speedway Motorsports facilities making a positive impact on children across the country. In 2024 alone, those chapters have delivered more than $4 million to non-profits that directly impact children in need. Since the charity's inception in 1982, Speedway Children's Charities has granted more than $72 million to non-profit organizations nationwide.

(AP Photo/Fernando Llano) MEXICO CITY (AP) — NASCAR's first Cup Series race outside the United States was off to a bumpy start Friday with several teams yet to arrive in Mexico City because of travel issues in North Carolina. At least one chartered flight to Mexico City was grounded Thursday with an engine issue, leaving teams scrambling to find alternative routes to get to Mexico. Some drove to Atlanta to catch a commercial flight. Advertisement But when the track opened Friday, many were not at Autodromo Hermanos Rodríguez. Trackhouse Racing was among them — Daniel Suarez arrived Tuesday with some support personnel so he was not affected — but the communications director for the Cup team had been summoned to help unload the Trackhouse cars off the truck because no crew members were available. The trucks came directly from last Sunday's race in Michigan and arrived at the Mexico City track on Thursday. NASCAR said only 'a select few' teams aren't on site Friday morning. But, it seems most are Xfinity Series teams based on a revamping of the weekend schedule. 'Due to two aircraft issues that grounded multiple race teams in Charlotte, N.C., on Thursday, NASCAR has adjusted the on-track schedule for this weekend's activities at Mexico City's Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez,' NASCAR said in a statement. Advertisement NASCAR delayed Friday's originally planned Cup Series practice to later in the afternoon. NASCAR also pushed all Xfinity Series practice sessions from Friday to Saturday. And, the first of two NASCAR Mexico Series races will run earlier than originally scheduled on Friday. The Xfinity Series will lose some practice time, with just one 50-minute session on Saturday morning, right before qualifying. There are other slight adjustments as well, but Cup teams will not lose any practice. ___ AP auto racing:
