Supporters of Iraqi armed factions protest against Israeli strikes on Iran
Shafaq News/ Dozens of supporters of Iran-aligned armed factions in Iraq staged a protest in central Baghdad on Friday evening, denouncing Israel's military strikes on Iranian territory and condemning the alleged use of Iraqi airspace in the operation.
A security source told Shafaq News that demonstrators gathered near the Suspension Bridge (al-Jisr al-Mu'allaq), one of the capital's key access points to the Green Zone, to express solidarity with Iran following the air raids that targeted military and nuclear facilities in multiple Iranian provinces.
The demonstration unfolded under tight security measures, with Law Enforcement Forces heavily deployed in and around Tahrir Square. Authorities also took precautionary steps by shutting down the Suspension Bridge to prevent escalation or unauthorized access to sensitive areas of the capital.
The protest follows a series of sharp condemnations issued by major Iran-aligned groups, including Kataib Hezbollah, Harakat Al-Nujabaa, and Asaib Ahl al-Haq, all of which warned of potential retaliation and accused the United States of complicity in Israel's Operation Rising Lion that killed senior Iranian commanders, scientists, and civilians.

Washington – The son of Iran's late shah appealed Friday to the country's security forces to abandon the cleric-run state, voicing hope for toppling the Islamic republic after Israel launched military strikes. Pahlavi was crown prince in Iran's pro-Western monarchy, which collapsed in 1979 in a mass revolution that quickly brought to power the clerical establishment that declared an Islamic republic. Pahlavi, who lives in exile near Washington, says he is not necessarily looking for the restoration of the monarchy and wants to use his name to support the movement for secular democracy. Israel sees the Islamic republic as an existential threat but was allied with Iran under the late shah, Mohammad Reza Pahlavi. Reza Pahlavi has also enjoyed warm relations with Israel, which he toured two years ago. Iranian diaspora pro-monarchists, waving the old imperial flag, have figured prominently in protests in support of Israel since the October 7, 2023 attacks by Hamas. Pahlavi has repeatedly described the Islamic republic as frail, including after mass protests broke out in 2022 after the death of Mahsa Amini, who had been arrested by morality police who enforce modest dress on women.

Israel fire service says responding to ‘major' incidents from Iran missile attack
Jerusalem – Israel's firefighting service said its teams were responding to several 'major' incidents resulting from an Iranian missile attack, including efforts to rescue people trapped in a high-rise building. 'Firefighting crews are handling several major incidents, mainly in the Dan region' around Tel Aviv, a statement said, adding that 'firefighters are working in a high-rise building to rescue trapped individuals and extinguish a fire, as well as responding to two additional destruction sites.' AFP footage from central Tel Aviv showed fire and smoke rising from a condo tower, a large hole ripped open by an explosion at its base. After Israel targeted military and nuclear sites across Iran, the Islamic Republic sent a fleet of drones, followed by two salvoes of missiles. 'In both series, less than 100 missiles were fired, most of which were intercepted by air defense systems', Israel's military spokesman Brigadier General Effie Defrin said in a statement. 'There are a limited number of hits on buildings, some from shrapnel from the interception', he added. Immediately after the first salvo, a thick plume of smoke billowed over the coastal Israeli city of Tel Aviv, an AFP journalist reported. A residential building next to the defence ministry in Tel Aviv was also struck. Resident Chen Gabizon, 30, told AFP he ran to the building's underground shelter after receiving an alert notification. 'After a few minutes, we just heard a very big explosion, everything was shaking, smoke, dust, everything was all over the place', he said, adding he would stay with family or at a hotel for a while. AFPTV images of the Tel Aviv suburb of Ramat Gan showed a street littered with debris of damaged nearby buildings whose facades were torn by a missile's blast. First responders worked to remove a dozen vehicles destroyed by bits of fallen concrete, metal bars and wooden planks from a destroyed residential building. A spokesman for Israel's first responders agency, the Magen David Adom, said on private Israeli television channel 12 that 21 people were injured by the missiles, including two in serious condition.

Iraq's Fatah Alliance backs Iranian retaliation against Israel
Shafaq News/ On Saturday, Fatah Alliance leader Hadi al-Amiri, a key figure in the Iraqi Iran-aligned Coordination Framework (CF), endorsed Tehran's missile response to Israeli strikes. In a statement, al-Amiri condemned the recent Israeli operation as a 'cowardly assault' and a sign of what he described as the 'Zionist project's failure to confront the Axis of Resistance,' an Iran-led regional alliance comprising groups including Lebanon's Hezbollah, Iraqi factions, and Yemen's Houthis (Ansarallah). He reaffirmed Iran's right to retaliate, calling the response a 'legitimate and moral duty,' and warned that remaining silent would amount to complicity. 'We hold the US fully responsible for the Israeli violation of Iraqi airspace,' al-Amiri added, urging the Iraqi government to take immediate steps to prevent further incursions. He also called on Muslims worldwide to adopt a unified stance against what he labeled as a shared adversary that 'recognizes no borders, sects, or nations.' Al-Amiri stressed that the Palestinian issue remains central despite growing normalization efforts in the region.
