Gurugram: DTCP carries out demolition drive around Sultanpur park
GURUGRAM
: The enforcement team of the department of town and country planning (DTCP) has carried out a demolition drive around Sultanpur park, a Ramsar site. The action led to clearing of three
unauthorised colonies
spread across approximately 32 acres of prime land in Farrukhnagar area.
DTCP officials said the colonies were being developed without necessary approvals in controlled areas, violating the norms set under the Punjab Scheduled Roads and Controlled Areas Restriction of Unregulated Development Act, 1963.
During the operation, two under-construction structures, 18 damp proof courses (DPCs), three farmhouse boundary walls, one industrial unit and five plot boundary walls were demolished. The entire internal road network laid out to support these illegal settlements was also dismantled.
The operation was led by town planner Amit, assistant town planner Anish and junior engineers Naveen, Harshit and Amit. The officials said strict action would continue against illegal builders and property owners "attempting to bypass the legal framework". The demolition was conducted with police support to maintain law and order.
The authorities have urged citizens to verify approvals and licences before investing in any property to avoid legal complications. Monitoring of vulnerable areas around Sultanpur and other parts of the city is expected in the coming weeks.
Apart from Sultanpur, demolition actions were also taken in other villages, including Farukhnagar, Saidpur Mohammadpur, Khurampur, Karola, Birhera and Alimuddinpur. In total, unauthorised structures spread over nearly 47 acres were removed across different locations during the drives conducted on April 24 and April 26.
"The demolition drives send a clear message that unauthorised colonies and illegal constructions will not be tolerated. Protecting the master plans and ensuring planned development is our priority," an enforcement team official said.
The drive was part of an ongoing effort to curb illegal colonization activities, particularly around the rapidly developing regions of the city and its outskirts.

Three friends killed in Nawada road accident
Patna: Three friends lost their lives when their motorcycle was hit by a speeding truck near Pakribarawan Mor under the same police station in Nawada district on Thursday. The incident took place around midnight when the three were returning home from a birthday party at Bishanpur village. The victims were identified as Raju Kumar (20) and Amit Kumar (19), natives of Shanti Nagar in Pakribarawan, and Vikas Kumar (19) of Shumbhaka village in Sheikhpura district. While Raju and Amit died on the spot, Vikas, who was critically injured, succumbed to his injuries at the Sadar Hospital, Nawada. "Upon receiving information about the accident, police immediately reached the spot. The victims were identified around midnight, after which their families were informed. The bodies were sent to the Sadar Hospital, Nawada, for an autopsy, and later they were handed over to their respective families," said SHO of Pakribarawan police station, Sneha Kumari. The SHO further said Raju was the eldest son of one Dasrath Mistri, while Amit was the only son in the family. Vikas was also the eldest among his siblings. The incident has left all the three families devastated. "The driver of the sand-laden truck fled after the accident. Burglar targets Gurgaon flat, steals Rs 12L jewellery, caught on camera
Gurgaon: A burglar broke into a ground-floor flat at a residential society in Sector 83 and stole Rs 12 lakh work jewellery on Sunday night. The incident, which took place 8:58pm, was captured on a CCTV camera. Footage showed a man entering the flat, Vatika G-21, in Tower C3 of the society. There was no one in the house at the time. The theft came to light the next day, around 12.30pm, when the family's domestic help found a broken piece of a gold earring inside the house and alerted the flat's owner. On checking the locker in the almirah, the owner found that all the gold jewellery was missing. "We went out for dinner on Sunday evening. The thief entered the flat through the kitchen balcony and took the gold jewellery. Nothing seemed out of place initially, and it was only when our help alerted my wife that we checked the almirah and discovered the theft," said the flat's owner, adding that they filed a police complaint and submitted the CCTV footage. "A team of the crime branch is also investigating the matter, and efforts are being made to trace the accused," a police spokesperson said. The society's RWA suspects that the intruder entered the society from a vulnerable point near Tower B1 and EWS blocks, where only temporary fencing is in place instead of a boundary wall. In April this year, TOI reported that the DTCP directed the developer to restore the incomplete boundary wall, but no action was taken. Last year in Dec, DTCP investigated the matter on complaints by residents and found that the developer illegally created a passage by breaching the boundary wall and removing designated parking bays to carve out an unauthorised road from the 24m internal road. Subsequently, a show-cause notice was issued in Jan, and restoration orders were issued in Feb and April. However, the boundary wall was not rebuilt. RWA members met police officials and demanded a separate FIR be filed against the developer.

Day after killing 18-yr-old brother, man arrested
Lucknow: A day after he murdered his 18-year-old younger brother during a heated altercation at their home in Jankipuram, a 35-year-old man was arrested on Tuesday. The accused, Amit Mishra alias Bala, reportedly told investigators he lost his temper after his brother, Ravi Mishra alias Arjun Mishra, spoke to him in abusive language. The murder took place at 7:30am on Monday inside their residence in Sector-6 of Jankipuram Extension. According to police, Amit allegedly slammed Ravi multiple times on the floor and then strangled him to death with a dupatta (scarf). Police were alerted on Dial 112 and on reaching the scene, found Ravi's body in a pool of blood. A forensic team was called in to gather evidence and the body was sent for postmortem following completion of legal formalities. Inspector Vinod Kumar Tiwari of Jankipuram police station said both brothers were drunkl at the time of fight. "The altercation escalated when Ravi hurled expletives at Amit. In a fit of rage, Amit killed him," he said. Amit was taken into custody on Tuesday, and a case of murder was registered against him. Besides Amit, Ravi is survived by his parents Ram Lakhan and Nirmala Mishra, brother Rahul (30) and sister Neha Tiwari (25). Neha told police that Amit worked at a private readymade garment store in Madiaon, while Rahul is employed at a jewellery shop in Dandaiya Bazaar and lives separately. Neighbours and relatives described Ravi as a troubled youth with a history of substance abuse. He was often involved in arguments and had a reputation for aggressive behaviour within family and the neighbourhood. A loud altercation reportedly took place on Sunday night too, hours before the murder. Police said further investigation was underway to establish sequence of events and determine if there were other underlying factors behind the murder.
