Coolie Box Office Day 1: Rajinikanth Shatters All Records, Film Earns Rs 150 Crore On Opening
Coolie Box Office Collection Day 1: Rajinikanth's Coolie earns Rs 150 crore worldwide on Day 1, setting a new record for Tamil cinema. Coolie Box Office Collection Day 1: Rajinikanth's Coolie has delivered nothing short of a historic opening at the box office. Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, the film was already creating waves with staggering advance bookings, and early estimates now confirm it has grossed around Rs 150 crore worldwide on its very first day. This makes Coolie the first Tamil film ever to achieve such a massive debut. While, day one India net collections for Coolie stand at nearly Rs 65 crore across languages, trade reports suggest Coolie collected Rs 28–30 crore from Tamil Nadu, Rs 16–18 crore from Andhra Pradesh/Telangana, Rs 14–15 crore from Karnataka, Rs 10 crore from Kerala, and a jaw-dropping Rs 75 crore from overseas markets. With these numbers, the film has surpassed Leo's record, which grossed Rs 76 crore on opening day in India, making Coolie the biggest Tamil opener yet. The timing of the release, just ahead of the Independence Day weekend, is expected to fuel even bigger box office numbers in the coming days. A Historic Box Office Opening For Rajinikanth The phenomenal Day 1 response comes despite mixed reviews from critics, proving that Coolie is critic-proof. With fans thronging theatres in India and abroad, the film has turned into a celebratory event. Industry experts believe the movie's multi-starrer format has played a crucial role. Alongside Rajinikanth, Coolie features powerhouse names like Nagarjuna, Aamir Khan, Upendra, Sathyaraj, and Soubin Shahir. Trade analyst Ramesh Bala highlighted the film's nationwide appeal, saying, 'Rajinikanth's pan-India reach, coupled with Aamir Khan's strong presence in the Hindi market, has made this a true event film. With five stars pulling their own audiences, the movie was destined for massive numbers." Adding to the frenzy, Coolie clashed with Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR's War 2, but still managed to cross Rs 100 crore in pre-sales alone, selling over 12 lakh tickets on its first day. This underlines Rajinikanth's unparalleled dominance at the box office. Coolie Marks 50 Years Of Rajinikanth Coolie also arrives at a significant milestone in Rajinikanth's career, celebrating 50 years of his unmatched stardom. Lokesh Kanagaraj has crafted a film that blends high-octane action with nostalgia, giving fans plenty of reasons to cheer. The climax, which includes Aamir Khan's cameo and several unexpected twists, has become a major talking point. News18 Showsha's review praised the spectacle, stating, 'The climax is packed not just with action, but the famous cameo appearance by Aamir Khan. The plot twists don't end there. Wait till you watch the tail-end scene to be taken back in time. Overall, Lokesh Kanagaraj has managed to bring a banger to the theatres that need to be enjoyed on the big screen with a hall filled with Rajini fans." With Independence Day festivities and the long weekend ahead, trade experts predict Coolie will continue its record-breaking spree, cementing itself as one of the biggest blockbusters in Tamil cinema history. Religion is a personal topic for Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan, who believes that all faiths lead to one god. On NDTV's Independence Day special Jai Jawan, the actor-producer was asked whether he was religious or spiritual. In his response, Aamir Khan said, "I am (religious). Religion is such a personal topic with each one of us. It's something which is very close to my heart and I respect all religions. We may have different paths but we are finally headed to the same source. "I don't know how spiritual I am. I suppose I'd like to believe I am (spiritual). The 60-year-old actor, who was last seen in Sitaare Zameen Par, said he recently started meditating. "I started doing meditation a few months ago... One of the forms of meditation is also when you are fully focused on something. Squash is also very meditative. All that chasing the ball... " Aapke dimaag mein sab dhul jaata hai (Your mind becomes all clear)" said Aamir Khan, adding he practises Daaji Meditation, spiritual practice guided by Daaji (Kamlesh Patel), who is the current spiritual guide of the Heartfulness tradition.
