Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that Assam is central to the Northeast Region and is strategically located surrounded by Bhutan and Bangladesh. The State is also central to India's Act East Policy.This statement was made by Sarma on Monday at the inaugural session of the ' Assam Electronics Round Table 2025: Focused strategy, ready infrastructure, invest in Assam' in the national capital.Sarma said that Assam's economy is robust and vibrant, and that the GDP is growing continuously in the region of 13-15 percent in the last 10 years, barring the Covid period.Sarma said Guwahati and other parts of the State have the right infrastructure in place coupled with congenial atmosphere and skilled manpower for the electronics industry to invest in the State.The Chief Minister said the State attracted Rs.5.30 lakh crore proposals during Investors' Summit 2.0 and more proposals are coming post Summit. "There have been lot of interests since Investors' Summit 2.0 and we are getting more proposals following the Summit," he said..Sarma pointed out that 11 five star hotels will come up in the State with the Assam Cabinet clearing the proposals and a state-of-the-art terminal will be opened at the Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport in Guwahati. The Chief Minister said that three satellite townships will come up, including the Jagiroad Integrated Satellite Township near the Tata Greenfield OSAT facility.The Chief Minister said that compared to Semiconductor Fabrication Facility (Fab) in Gujarat, the OSAT in Jagiroad, Assam is way ahead as 'it is in advanced stage with production of 48 million chips daily expected this year'. "There is no problem in implementation; all issues have been resolved with the Chief Secretary making regular visits to the OSAT plant after every 15 days to oversee the progress," he added.Sarma said as the electronics sector will require skilled manpower, the State is sending youths to Bengaluru for necessary training and also create a pool of skilled manpower through the National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT) campus and Assam Skill University funded by the Asian Development Bank for Rs.1,000 crore.The Chief Minister said apart from land free of cost, 60% percent incentive amount over and above extended by the Government of India, and a 100 per cent GST reimbursements to industries on the sale of their finished products, those willing to set up industries will get a slew of incentives under the Central, Assam Electronics Policies, Assam State Industrial Policy, and UNNATI Policy of Government of India. He assured that the State Government will customise its policy and modify and also tweak it, if required, to suit the needs of a specific industry."Besides industrial infrastructure, social infrastructure would also come up near the Tata's OSAT facility," Sarma said. The Chief Minister said Rs, 25,000 crore have been kept aside for Production Linked Incentives (PLIs) and under Top-up Scheme.Urging the investors to come to Assam and visit the OSAT facility in Jagiroad, the Chief Minister said that the Government would offer a host of incentives to them to set up electronic units in the State.Assam Minister for Industries, Commerce and Public Enterprises, Bimal Borah said Assam is equipped with the policies to receive investors with open arms and appealed to them to come and invest in the electronics and other sectors to reap the benefits.Chief Secretary, Ravi Kota gave an overview of the Assam Electronics Components Manufacturing Policy and Top up Scheme 2025. He said the Government has offered 200 percent plus incentives to investors under various schemes and policies; 100 percent land free of cost and skilled workforce.He said Rs.1.5 lakh crore out of the Rs.5.30 lakh crore worth investment proposals submitted during the Investors' Summit 2.0 has been grounded while the rest are being finalised.Commissioner and Secretary, Department of Housing and Urban Affairs, Govt of Assam, Kavitha Padmanabhan gave a detailed presentation on the upcoming Jagiroad Integrated Satellite Township near the Tata OSAT facility spread over a sprawling 416 acres. Padmanabhan said the township with all amenities, including entertainment zone, sports facility and golf course, will house 1,80,000 to 2,00,000 population with expansion plan estimated to cost Rs.4,000 crore.Joint Secretary, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Sushil Pal gave an overview of electronics component manufacturing scheme while Vice President, Invest India, Vinod Subramanian conducted the open house discussion with industry leaders and stakeholders.Purushothaman Lingam from Tata Electronics gave a presentation on upcoming Tata