Textiles Store Front For 'Lashkar Module' Busted In Delhi's Lajpat Nagar, 2 Arrested
Raids at the textiles shop blew the lid off a cross-border terror funding network linked to Pakistan-based LeT, which was allegedly pumping funds into Kashmir for terror activities
The counter-intelligence Kashmir unit of Jammu and Kashmir police claimed to have busted a Lashkar module masquerading as a textiles store in New Delhi's Lajpat Nagar on Wednesday.
The investigation blew the lid off a cross-border terror funding network linked to Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), which was pumping funds into Kashmir for terror activities via couriers posing as pilgrims, businessmen, and expatriates, police said.
According to the police, they carried out searches at a business unit by the name of 'Shalimar Textiles' in Lajpat Nagar, being run by a Budgam resident identified as Mohammad Ayoub Bhat. He was posing as a trader while serving as a key financial conduit for the LeT's terror activity in the Valley, the police said. His aide, identified as Mohammad Rafiq Shah, was also central to this covert financial operation, they said.
Police seized digital evidence, including communications with suspected Pakistani handlers, foreign remittances via underground hawala networks, and encrypted chats with terror affiliates. These devices and documents are presently undergoing forensic analysis, they said.
They said counter-intelligence teams, along with the Delhi Police, searched premises in Lajpat Nagar on warrants issued under the NIA Act. This operation is part of a broader investigation under a UAPA case.
Police further said initial questioning of the accused suggests the involvement of an international terror funding network, involving foreign-based handlers, Gulf-based sympathisers, and local overground workers (OGW).

2 held in cheating case involving fake US currency exchange
The Chandigarh Police has arrested two persons accused in a cheating and fraud case involving fake US currency exchange. The accused have been identified as Mohammad Hazrat (32), a resident of Mundi Kharar, Mohali, and Sangam (35), of Kajheri village, Sector 52, Chandigarh. Both are unemployed. According to the police, a case was registered on the complaint of Ashish Kumar, a resident of Zirakpur, who works in accounts branch of a Kharar-based firm. On July 31, Ashish was approached by Hazrat, who claimed to possess $4,000 and offered to sell it at half the market rate. The meeting was fixed in Burail, Sector 45, where Ashish arrived with Rs 1.70 lakh. Hazrat, accompanied by associates, allegedly showed him two bundles of $20 notes in a small bag and, after taking the money, handed over the bag. When Ashish opened it later, it was empty. The accused neither delivered the dollars nor returned the cash. Both suspects were arrested on August 7, after being identified by the complainant. Police said further investigation is underway, and the duo will be produced in court for judicial custody.

Lucknow man arrested for sexually abusing stray dog
Agency: PTI Lucknow, Aug 9 (PTI) A 24-year-old man in Lucknow was on Saturday arrested for allegedly sexually abusing a stray dog, police said. The incident occurred on Thursday night in the Patrakarpuram area under Gomti Nagar police station limits. A video of the act began circulating on social media the following day. According to an officer from Gomti Nagar police station, the case came to light after representatives of a local NGO lodged a complaint upon seeing the video. 'The accused was identified as Sonu Vishwakarma, a resident of the Vinay Khand area, and arrested on Saturday following an investigation," the official told PTI. The police said that prima facie, the accused appeared to be mentally unstable. Gang of thieves busted in Latur, six arrested
Last Updated: Latur, Aug 9 (PTI) Police in Maharashtra's Latur district on Saturday claimed to have solved nine cases of theft and burglary with the arrest of six persons and seizure of stolen goods and vehicles worth Rs 24.8 lakh. The arrests were made on the intervening night of August 2 and 3, an official said. The accused were identified as Rihan Mustafa Shaikh (20), Anwar Jalalkha Pathan (24), Hafeez Mumtajuddin Shaikh (36), Sadiq Mohammad Yasin Mohammad (44) and Farukh Nabi Shaikh (27). A tempo, sharp-edged weapons, sticks, iron pipes, fake number plates, grinder machine, iron chains and tools for burglary were seized from their possession. Three other members of the gang managed to escape under the cover of darkness, the official said. Interrogation revealed that the gang had committed multiple burglaries in Ausa, Killari, Bhada, Renapur, Chakur, Ahmedpur and even in neighbouring states, he said. A parallel probe led to the arrest of another gang member, Sameer Shamsuddin Shaikh (30), from Beed. He was found in possession of banned gutkha worth Rs 5.72 lakh and an Innova car valued at Rs 8 lakh. Further searches led to the recovery of stolen goods including cigarettes, rice, soap, branded tobacco, cooking oil, cashews, almonds and other grocery items worth Rs 4 lakh, looted by the gang after breaking into shops at night.
