"We were the first ones in," she says in her now-viral Instagram reel. "Oh my God. Nobody is here. This is the most magical thing I've ever seen in my life." Her video captures the soft glow of dawn as she walks through the towering gates, the pink-tinged sky behind her, birds chirping, the marble monument ahead bathed in sleepy light. With not a single tourist in sight, it's just her, the sunrise, and the grandeur of one of the Seven Wonders of the World.
In her caption, Krista wrote, "When dreams really do come true. This has to be one of the most magical experiences of my life. Running around the Taj Mahal at 5 am like a princess. Just the sound of the birds waking to the rising sun. The Taj Mahal grounds completely empty of tourists, not a soul in sight; It was like a dream."

She entered through the East Gate at 4:45 am, guided by a local named Don, who ensured she had the place to herself. 'He whisked us around so we could arrive in the grounds completely alone, he took us to the best photo spots and made the most incredible pictures,' she wrote, adding that she was moved to tears seeing how beautiful the photos turned out.
Krista described the walk as otherworldly. The tall minarets, the dark archways opening into the soft morning light, and the sheer silence that surrounded the structure. 'Truly, truly spectacular,' she wrote. Krista also shared valuable tips for those looking to recreate her magical experience: 'If you go to the Taj Mahal, Arrive at the East Gate by 4:45 am, as the gates open at 5:00 am. Find Don, you'll see his picture at the end of the reel. Make sure to carry Indian Rupees and tip him generously because you won't be disappointed.'
Standing tall on the banks of the Yamuna River in Agra, the Taj Mahal is a must-see on any visit to India.

Mohol flags off flight to Goa from refurbished Solapur airport, cites CM's financial support for Mumbai flight
Kolhapur: Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis has approved viability gap funding for airline operators to launch commercially viable Solapur-Mumbai flight services, minister of state for civil aviation Murlidhar Mohol said on Monday after flagging off the Solapur-Goa flight from the refurbished Hotagi Road airport after a 15-year hiatus. CM Fadnavis was slated to be the chief guest for the event. The authorities, however, said his Mumbai-Solapur flight did not take off because of poor visibility. The Goa-based airline will operate flights on four days a week — Monday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday — from the airport. The flight took off from Goa's Mopa Airport, landed at Solapur and then took off back to Goa. "Starting commercial flight service from Solapur airport was long due. We refurbished the airport through the UDAN Scheme. Now, we look to develop more facilities like night landing and runway extension at the airport. We also plan to start service to Tirupati and Hyderabad. The CM has approved viability gap funding to operate flights between Solapur and Mumbai, which will start over the next two months," Mohol said. Viability gap funding is a financial support mechanism provided by govt to airlines to ensure affordable air travel, particularly on regional routes. It helps cover the gap between the cost of airline operations and the expected revenue on such routes, making regional air connectivity more accessible. The UDAN Scheme utilises viability gap funding as a key component, with govt compensating airlines for losses due to low fares. "Before 2014, there were only 74 airports across the country, which have increased to 161 now. The aviation industry has been revolutionised under the able leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. We have centres of worship in Solapur, such as Pandharpur and Tuljapur. Connecting these places via air helps grow trade and tourism," Mohol added.

India's first envoy to Bolivia has a Gujarat connection, is a native of Okha
Ahmedabad: Rohitkumar Vadhwana, 44, made history when he was recently appointed as the first ambassador to the Plurinational State of Bolivia. He heads India's first mission in the South American country known for its natural resources. "Now, I am in La Paz, tasked with setting up an embassy from the ground up," explains the envoy with a Gujarat connection, the scale of the job evident in his voice. "First, we set up the office and recruit staff. It's a matter of laying the foundation of the Indian mission," says Vadhwana, an Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer of the 2010 batch with an illustrious career. His path has taken him from Embassy of India in Iran to Indian High Commissions in the UK and Kenya. He also had a stint as deputy permanent representative to the UNEP and UN-Habitat during his tenure in Nairobi. Speaking to TOI about his 'unconventional' journey from the coastal town of Okha to the highlands of La Paz, he said, "I did not know about the Union Public Service Commission exams till I graduated in 2003. In Porbandar, he earned his LLB degree from Saurashtra University and also pursued an MA through distance learning. "It was advice from a well-wisher that put me on the path to becoming a civil servant. I enrolled at the Sardar Patel Institute of Public Administration (SPIPA) in 2004-05 and other organisations for preparations," he said. In Ahmedabad, while he was preparing for his career in civil service, he also achieved a personal milestone – he met Femida Shaikh, the love of his life, and the couple eventually married. Vadhwana even took a year's break to address challenges of their inter-religious union. The last fiscal year saw India exporting automobiles and pharmaceuticals to Bolivia and importing gold and fertilisers from Bolivia. "As a mission, we are committed to increasing bilateral trade," he said. "India is keen explore collaborations in critical sectors such as infrastructure, mining, minerals, and energy."

Mangaluru: Undeterred by the recent setback of direct flights between Mangaluru and Singapore failing to take off, Singapore-based NRIs launched an alternative strategy to boost tourism in Coastal Karnataka. Their new initiative, a series of curated tour packages for Singaporeans to Mangaluru, aims to significantly increase tourist traffic, ultimately reviving hopes for direct air connectivity. The first tour, 'Ashta Kshetra Darshan', a five-day spiritual and sightseeing journey, commences on June 13, with an inaugural batch of a small group. This marks a crucial step in showcasing the region's unique appeal. Future plans include 'Exotic Tulunadu' for adventure and beaches, and 'Rome of the East' focusing on historical churches and recreation. Rajesh H Acharya, director of HQ Connections Pte Ltd, Singapore, curated the tour packages with an aim to promote tourism in Coastal Karnataka, and to encourage direct flights from Singapore to Coastal Karnataka.
