Police in Australia seized more than a ton of cocaine and arrested five people in a maritime raid this past Friday.
The Australian Federal Police (AFP) stated that the New South Wales (NSW) Police Force first obtained intelligence in relation to a 'suspicious purchase' of a 13-meter motor cruiser that was paid for 'with a large sum of cash' in Sydney's Sutherland Shire on April 28.

NSW Police began an investigation that targeted drug supply and money laundering and continued to gather information, including movements of the vessel and people associated with the group.
According to the AFP, officers noticed the boat sailing north from the coastal city of Port Macquarie on May 9 and intercepted it as it traveled back to shore toward the town of South West Rocks, about 50 miles north of where it departed.
Two men on board the boat, aged 24 and 26, were arrested at sea and escorted via a police boat to shore where they were taken to a local police station. Bodycam footage recorded during the raid shows large bundles of contraband scattered throughout a room on the two-story boat; a picture released by AFP shows that at least one of the bundles was wrapped with a Louis Vuitton label.
'Police allege approximately 1,110 blocks of cocaine, weighing 1.039 tons, were located on the vessel,' an Australian Federal Police release states. 'The seized cocaine equates to over a million individual hits, with an estimated potential street value of $623.4 million AUD.'
$623.4 million AUD equates to roughly $400 million USD.

While the two men were being arrested on the boat nine nautical miles offshore, three men in two vehicles were arrested after they were stopped while trying to leave the area.
None of the five men were identified by name, and footage released by Australian law enforcement had their faces blurred. All of them were charged with supplying a prohibited drug in a large commercial quantity and participating in a criminal group.
The investigation into the origin of the drug and the group's alleged associates remains ongoing.
'Australia's vast coastline is attractive to organized crime groups, who attempt to exploit this by trying to import drugs using boats,' Australian Federal Police Commissioner Stephen Dametto said, per the AFP release. 'The bad news for them is the AFP will continue to work together with our partners to target organized crime syndicates who wrongly believe they can operate with impunity.'

Hundreds online call for boycott of midwest grocery chain after local manager has 19-year-old autistic deli worker arrested for ‘stealing' fruit cups and ‘portions of chicken': video

Midwestern supermarket chain Meijer is coming under fire after recently released police bodycam footage showed a store manager having a 19-year-old autistic deli worker arrested for 'stealing' food. Footage circulating on social media in the past few days shows James Denison being confronted by police in the manager's office of a Seven Hills, Ohio, Meijer location on March 7, 2024. James Denison, then 19, was arrested for 'stealing' fruit cups and portions of chicken while working at the supermarket Meijer. Seven Hills PD Video showed the seemingly self-satisfied store manager make the petty accusations against the teen, who sheepishly sits in a store-branded polo shirt. 'So we have, uh, James here,' the unidentified store manager told the officer, pointing a finger gun at the boy, the clip shows. 'He works in our deli department and we found out that he's just been taking some, like, orders of chicken and fruit cups and stuff like that,' the bald man said with an odd smile creeping onto his face. The manager claimed the 'theft' amounted to $110 over a three-month period — which Denison said was the cost of some of his shift lunches, which he forgot to repay. The teen, who remained calm and compliant throughout, was then searched and handcuffed in the office, the video showed. He told the officer that he lives locally and walks to work every day. When asked if Denison had any of the allegedly stolen items on his person, the manager replied that before the meeting, the teen had eaten a portion of chicken in the break room. Meijer has locations throughout the Midwest. The enraging arrest occurred at a Seven Hills, Ohio, location. AFP via Getty Images The teen was then put in the back of a police vehicle and taken to the local precinct, where he was booked for minor theft. The arresting officer attempted to calm the frightened Denison during the trip, the footage shows. 'We do things a little differently than a lot of departments. We kind of help people out,' the officer said. Despite being understanding, the officer arrested, fingerprinted, and booked Denison, who was released without bond, according to the video. The video recently circulated on social media, with many users calling for a boycott of Meijer. Hundreds posted on X with the hashtag 'boycottmeijer' and thousands have commented on viral clips from the bodycam footage. A GoFundMe launched Sunday on behalf of Denison by Kerry Campbell, a registered nurse in Florida, has already raised $28K for Denison's legal fees, transportation, cost of living, and food. Meijer did not respond to The Post's request for comment.

6 severed heads found by side of the road along with chilling message in one of Mexico's safest regions

Six severed heads have been found by the side of the road in Mexico alongside a chilling message in an area where such brutal violence is rare, Mexican prosecutors said. The male remains were discovered by a road linking the central Mexican states of Puebla and Tlaxcala, prosecutors said on Tuesday. Alongside the heads was a pamphlet blaming the savage killings on the settling of scores between rival gangs, the prosecutor's office said in a statement. 'The State Attorney General's Office (FGJE) has initiated an investigation into the discovery of six male head limbs near the states of Puebla and Tlaxcala,' the office said as they announced an inquiry into the murders. AFP via Getty Images 'The State Attorney General's Office will continue the relevant investigations to clarify what happened and hold accountable whoever is found responsible,' the statement concluded. Both Puebla and Tlaxcala are usually considered among the safest states in Mexico to visit, the US State Department designating them a Level 2 travel advisory, the second-lowest warning. Advertisement Tlaxcala accounts for just 0.5% of the 14,769 intentional homicides recorded in Mexico this year so far, while Puebla accounts for 3.4%, according to official figures. They were found in Tlaxcala in central Mexico. Romeo – However, the State Department notes that both states face issues with criminal gangs who move drugs, fuel and humans through central Mexico. Extreme violence — including decapitation — is usually concentrated around northern and western states along the Pacific coast. Advertisement In June, 20 bodies, five of them headless, were discovered under a bridge along a road in northwest Sinaloa. However, there have been more gruesome crimes in southern Mexico in recent months. In March, the dismembered bodies of nine missing students were found by the side of a highway on the border of Puebla and Oaxaca. A bag of hands belonging to the students was discovered nearby.

National Guard vehicle collides with civilian car, traps one person near US Capitol

WASHINGTON — A National Guard vehicle collided with a civilian car less than a mile from the U.S. Capitol on Thursday morning as troops continued to take up positions around the city during President Donald Trump's crackdown. One person was trapped inside the car after the accident and had to be extricated by emergency responders, according to D.C. fire department spokesman Vito Maggiolo. The person was transported to a hospital with minor injuries. It was not immediately clear what caused the crash. A video posted online showed a tan-colored armored vehicle and a silver SUV with a crushed side. The military vehicle was twice the height of the civilian car. Seriously?' a woman yelled at the troops in the video. The driver was conscious and breathing, and the injuries were not considered life threatening, police said. More than half are coming from Republican-led states that are responding to requests from Trump administration officials. Attorney General Pam Bondi said more than 550 people have been arrested so far, and the U.S. Marshals are offering $500 rewards for information leading to additional arrests. 'Together, we will make DC safe again!' Bondi wrote on social media.
