UPDATE (8:30 p.m.): The bodies of Ileana and Mila Santana were recovered this morning after the Texas floods in Kerr County.
Close family friends, Alan Smith-Toro and Zaida Smith, tell News 5 that even though they are devastated by the recent news, they are thankful to finally have the closure that they prayed for.
'At least there's a little closure, I guess, for them to lay their loved ones down the proper way,' said Smith-Toro.
Smith-Toro told us that even in this hard time, the family is thankful that the Santanas can all be laid together peacefully now.
'Everybody's just heartbroken,' said Smith-Toro. 'The boys are still numb and kind of trying to make their adjustments on everything,' he continued.
The family was making funeral and cremation arrangements today in Texas. As of now, Eddie Sr. and Ileana's funeral will be held in Puerto Rico. Camille and Mila's will be held in Texas.
Smith-Toro said Eddie Jr. and Michael are taking it one day at a time, though this closure only marks the beginning of the family's grief.
'They're staying with high spirits. I know they appreciate all the love and help and support from everybody,' said Smith-Toro. 'They're going to need even more love and support going forward. I don't want to say the hard parts over with because it's not.'
Smith-Toro said family and friends have been keeping up with the Santana's home in West-Mobile during this difficult time.
'My mom, neighbors and different people will go and cut grass and do things at Eddie Sr. and Ileana's. (It's) just the little things that take some of the pressure off,' said Smith-Toro.

Summer's best stretch of weather yet arriving across Maryland

After a exhausting stretch of intense heat, miserable humidity, and powerful storms this summer, we're about to enjoy the nicest weather of the season so far. The combination of low humidity, plenty of sunshine, and comfortably warm temperatures will lead to spectacular outdoor weather now through Wednesday. We will remain storm-free, so rain will not dampen any outdoor activities or work through Thursday. Dangerous levels of heat and humidity followed by more powerful storms will return to the area Friday into the upcoming weekend. A well deserved break from the sweltering heat and humidity of this summer is here. Humidity levels continue to fall on this Monday morning as a cold front dips to our south. High pressure will have a firm grip of our weather now through Thursday. This keeps our forecast rain-free, so you can get in any outdoor activities or work without the threat of storms. The weather will be most comfortable today and tomorrow with humidity levels dropping to their lowest levels since the 4th of July. Highs this afternoon with a partly to mostly sunny sky will top out in the middle to upper 80s with a northerly breeze at 10 mph. This evening's weather will be stunning with a mainly clear sky, low humidity, and comfortable temperatures in the 70s. Overnight with a mostly clear sky, temperatures will dip into the lower to middle 60s providing refreshing sleeping weather. Tuesday will be the best weather day of this entire stretch. Expect a mostly sunny sky, low humidity, comfortably warm temperatures, and a light breeze. The weather will be nearly perfect by July standards. Make sure you wear plenty of sun protection as the UV index will be a very high 9. Wednesday will feature more abundant sunshine, warm temperatures, but humidity levels will be on the rise. Highs will top out in the middle to upper 80s. While it will be more muggy, the day still looks very nice to be out and about. Summer heat and humidity will make a return starting Thursday and will continue into the upcoming weekend. Highs Thursday will top out in the lower 90s with moderate levels of humidity. Friday the heat will become more extreme as temperatures soar into the middle to upper 90s with feels like temperatures reach the triple digits. The extreme heat will continue into the weekend. Tropical heat and humidity Saturday and Sunday with heat index values in the triple digits will give way to scattered strong to severe thunderstorms during the afternoon and evening. Any storm this weekend could deliver damaging winds, intense cloud to ground lightning, drenching downpours, and localized flooding. The WJZ First Alert Weather Team has tagged Saturday and Sunday as possible ALERT DAYS due to this one two punch of sweltering heat and humidity and the chance for severe storms.

Comfortable weather has returned to the Pittsburgh area

Comfortable weather has returned to the Pittsburgh area. Any Alert Days Ahead? No Aware: With temperatures dipping below 64°, this morning is the coldest morning of the month so far in Pittsburgh. Tuesday morning will be the coolest morning of the month. You can keep the umbrella at home as we are going to get a nicely deserved break from the rain starting now and continuing through Thursday. Our next rain chance comes on Friday, with low rain chances sticking around for the weekend. Monthly rain stats are a little misleading as we have seen our share of scattered daily storms. Often times we haven't seen any rain at the airport, but we have seen flash flood warnings being issued in other parts of our area. So far this month, the NWS Pittsburgh office has issued 20 flash flood warnings. 76 were issued last month & 15 in May. When it comes to just flash flood warnings being issued, this is the most since 2003. Of note, August of 2003 saw 108 flash flood warnings. That's the most of any month ever on record for the Pittsburgh area. Not only is it looking dry, but the weather will be comfy through at least Wednesday morning. I have highs hitting the low 80s today and Tuesday. Temperatures will be the coolest at any time this month today. That won't last for long with temperatures expected to dip even lower on Tuesday morning. I have Pittsburgh dipping down to the mid-50s. The average low this time of the year is 64°, so we will finally dip to below average for a morning or two. Lunchtime temps should be in the upper 70s. Winds will be light and out of the north. Dew points will dip into the 50s by this afternoon. Looking ahead, highs on Tuesday should remain in the mid to low 80s with low humidity levels. Wednesday will be a split day with humidity levels low to start the day and then shooting up. Wednesday highs should hit the upper 80s. The hottest days of the week will be on Thursday and Friday with highs hitting the low 90s. Thursday looks dry right now, with rain chances around on Friday and maybe even arriving on Thursday night.