Semiconductor Assembly and Test Facility in Assam.Companies like Jabil, Deki Electronics Ltd., CP Plus, Kaynes Group, NXP, VVDN, Bergen Associates Pvt.Ltd., Boats, Ramakrishna Electronic Components, SAEL, Elcina and others participated in the discussion.Sarma on Monday reviewed the progress of Barduar satellite township in the national capital.At a meeting with senior officials of Guwahati Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) and Department of Housing and Urban Affairs (DoHUA) at Assam House conference hall.Sarma directed the officials to step up the construction work for the upcoming satellite township at Palasbari in Kamrup district.This township spread over 1500 acre will have economic zones for deep tech research, startups and innovation, commercial, residential and social functions, integrated greenway and blueway infrastructure, riverfront rejuvenation and safe and convenient public transport network. Altogether this township will have 150 acre of economic zones and 20 percent of open space and green cover.The Chief Minister also reviewed the Jagiroad Integrated Satellite Township to come up near Tata's semiconductor plant at Jagiroad in Morigaon district.This township to be funded by the Asian Development Bank for Rs.1,000 crore will have all facilities, including housing for employees, hospitals, schools, women hostels, MICE, golf course, vendor logistic park, integrated greenway and blueway infrastructure, public transport network and ease of doing business with plug and play infrastructure. The satellite township will have 40 percent for industrial space and 20 percent of open space and green cover.It will spread over an area of 461 acre under Phase O with further expansion of 2000 acre costing Rs.4,000 crore.Moreover, the status of progress of the new Central Business District in Guwahati City also came up for review. "The project spread over 150 acre intends to develop inclusive, climate resilient, and sustainable urban infrastructure," an official of GMDA said, adding, "Once the satellite townships are constructed, it will ease the burden from Guwahati City under severe strain due to burgeoning population."The Central Business District encompasses a mix of commercial, social, office, cultural and residential functions, high end residential development, vibrant public and recreational space, public transport network, integrated greenway and blueway infrastructure, ease of doing business with plug and play facility. More than 10 million square feet will be earmarked for commercial space with 60 percent area kept for open space and green cover.The overall estimated project cost of these three projects is USD 1 billion.

HYDERABAD: The Union government has raised concerns over the declining enrolment in government schools in Telangana. During a recent Project Approval Board (PAB) meeting of the Samagra Shiksha Scheme, the Department of School Education and Literacy, Ministry of Education (MoE), noted that despite substantial funding and expenditure, students continue to move away from government schools, a trend it described as disturbing. The Centre urged the state government to conduct a thorough analysis of the underlying causes and take corrective measures to reverse this trend. The Union government pointed out that government schools account for only 38.11% (27.8 lakh) of the total enrolment, compared to 60.75% (44.31 lakh) in private schools. Data from 2018–19 to 2023–24, excluding the Covid-affected year of 2021–22, shows a steady rise in private school enrolments. Telangana has a total of 41,901 schools, of which 30,022 (70%) are government-run and 12,126 (28.26%) are private-run. The PAB minutes further revealed that in 2023–24, the number of schools with zero enrolment increased compared to the previous year.

At Rs 98.6 crores it is almost double from last year's Rs 49.3 crores, a 4.2% increase from its reserve price of Rs 94.6 crores. This was Haryana's most expensive excise auction till Chowk is a part of Gurugram's West excise zone.'This year's license auction under the new excise policy was for 22 months(June 2025- March 2027) compared to 12 months in the last 2024-25 auction,' as told by officials to winning bid was placed by a G-Town Wines , it was the lone bidder for this Zone. The terms of the license dictate that it can only open two vends in this second place in the 'highest bids table' went to DLF-3 at Rs 63 crores against a reserve price of Rs. 60 crores. The third highest bid came from Shankar Chowk where the winning bid was the same as its reserve price of Rs. 62 lowest amount that anyone can bid for obtaining the liquor license is its reserve price." 50 out of 79 zones in Gurgaon East were auctioned over the weekend.
