Bronny James Reveals His Expectations For The Lakers Next Season
After an encouraging rookie campaign, Bronny James is eager to continue his NBA career with the Lakers. This past season, they made it to the first round of the playoffs, but Bronny says they can do better in the 2025-26 campaign.

'Obviously, being on the team, I think we're going to come back even better than we were last year,' Bronny said, via ESPN's Dave McMenamin. 'We just got to come in here and come in the gym with a purpose and be ready to work every day and be ready to get better every day.'
As the son of an NBA legend, Bronny's path to the NBA was not the typical one. Unlike many of his peers, he was born under the spotlight and grew accustomed to the celebrity lifestyle at an early age. Of course, James did his best to prepare Bronny with years of guidance, parenting, and setting the example on the court.
Despite modest averages in college (4.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.1 assists over 25 games), Bronny was able to earn his place on the Lakers, thanks to the endorsement of his dad, who did everything in his power to make his dream a reality.
Since being drafted 55th overall in 2024, James has been a permanent member of the Lakers, and he's been working to develop his game and find a place in the rotation. Last season, between the G-League and NBA, Bronny showed flashes of greatness, but he put up modest stats with a stat line of 2.7 points, 0.7 rebounds, and 0.8 assists per game on 31.3% shooting.

Working closely with JJ Redick and the coaching staff, Bronny was given a lot of care and attention last season, and the Lakers are hoping it will pay off as early as next year. Bronny, 20, is likely to be a part of the team's rotation next season as he settles into the backup point guard role.
It remains to be seen how James' game will improve, but he fully expects the Lakers to take a step up in the West. After finishing third in the standings (50-32), Los Angeles is limited in their potential moves this summer, but they still managed to pick up some interesting players, including Adou Thiero, Eric Dixon, and Jake LaRavia.
Most importantly, the Lakers were able to sign Deandre Ayton on a two-year deal. Ayton's arrival gives LA the center it desperately needed while providing Luka Doncic with the kind of rim-running big man he's thrived with his whole career.
With the new roster, deeper chemistry, and more experience for JJ Redick, Bronny feels comfortable expecting a leap from the Lakers next season, and he fully expects to be competing in the spring.

As rumors swirl regarding his dad's loyalties, Bronny is ignoring all the noise and keeping his head focused on the work. With so much to prove in the NBA, Bronny James isn't out to make headlines, and he's not trying to make friends. He wants to win at the highest level and is willing to do whatever it takes to make it happen.

Former NFL QB Shuts Down Arch Manning Hype Train With Blunt Verdict
Former NFL QB Shuts Down Arch Manning Hype Train With Blunt Verdict originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Arch Manning hype train has been gaining steam all offseason, but ESPN analyst Jordan Rodgers is slamming on the brakes. Advertisement Rodgers, the younger brother of four-time NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers and a mainstay on the SEC Network, didn't hold back when asked if Manning deserved to be called the top quarterback in the SEC heading into 2025. "That is fiction," Rodgers said bluntly while appearing on ESPN's "Get Up" in response to the question from Peter Schrager. "And y'all have been drinking Paul Finebaum's Kool-Aid for way too long." Rodgers was taking direct aim at recent takes — including one from Paul Finebaum — that have anointed Manning as potentially the best quarterback in the conference this season. After a redshirt year in 2023, followed by flashes of brilliance in limited action last fall, Manning has become one of the most talked-about players in college football. But Rodgers isn't buying into the buzz. Not even close. Advertisement "I have [Manning] as the fifth best. Let me repeat that. The fifth best quarterback in the SEC," Rodgers continued. "The hype train is out of control and what are we basing this on?" It's a fair question. Manning's most notable performances last season came against UTSA, Louisiana-Monroe and Mississippi State — teams that ranked 102nd, 93rd and 118th in scoring defense, respectively. "Look, I love Arch," Rodgers clarified. "I think he has a very high floor. But I don't think he's an elite talent when it comes to his arm, his arm ability, his ability to manipulate the pocket, to make guys miss, to change his arm angle." Brazziell/American-Statesman / USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images Rodgers did acknowledge Manning's upside, but he made it clear the Texas quarterback still has plenty to prove before being crowned anything in the SEC. "I think he's a really good quarterback, but the hype train's out of control." As Manning enters his first season as Texas' full-time starter, he'll have every opportunity to prove his doubters wrong. But if he stumbles, don't be surprised if Rodgers is the first one saying, 'I told you so.' Former Wisconsin basketball forward signs professional contract
Proud of you Markus!#Badgers @MarkusIlver has signed a deal with @Unitartubasket! Former Wisconsin basketball forward Markus Ilver signed a deal with the University of Tartu men's basketball team on Monday. Located in Tartu, Estonia, the pro squad competes under the University of Tartu Academic Sports Club umbrella and suits up against opponents in the Estonian-Latvian Basketball League and the Korvpalli Meistriliiga. The organization is responsible for over 25 Estonian League Championships and nearly 20 Estonian cup titles. Following a four-year stint with the Badgers in Madison, Ilver will now travel to compete in his home country. A native of Tallinn, Estonia, Ilver arrived at UW after a pair of high school seasons, one at Western Reserve Academy in Hudson, Ohio, and one at Massanutten Military Academy in Virginia. Ilver played 72 total games from 2019-25, logging a career-best 27 appearances as a junior during the 2023-24 slate. The 6-foot-9 forward averaged 1.3 points and 0.9 rebounds in 5.2 minutes off the bench in a depth role. On Dec. 22, 2024, Ilver dropped a career-best eight points in a win over Detroit Mercy. Weeks later, he played a career-high 10 minutes against Minnesota and knocked down a pair of 3-point looks in a 21-point triumph. Ilver becomes the second former Badger to sign a professional contract to play overseas this offseason, joining forward Carter Gilmore. Several high-profile Badgers, including Nigel Hayes, have found success overseas. In Hayes' case, his EuroLeague Final Four MVP recently netted him a deal with the Phoenix Suns. Frank Kaminsky, another Badger legend, suited up in Serbia before making a return to the NBA. While Ilver may never attain an NBA contract, his upcoming experience overseas is another step in his basketball journey.
