Pakistan reaffirms stance on terrorism, occupation
ISLAMABAD:
Pakistan on Tuesday reiterated its firm and unchanged stance on terrorism and foreign occupation, dismissing misinterpretations circulating in certain media circles.
In a statement issued by the Foreign Office Spokesperson, it was emphasized that Pakistan remained committed to its well-established policy on the matter.
The spokesperson expressed regret over what was described as a "quaint spin" by some media outlets, which allegedly distorted and misrepresented Pakistan's position.
The statement clarified that this also misinterpreted Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and international consensus on counter-terrorism and foreign occupation.
The spokesperson added that during the UN Security Council briefing on "Threats to international peace & security caused by terrorist acts" held on 10 February 2025, the Permanent Representative of Pakistan said "we must address the root causes of terrorism that include poverty, injustice and prolonged unresolved conflicts, foreign occupation and denial of the right to self-determination to peoples under colonial and foreign domination and alien rule, such as in the occupied territories of Palestine and Jammu and Kashmir. Without addressing the root causes, we can hope for little success if our focus remains restricted to the consequences of such policies."
Pakistan and the OIC have long emphasized the need for a comprehensive counter-terrorism approach that addresses the root causes of terrorism, including conflict resolution, the end of foreign occupation, opposition to oppression, and efforts to eradicate poverty while promoting sustainable economic growth and development.
This stance also aligns with the United Nations General Assembly Resolution 60/288 on the "Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy."

No amount of rhetoric can change this legal and historical reality," it added. "Claims of development in IIOJK ring hollow against the backdrop of an unprecedented military presence, suppression of fundamental freedoms, arbitrary arrests, and a concerted effort to alter the region's demography in violation of international law, including the Fourth Geneva Convention." The Foreign Office reiterated that Pakistan remained steadfast in its principled support for the people of Jammu and Kashmir in their just struggle for their rights and dignity. It urged the international community to hold India accountable for its reign of oppression in IIOJK.

Pakistan condemns Israeli airstrikes on Lebanon
ISLAMABAD: The Government of Pakistan unequivocally condemned air strikes by Israeli forces on Beirut's southern suburbs and parts of southern Lebanon on 5 June 2025, Foreign Office spokesperson said in a statement. These attacks, launched on the eve of Eid al-Adha, constitute a blatant violation of international law, sovereignty of Lebanon, and the ceasefire agreement of November 2024. Such statements represent a deliberate attempt to deflect international attention from the grave and persistent human rights violations being committed in a territory under foreign occupation, Foreign Office (FO) Spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan said in a statement. 'We are deeply dismayed that the Indian Prime Minister has once again chosen to accuse Pakistan of involvement in the Pahalgam attack, without presenting a single piece of credible evidence,' the spokesperson added. Pakistan rejects Modi's truce narrative, vows to 'closely monitor Indian actions' He pointed out that occupied Jammu and Kashmir remains an internationally recognised disputed territory, the final status of which is to be determined in accordance with the relevant United Nations Security Council (UNSC) resolutions and the will of the Kashmiri people.
