Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that Assam is central to the Northeast Region and is strategically located surrounded by Bhutan and Bangladesh. The Chief Minister said that three satellite townships will come up, including the Jagiroad Integrated Satellite Township near the Tata Greenfield OSAT Chief Minister said that compared to Semiconductor Fabrication Facility (Fab) in Gujarat, the OSAT in Jagiroad, Assam is way ahead as 'it is in advanced stage with production of 48 million chips daily expected this year'. "There is no problem in implementation; all issues have been resolved with the Chief Secretary making regular visits to the OSAT plant after every 15 days to oversee the progress," he said as the electronics sector will require skilled manpower, the State is sending youths to Bengaluru for necessary training and also create a pool of skilled manpower through the National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT) campus and Assam Skill University funded by the Asian Development Bank for Rs.1,000 Chief Minister said apart from land free of cost, 60% percent incentive amount over and above extended by the Government of India, and a 100 per cent GST reimbursements to industries on the sale of their finished products, those willing to set up industries will get a slew of incentives under the Central, Assam Electronics Policies, Assam State Industrial Policy, and UNNATI Policy of Government of India. He assured that the State Government will customise its policy and modify and also tweak it, if required, to suit the needs of a specific industry."Besides industrial infrastructure, social infrastructure would also come up near the Tata's OSAT facility," Sarma said. The Chief Minister said Rs, 25,000 crore have been kept aside for Production Linked Incentives (PLIs) and under Top-up the investors to come to Assam and visit the OSAT facility in Jagiroad, the Chief Minister said that the Government would offer a host of incentives to them to set up electronic units in the Minister for Industries, Commerce and Public Enterprises, Bimal Borah said Assam is equipped with the policies to receive investors with open arms and appealed to them to come and invest in the electronics and other sectors to reap the Secretary, Ravi Kota gave an overview of the Assam Electronics Components Manufacturing Policy and Top up Scheme 2025. Altogether this township will have 150 acre of economic zones and 20 percent of open space and green Chief Minister also reviewed the Jagiroad Integrated Satellite Township to come up near Tata's semiconductor plant at Jagiroad in Morigaon township to be funded by the Asian Development Bank for Rs.1,000 crore will have all facilities, including housing for employees, hospitals, schools, women hostels, MICE, golf course, vendor logistic park, integrated greenway and blueway infrastructure, public transport network and ease of doing business with plug and play infrastructure. The satellite township will have 40 percent for industrial space and 20 percent of open space and green will spread over an area of 461 acre under Phase O with further expansion of 2000 acre costing Rs.4,000 the status of progress of the new Central Business District in Guwahati City also came up for review. "The project spread over 150 acre intends to develop inclusive, climate resilient, and sustainable urban infrastructure," an official of GMDA said, adding, "Once the satellite townships are constructed, it will ease the burden from Guwahati City under severe strain due to burgeoning population."The Central Business District encompasses a mix of commercial, social, office, cultural and residential functions, high end residential development, vibrant public and recreational space, public transport network, integrated greenway and blueway infrastructure, ease of doing business with plug and play facility. More than 10 million square feet will be earmarked for commercial space with 60 percent area kept for open space and green overall estimated project cost of these three projects is USD 1 billion.
