🏈 Former Pittsburgh Steelers running back Merril Hoge opened up on mental health.
'May is Mental Health Awareness Month—and for me, it's personal. After losing my football career, I battled depression. It took ownership, action, and a 5-year journey to heal. Mental health matters. Seeking help is strength, not weakness. Keep going—you're not alone,' Hoge wrote on X.
🏈 ESPN's Jeremy Fowler said George Pickens wants to stay in Pittsburgh.

'There was a little bit of smoke going on at the draft but I was told that Pickens in the end wants to be in Pittsburgh. He loves Mike Tomlin and wants to be part of things here in Pittsburgh,' Fowler said on NFL Live.
🏈 Antonio Brown and former All-Pro cornerback Asante Samuel have been beefing on X.
'If Mike Tomlin never babied you @AB84 NFL would've been an after thought. You couldn't survive anywhere else. The Steelers organization and players allowed you to act crazy. Lucky you never played on my team. You would've been dealt with immediately and not by the coach. Facts!' Samuel wrote.
🏈 According to the FTN StatsHub, George Pickens (13.7) and DK Metcalf (13.2) are two of just eight receivers with 100 or more targets and an average depth of target of 12.0 or more yards during the 2024 season. They are also two of just 13 receivers with over 1,400 air yards last season, as well.
🏈 Arthur Smith's offenses have ranked top three in rush attempts in four of his last five seasons as a head coach or offensive coordinator,' according to Matt Williamson. 'His teams have also totaled 500-plus RB touches in each of the past three seasons. Najee Harris vacated 299 touches.'
🏈 Will Howard spoke becoming a Steeler into existence during his Ohio State pro day.
🏈 ESPN's Jordan Reid said on SportsCenter that there's plenty of early buzz about the potential of the 2026 QB class. South Carolina QB LaNorris Sellers is one passer that many are already excited to watch next season.
🏈 New York Jets quarterback Justin Fields has gone viral for looking like a completely different player in offseason workouts.

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. The Aaron Rodgers and Pittsburgh Steelers situation is still ongoing with no end in sight at this point. A deal could happen at any given moment, but for now he remains a free agent and the Steelers remain waiting to find out who their starting quarterback will be in 2025. As fans and the media wait to find out what Rodgers is going to do, plenty of former players, current players, and media have been speaking out with their thoughts on the situation. Previously, Peyton Manning revealed his thoughts on the matter. Now, another legendary quarterback has chimed in with his two cents. Aaron Rodgers #8 of the New York Jets looks during the first quarter against the Buffalo Bills at MetLife Stadium on October 14, 2024 in East Rutherford, New Jersey. PhotoThis time, it was former Miami Dolphins superstar quarterback Dan Marino who spoke out about Rodgers and Pittsburgh. Read more: Peyton Manning Doesn't Hold Back About Aaron Rodgers Amid Steelers Rumors During an appearance on 93.7 The Fan, Marino revealed some brief thoughts on Rodgers and the Steelers. He still think the future Hall of Famer has top-notch talent. "I still think Aaron has some game," Marino said. "He does. He can throw it as good as anybody that has ever thrown the football. If his mind's into it and he's ready to go and that works. I don't think it would be an issue with the Steelers." However, Marino also noted that Rodgers needs to really want to play another year and to play for Pittsburgh for things to work out. "But you gotta have someone that really wants to play there," he said. "And he's getting older. So I don't know what his mindset is. But he does still have talent." Last season with the New York Jets in his first full season since tearing his Achilles, Rodgers completed 63 percent of his passes for 3,897 yards, 28 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions. He performed well and played better than many other quarterbacks around the NFL. Read more: Steelers' Stance on Aaron Rodgers, QB Situation Revealed If he's all-in on the Steelers, the team could be a serious contender with him onboard. Pittsburgh has the talent on the roster to win at a high level with a star quarterback under center. That being said, Rodgers has not proven that he's all-in on the Steelers. Fans will not know that until the 41-year-old quarterback puts pen to paper and shows up to work. Expect to continue hearing daily reports and speculation about Rodgers and Pittsburgh. A deal still seems likely to happen, but it has continued dragging on and causing frustration. For more Pittsburgh Steelers and NFL news, head over to Newsweek Sports.

Would any NFL team hire Bill Belichick? One possibility stands out.

When the Patriots fired Bill Belichick, it seemed inevitable that he'd land another NFL head-coaching job. The vibe has since shifted from inevitability to impossibility. But there's still one team to watch, in our view. It came up during Wednesday's PFT Live, when Simms and I were identifying coaches that need to do more than make the playoffs in 2025. Although Todd Bowles has won the NFC South in each of his three seasons as Tampa Bay's head coach, the Buccaneers have a unique history, to say the least, when it comes to the coaching position. In 2009, they abruptly dumped Jon Gruden for Raheem Morris. Three years later, they hired Greg Schiano. They surprisingly fired Lovie Smith in 2016, apparently in order to avoid losing offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter to another team. And some still believe that Tom Brady's unretirement in 2022 (after his path to Miami was blocked) was conditioned on Bruce Arians being nudged into retirement. Last year, Belichick consigliere Michael Lombardi was spreading a false rumor that Bowles may retire after the season. (Bowles quickly shut that down.) Which sparked speculation that Belichick was eyeballing the Buccaneers. So why would Lombardi be trying to speak a vacancy into existence? Maybe because that's one of the jobs Belichick would want. Even with all of the craziness that has happened of late, the Bucs can't be ruled out as a potential destination for Belichick. Again, they hired Greg Schiano. Much of it depends on what the Bucs do (or don't do) in 2025, and what the Tar Heels do (or don't do) in 2025. Still, with Belichick's buyout down to $1 million as of last Sunday, let's not assume no one at the NFL level will want Belichick. The Bucs have the talent; if ownership decides that an excellent game-day coach could get them back to the top of the mountain, it's not as nutty as it may seem. We're not saying Bowles shouldn't keep the job. We're jus trying to stay ahead of the curve. And the curve could indeed bend in unexpected ways in Tampa. Because it has before. More than once.

The Pittsburgh Steelers reached out to fans upset that Donald Trump received a jersey at a rally

Pittsburgh Steelers legend Rocky Bleier called an audible when he presented President Donald Trump with a Steelers jersey with the No. 47 during a rally in western Pennsylvania last week. Not everyone was thrilled about it. Several fans emailed the team expressing their anger at the gesture, which was not authorized directly by the team. The club responded to those who reached out, writing that the viewpoints of current and former players do not necessarily reflect the view of the organization. Trump was joined on stage at the rally to announce he was doubling tariffs on imported steel by 50% by quarterback Mason Rudolph and safety Myles Killebrew. Rudolph said he saw some of the blowback but did not take it personally. 'That's the nature of social media,' Rudolph said Tuesday after the Steelers wrapped up a voluntary team workout. 'That's the nature of why America is so great. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Speech is free. Par for the course.' Bleier, Rudolph and Killebrew aren't the only people with ties to the Steelers who have appeared with Trump. Former stars Antonio Brown and Le'Veon Bell met Trump when he was stumping in western Pennsylvania ahead of the 2024 election. Former Steelers owner and Hall of Famer Dan Rooney served as the U.S. ambassador to Ireland from 2009-12 during Barack Obama's first term. Download the FREE WPXI News app for breaking news alerts.
