IPL 2025: RR vs MI head-to-head, Jaipur weather forecast, toss stats
The Rajasthan Royals (RR) are gearing up for a pivotal encounter in their IPL 2025 campaign as they prepare to face the resurgent Mumbai Indians (MI). The two teams will lock horns in Match 50 of the season at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Thursday, May 1.
RR enter this match on a high after securing a commanding eight-wicket win against Gujarat Titans in their previous outing. The victory was highlighted by a sensational century from 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi, whose remarkable innings helped the Royals end their five-game losing streak. With that win, the Riyan Parag-led squad has managed to keep their playoff chances just about alive. Currently placed eighth on the points table with six points and a net run rate of -0.349, every match now becomes a virtual knockout for the Jaipur-based franchise.
In contrast, Mumbai Indians have staged a remarkable comeback in the tournament. After a shaky start to their campaign, the Hardik Pandya-led unit has found its groove, stringing together five consecutive wins to catapult themselves to second place in the standings. From languishing near the bottom of the table, MI have turned things around with strong performances across all departments and are now eyeing a finish in the top two—crucial for a direct path to Qualifier 1.
With both teams chasing different objectives—RR fighting for survival and MI aiming for the top spot—this upcoming fixture in Jaipur promises to be a high-stakes, high-energy contest. Fans can expect fireworks as form, momentum, and playoff ambitions collide at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium.

Under BJP govt, Yoga Day to make official debut in Delhi on June 21
New Delhi: In a first, the BJP-led Delhi government will celebrate the upcoming International Yoga Day on June 21 at 11 sports complexes, marking an end of a blanket ban on official events on the occasion imposed by the previous AAP government, an official said on Saturday. Education Minister Ashish Sood said that for the first time the Delhi Government, in collaboration with the Government of India, will officially host International Yoga Day events in the capital. Sood chaired a review meeting at the Delhi Secretariat to oversee the preparations for the upcoming International Yoga Day and the "Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam 2.0" campaign. Chief Secretary, Delhi government, Director, Directorate of Education, among other senior officials also attended the meeting, an official said. The Minister said International Yoga Day celebrations will be held at 11 key locations including Thyagaraj Stadium, East Vinod Nagar Sports Complex, Jhilmil Colony, Bawana, Prahladpur, Bharat Nagar, Yamuna Bank, Najafgarh Stadium, Dwarka Sector-6, Ashok Nagar Hockey Stadium, among others. Sood emphasised that the primary objective of the initiative is to promote physical and mental wellness while encouraging the practice of yoga among students, teachers, and the community. Nearly 20,000 participants are expected to join, including students and teachers from Delhi government schools, yoga instructors, NSS/NCC cadets, and civil defence volunteers. Chhatrasal Stadium has been selected as the main venue, where around 10,000 participants will engage in yoga practice, supported by 5,000 volunteers from the Bharatiya Yog Sansthan. Each of the other 10 venues will host approximately 1,000 participants each. The Minister also stated that all participants will be provided T-shirts, water, refreshments, and yoga mats. Each yoga venue will be equipped with medical facilities, ambulances, fire safety arrangements, mobile toilets, sanitation, fogging, electricity, and water supply. Additionally, Delhi Police will handle security and traffic management. All major venues will feature CCTV surveillance, traffic signages, colour-coded parking passes (Red, Green, Yellow), and special arrangements for emergency services. He said District Magistrates have been directed to ensure participant transportation, safety, refreshment distribution, and availability of yoga mats and T-shirts in their respective areas. They have also been instructed to invite schools, colleges, community leaders, yoga instructors, and heads of government offices to participate and promote yoga. The event will be broadcast live on the website. Talking about 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam 2.0', Sood said on June 9 Chief Minister Rekha Gupta will plant a sapling at Rajkiya Pratibha Vikas Vidyalaya, Shalimar Bagh, to popularise the campaign. The initiative supports the Government of India's target of planting 10 crore (100 million) saplings. He said to complement the Centre's campaign, the Delhi Government aims to plant 3.7 lakh saplings in 2025-26, including 1 lakh trees, 2 lakh shrubs, and 70,000 bamboo plants in schools, near main roads, and in large parks.

Shreyas Iyer 'Officially Joins India's White-Ball Captaincy' Race: Report
Last Updated: Shreyas Iyer's impressive performance as Punjab Kings captain in IPL 2025 has now helped him officially join India's white-ball captaincy race. Shreyas Iyer was in red-hot form for India in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, and he maintained his performance for Punjab Kings as well in the recently concluded 2025 edition of the Indian Premier League. The right-handed batter from Mumbai, who finished as India's leading run getter in the ICC event played from February 19 to March 19 in three venues across Pakistan and one in Dubai, amassed a total of 604 runs in 17 matches for Punjab Kings. Apart from his batting masterclass, Iyer made headlines for his leadership as well and captained Punjab Kings to their first IPL final since 2014. Unfortunately, Iyer failed to win his second straight IPL title as captain, but he did enough to catch attention, and according to a report in Indian Express on Saturday (June 7), he has now officially joined India's white-ball captaincy race. 'Right now he just plays ODIs, but after this IPL we can't keep him out of T20 internationals and even Tests. Plus, he also has now officially joined the white-ball captaincy race," one of Indian cricket's influential decision-makers was quoted as saying by Indian Express. Iyer, who has played 14 Tests, 70 ODIs and 51 T20Is so far, last played a Test match for India in February 2024, and his last T20I appearance was against Australia in December 2023. Iyer, who led Kolkata Knight Riders to the IPL 2024 title last year, has made a big name for himself as captain in domestic cricket, but he has never got a chance to captain the Indian men's team in any format of the game. It was expected that he would be considered for a place in India's Test team for the upcoming five-match series against England after the retirements of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, but he was ignored by the Ajit Agarkar-led selection committee. Iyer's absence from the 18-member squad came as a surprise for fans around the world. Iyer, who is playing for SoBo Mumbai Falcons in T20 Mumbai 2025 these days, will next take the field for Team India in August 2025 when the Men in Blue travel to Bangladesh for three-match ODI and three-match T20I series.
