A Japanese manga artist's warning about a possible disaster in July 2025 has led to a wave of travel cancellations to Japan. Ryo Tatsuki , often called Japan's ' New Baba Vanga ,' has made headlines for her earlier predictions, including the 2011 Tohoku earthquake . Her latest prophecy has raised concerns among travelers and affected bookings, especially from East Asia.Ryo Tatsuki is a manga artist from Japan who first published The Future I Saw in 1999. The book contains visions she claims to have experienced. While it did not receive much attention initially, she gained a following after some predictions reportedly came true. These include the 1995 Kobe earthquake, the death of singer Freddie Mercury, and the March 2011 Tohoku earthquake and tsunami that caused over 18,000 deaths and triggered the Fukushima nuclear crisis. In the 2021 updated version of her book, Tatsuki predicted a catastrophic event in July 2025. CNN and other outlets reported that she described an undersea rupture between Japan and the Philippines. It could trigger tsunamis three times larger than those seen in 2011. She also wrote about the sea 'boiling,' which has been interpreted by some as a sign of a volcanic eruption or seismic activity. The possible impact zone includes Japan, Taiwan, Indonesia, and the Northern Mariana Islands—an area known for geological activity.Tour agencies are seeing a decline in bookings. Hong Kong-based WWPKG reported a 50 percent drop in travel to Japan during the Easter holiday. CN Yuen, managing director of WWPKG, told CNN, 'People have chosen alternative destinations or delayed their travel plans due to safety concerns.'The Chinese embassy in Tokyo issued an advisory in April 2025, urging its nationals to stay alert for natural disasters. According to the South China Morning Post, the warning followed a series of earthquakes and volcanic activity around Japan. The statement asked people to 'take extra precautions against natural disasters.'Japan's response has been more cautious. The Japan Meteorological Agency has not issued any alerts related to July 2025. Officials said their monitoring systems remain fully active and among the most advanced in the world.Tatsuki's prediction has sparked global discussions online. The hashtag #July2025Prediction is trending. While some users are concerned, others believe the prophecy is a coincidence. Online forums focused on earthquake readiness have seen increased activity, with people discussing safety plans and emergency steps.
