Second phase of NAKSHA Capacity Building Programme to be launched across five National Centres of Excellence from June 2
New Delhi [India], June 1 (ANI): The Department of Land Resources (DoLR), Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India, is going to conduct the second phase of capacity-building under the NAKSHA (National geospatial Knowledge-based land Survey of urban Habitations) programme from June 2, across five Centres of Excellence (CoEs) in the country.
The first phase of capacity building programme to train the 160 master trainers from NAKSHA participating states/UTs has been completed in the month of May 2025, according to the Ministry of Rural Development.
This phase of training programme will be inaugurated virtually by Manoj Joshi, Secretary, Department of Land Resources on June 2. Under this training programme, 304 ULB-level and district officers have been nominated from 157 Urban Local Bodies (ULBs). These officers will undergo hands-on training in leveraging modern geospatial technologies for effective urban property surveys. The training will be conducted for a week starting from June 2 at the following Centres of Excellence institutions: Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA), Mussoorie, Uttarakhand; Yashwantrao Chavan Academy of Development Administration (YASHADA), Pune, Maharashtra; Northeast Region Centre of Excellence, Guwahati, Assam; Mahatma Gandhi State Institute of Public Administration (MGSIPA), Chandigarh, Punjab; Administrative Training Institute (ATI), Mysuru, Karnataka
The training aims to equip ULB officers and field staff with the technical and practical skills required to oversee high-accuracy land surveys under the NAKSHA programme. Modules cover the programme framework, GNSS and ETS-based surveying, Web-GIS application, land parcel mapping, and the legal-administrative aspects of land surveys.
With India's urban population expected to exceed 600 million by 2031, the need for modern, verifiable, and easily accessible land records has become more urgent than ever. The NAKSHA programme addresses this challenge with a bold, technology-driven approach.
NAKSHA programme is being implemented by the department of Land Resources (DoLR), Government of India in association with the Survey of India, NICSI, MPSeDC, and five Centres of Excellence, as a pilot programme. NAKSHA has been launched across 157 Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) in 27 States and 3 Union Territories. (ANI)

Muzaffarpur rape case: Govt takes actions against doctors following victim's death
Patna, Two days after the death of a rape victim from Muzaffarpur district at a state-run hospital in Patna, the Bihar government on Tuesday suspended the Medical Superintendent of the Sri Krishna Medical College & Hospital in Muzaffarpur for dereliction of duty. Similarly, Abhijeet Singh, acting Deputy Superintendent of the Patna Medical College Hospital , where the minor girl succumbed to her injuries on Sunday, was divested of the charges by the state health department, an order dated June 3, 2025, issued by the department said. The girl, who was raped and brutally attacked on May 26, succumbed to her injuries at the PMCH on Sunday morning, amid allegations that she was left waiting in an ambulance for several hours before getting admission at the hospital on Saturday. She was brought to PMCH in critical condition on Saturday after being referred from the Muzaffarpur-based SKMCH. The incident triggered an outcry. "Prime-facie it appears that Dr Kumari Bibha, Medical Superintendent of the SKMCH, did not properly follow the referral policy while handling the case of the rape victim who died on Sunday. It has found that the hospital administration did not handle the case with sensitivity," the order said. "Therefore, till the completion of the enquiry, the department suspends the concerned MS, with immediate effect, for dereliction of duty. During her suspension period, she will remain posted at the health department headquarters in Patna," the order said. The order also said that the acting Deputy Superintendent, Abhijeet Singh, did not handle the case properly when the victim was brought to the PMCH on Saturday, and it shows his "administrative failure". Therefore, he is divested of the additional charges, it said. The girl, who was raped in her village in Muzaffarpur district. Her throat and chest were brutally slashed by the accused after the assault. The accused, who was arrested by the police, had attempted to kill her by slitting her throat.

Jammu and Kashmir LG dismisses 3 more government employees for alleged links with terror groups
Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Tuesday terminated the services of three more government employees for their alleged involvement with Pakistan-based terror groups, Lashkar-e-Taiba and Hizbul Mujahideen, NDTV reported. This takes the number of such terminations since 2020 to 83. The three persons who have been removed are Malik Ishfaq Naseer, a police constable, Ajaz Ahmed, a government school teacher and Waseem Ahmad Khan, a junior assistant at the Government Medical College in Srinagar, according to government orders issued by the general administration department. The government orders announcing the sackings said that the three persons had been dismissed under Article 311 of the Constitution. This provision protects civil servants from arbitrary dismissal but allows exceptions on the grounds of national security. Commenting on the terminations, Peoples Democratic Party chief Mehbooba Mufti asked why the Jammu and Kashmir government was watching the development 'completely unmoved like a mute bystander'. 'Since 2019 hundred of employees have been summarily dismissed without even a trial solely based on unproven allegations of so called terror affiliations,' Mufti said. 'While this iron fist approach may create a facade of normalcy genuine sustainable peace can't be achieved by inflicting suffering on people.'
