How Soon Could Ukraine's Forces ‘Start to Buckle' Without U.S. Weapons?
Without billions of dollars in American-made weapons, it may be only a matter of time before Ukraine's forces falter against Russia.
How much time, however, depends on how quickly Europe and Ukraine can make up for the artillery, missiles, air-defense systems and other arms that Trump administration officials said on Monday were being put on hold.
The United States had committed to delivering as much as $11 billion in weapons and equipment to Ukraine this year. Some of it was from Pentagon stockpiles, while some was ordered through new defense contracts, according to a new analysis by the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington. A former senior U.S. defense official on Tuesday said the actual figure was likely closer to $9 billion.
Despite Europe's pledges of unwavering support for Ukraine, which have only intensified since the Trump administration began pulling back, it would be nearly impossible for it to fill the weapons gap quickly. European defense industries have ramped up, but only in fits and starts. And individual countries need to maintain their own weapons stockpiles.

Christiane Amanpour Now Treats Travel To U.S. 'As If I Was Going To North Korea'
British journalist Christiane Amanpour said she treats travel to the U.S. under President Donald Trump 'as if I was going to North Korea.' The longtime CNN correspondent talked about her experience flying to the U.S. on her podcast, 'The Ex Files.' 'I must say I was afraid,' Amanpour told her co-host and ex-husband, Jamie Rubin, on Wednesday's episode. Amanpour was traveling to the U.S. last week to give a speech at Harvard University, which has come under increased attacks by Trump, including revoking the university's ability to enroll international students. Trump has also ramped up his attacks on immigrants, using agents with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement to snatch people off the streets and imprison them without due process. And on Thursday, Trump announced that citizens of 12 countries would be banned from visiting the U.S. and seven others that would face restrictions. 'I'm a foreigner,' Amanpour said. 'I don't have a green card. I'm not an American citizen. I'm fairly prominent, and I literally prepared to go to America as if I was going to North Korea. I took a burner phone, Jamie. Imagine that. I didn't take a single … not my mobile phone, not my iPad, nothing, and I had nothing on the burner phone except a few numbers.' Amanpour said she also spoke to CNN security about what precautions to take. 'I've heard that many, including British citizens, have been stopped at the border and been questioned for hours and hours and hours,' she said. Thankfully, Amanpour said she went through airport security without any issues. 'I was welcomed,' she said. 'The immigration officer at Boston, where I came in, could not have been nicer. Huge sigh of relief I breathed.'

Iran supreme leader responds to Trump: ‘We will never surrender'
Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei early Wednesday declared his nation 'will never surrender' to threats from Israel's allies, including President Trump, amid the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. 'It isn't wise to tell the Iranian nation to surrender,' Khamenei said in a post on social platform X. 'What should the Iranian nation surrender to? We will never surrender in response to the attacks of anyone.' 'This is the logic of the Iranian nation. This is the spirit of the Iranian nation,' he added. The response comes a day after Trump called on Iran to agree to an 'unconditional surrender,' signaling earlier this week that merely a ceasefire agreement wasn't enough. The president has also doubled down on his request for a deal with Tehran to dismantle its nuclear program. While Trump has left open the possibility of U.S. troops getting involved in the conflict, he has not, thus far, supported plans to target Khamenei. 'We know exactly where the so-called 'Supreme Leader' is hiding. He is an easy target, but is safe there,' Trump wrote Tuesday. 'We are not going to take him out (kill!), at least not for now.' 'But we don't want missiles shot at civilians, or American soldiers,' he added, alluding to Iran's suggestion that it could target U.S. bases should the Trump administration choose to step in. 'Our patience is wearing thin. Thank you for your attention to this matter!' Iran has rejected calls to surrender, after launching a counterattack following Israel's initial strike, and mounted plans to continue the development of nuclear weapons while warning against U.S. interference. 'The US entering in this matter [war] is 100% to its own detriment,' Khamenei added Wednesday in a separate X post. 'The damage it will suffer will be far greater than any harm that Iran may encounter.' 'The US President threatens us. With his absurd rhetoric, he demands that the Iranian people surrender to him,' he added in another post. 'They should make threats against those who are afraid of being threatened. The Iranian nation isn't frightened by such threats.' The Iranian death toll is above 500 and injuries have soared in the thousands according to the Washington based group Human Rights Activist. Trump and Israeli forces have encouraged all who are able to evacuate the Iranian capital of Tehran, predicting additional air raids and a high increase in casualties. 'Iran should have signed the 'deal' I told them to sign. What a shame, and waste of human life,' Trump wrote earlier this week on Truth Social. 'Simply stated, IRAN CAN NOT HAVE A NUCLEAR WEAPON.' The president added, 'I said it over and over again! Everyone should immediately evacuate Tehran!'
