Will Bucs Star WR Make History in 2025?
Former Texas A&M Aggies and current Tampa Bay Buccaneers star wideout Mike Evans is on the verge of history.
Last season, Evans completed an incredible run of 11 straight seasons with at least 1,000 yards receiving. He's the first player to accomplish that in his first 11 seasons in the league, and the second player ever to reach that mark, after Hall of Famer Jerry Rice.

Rice notched 927 yards in his rookie season in 1985 before rattling off 11 consecutive years of 1,000 yards from 1986-1996. The legendary receiver's streak was broken by a torn ACL and MCL suffered in the opening week of the 1997 season. But Rice would have three more 1,000-yard seasons over the next seven before his retirement.
Evans had his own close call last season when he missed three games with a hamstring injury.
Evans caught a nine-yard pass on the last play of the last game of the regular season to reach the 1,000-yard mark and tie Rice for the most in NFL history.
Now, hopefully fully healthy, Evans can find his pre-hamstring injury form and take advantage of the chemistry he's developed with veteran quarterback Baker Mayfield to set a new league mark.

The former Aggies' best season was in 2018 when he caught 86 balls for a career-high 1,524 yards and eight touchdowns. He caught his career-best 96 passes in 2016, and has failed to hit the 1,100-yard mark five times, for some close calls along the way.
Evans posted 1,051 yards in 2016, 1,001 yards in 2017, 1,006 yards in 2020, 1,035 yards in 2021 and 1,004 yards last season.

The Pittsburgh Steelers have benefited from first-round picks on the offensive line and veteran stalwarts on the defensive line. At cornerback, though, the Steelers have relied largely on unproven talents at corner. Advertisement Second-round corner Joey Porter Jr. has been penciled in atop the depth chart. Behind him, Pittsburgh is searching for answers. It signed Super Bowl champion Darius Slay early in free agency and added fringe starter Brandin Echols. In the slot, Beanie Bishop Jr. will hope to entrench himself as a starter after flashing as a rookie. One wild card in the secondary is developmental corner Cory Trice Jr., who, according to Mark Kaboly, is taking strides at the Steelers' organized team activities (OTAs). "You know who I wanna bring up is Cory Trice, too. He's a guy that if he can just stay healthy, I think has a very legit opportunity to be that DB two next year," Kaboly said. "He could be the long-term answer next to Joey Porter. My goodness does he just look the part. He's looking faster, quicker, he's looking more comfortable. But the injuries just tend to pile up on the guy. If he stays healthy, he has a chance to be a guy that not only helps this team out this year, but long-term in the future." Trice, a 2023 seventh-round pick, saw his hype cut short by a torn ACL in his rookie season. He made his debut in 2024, playing in six games while logging an interception and two passes defended. Advertisement Trice played well in his limited action a season ago, but the small sample size wasn't enough to lock in a starting role. He'll have to play himself into Pittsburgh's plans this summer, and it seems like it is going well thus far. To his credit, Trice's upside lends itself to multiple chances. At 6-3, 206 with adequate speed and impressive explosiveness metrics, Trice is a playmaker who may be on the verge of earning a starting job. He'd have to leapfrog Slay, barring injury, so Kaboly's expectations are measured. But if Pittsburgh needs reinforcement on the boundary, expecting Trice to be more than a replacement-level player seems increasingly reasonable. During his 2024-2025 season with Dynamic Prep, Hampton averaged 7.8 points per game and shot above 60% from the field. Former Texas A&M wide receiver is facing a season-ending injury The Oregon Ducks received unfortunate news on Friday when it was announced that star wide receiver Evan Stewart suffered an injury that could sideline him for most of the 2025 season, if not the entire year. According to Ducks Wire's Zachary Neel, multiple sources confirmed that former five-star senior WR Evan Stewart sustained a knee injury, which will keep him out for most of next season. The former Texas A&M Aggie was expected to be a key contributor for the Ducks after losing Tex Johnson and Traeshon Holden to the NFL. While at Texas A&M, Stewart showed flashes of talent, recording 91 receptions for 1,163 yards and six touchdowns in his two seasons in the Maroon & White. He earned All-SEC and All-American honors after his freshman season but struggled to stay on the field. Of the 25 possible games, he played in just 18, missing a third of the 2023 season. Stewart will likely use a redshirt year, and we wish him a speedy recovery for the 2026 football season.
