Shane Warne built a career off bamboozling opposition batsmen and his son Jackson has now revealed the Australian cricket legend was also far from an easy read for restaurant staff and patrons. The king of spin tragically died of a heart attack aged 52 on March 4, 2022, while staying at a luxury villa in Koh Samui, Thailand. But when he was alive, he was known for his insane sporting ability, charisma, quick wit and his childlike tastebuds. Warne was regularly seen downing a pizza, spaghetti bolognese or bacon sandwiches and would avoid fruit and vegetables at all costs. His pre-game preferences of baked beans on toast, and midgame snacks often raised eyebrows. Warne's friends often joked that his diet resembled that of a child rather than an athletic specimen. And in a rare insight into the sporting icon, his son Jackson revealed his father would even order takeaway from a different restaurant to the one he was at. 'You know (Japanese restaurant) Nobu and Rockpool at Crown?' Jackson said on the Life of Brian Podcast. 'There have been multiple times where he would have an important meeting or catch up with people there for dinner. 'He would go to the restaurants – he knew he wasn't going to eat anything – he would be looking at the menu (and say), 'I don't eat steak, these fish and oysters, no thanks, not for me'. 'So 40 minutes later, there would be a pizza from Gradi, just around the corner. 'He would be eating a pizza from a different restaurant in one of the restaurants there.' It isn't the first time light has been shed on Warne's truly unique dining traditions. Aussie pace legend Brett Lee revealed on the Willow Talk Cricket Podcast in November that it was almost a tradition for Warnie to order pizza to be delivered to any fancy restaurant he was at. And it wouldn't be a supreme or even a meatlovers, just a simple cheese and nothing else. 'I remember going to that famous Japanese restaurant Nobu, and Warnie ordered a margherita pizza,' Lee said. 'Warnie only ever ate his baked beans, cheese on toast, he liked lasagna, spaghetti bolognese and margherita pizzas. 'We were going to one of the best restaurants in the world, and Warnie, just being Warnie, decided to order margherita pizza. 'I don't think he ever ate one vegetable in his life.' Warne must have been doing something right however. He is considered one of the greatest cricketers to ever play the game, claiming a whopping 708 Test wickets at 25.41 in 145 matches between 1992 and 2007.

Civil works are underway for a development of 19 high-end homes on a beloved Highton 'frog hollow'. Up Property is the developer behind the $10m ARC Highton project at 2 Morven Court, in the suburb's Shoubra estate. The vacant property less than 1km from Highton Village will be subdivided into 19 lots under the plans approved by Geelong's council in 2024. The initial works will connect the 9361sq m site to the neighbouring road network, allowing construction of the homes to proceed over two stages. ARC Highton will consist of 19 townhouses, each on a separate freehold title, it's on street address and without ongoing body corporate fees. ARC Highton development manager Ben Cribb said the project was designed to suite a range of buyers. 'ARC Highton is a great project that we are incredibly proud of,' Mr Cribb said. 'It's a very high-end offering with quality architecture and premium interiors in a prime location. 'This is not a typical townhouse development; these are architecturally designed homes built for both growing families and discerning downsizers. 'These townhouses have super-generous outdoor spaces that defy typical expectations. 'Far from the cramped yards often associated with urban developments, these homes feature large, extensively landscaped backyards,' Mr Cribb said. Lot sized within the first stage of the project will bet between 330sq m and 500sq m, providing backyard space of between 110sq m, and 230sq m. 'This emphasis on outdoor living spaces provides residents with a rare opportunity for gardening, entertaining, and relaxation, blending the best aspects of a traditional house with the convenience of a modern townhouse,' Mr Cribb said. The development will be released in two stages, with nine dwellings in the first stage. Construction of the homes is expected to start once civil works are scheduled to be completed in November. Geelong real estate agency Gartland will handle the campaign marketing the development, expected to launch in October. The project is designed to appeal to young families looking to upside and downsizers seeking a more manageable, yet luxurious home. ARC Highton will primarily two-storey, three and four-bedroom layouts, with a select number of single-level options available. Up Property has a pipeline of projects in Geelong worth more than $500m, including other residential developments in Belmont, Highton and Geelong West, to commercial and mixed use projects in the central business district. Initial plans for 33 dwellings at 2 Morven Court was rejected by Geelong's council, before residents successfully fought an amended 27-dwelling development for the site at Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal, after raising $9000 in an online crowd-funding campaign to cover legal costs. The property was sold as a development site for $3m in 2019.

The stunning residence comes with three car spots and has access to the Bondi Pacific's wellness facilities by the team from Bondi Beach Fit and Slow House. Hall & Campbell continues a strong legacy of luxury projects in Bondi over the past 15 years, such as Bondi Pacific and The Bondi. The biggest price paid in Bondi Beach is $32m, but that was for a consolidation of three penthouses in the Bondi Pacific next door. More relevant is the AYA penthouse in Hall St, which sold for circa $22m last September ... unlike Hall & Campbell, it's not even on the beachfront and you can't even see the beach.
