Nashik: The initial phase of the ambitious, centrally-funded Ram Kal Path project is set to commence with the conservation and renovation of ancient temples and structures.
On Thursday, the standing committee of the Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) approved the civic administration's proposal to award the work order to a Mumbai-based firm.
This firm will undertake the renovation and conservation of ancient temples near Ramkund and Kalaram Temple, as well as the façades of structures, at a cost of Rs22.55 crore.
The total cost of the project is estimated at Rs146 crore. Central govt has approved Rs100 crore of this, with the balance to be sourced from state govt's tourism department and the NMC. Till date, the Centre has disbursed Rs65 crore to the civic body, with the remaining Rs35 crore are to be released based on the project's progress.
The Centre has set a deadline of March 2026 to complete the Ram Kal Path project. The project involves the development of the entire zone from the Ramkund area in Godavari to Kalaram Temple and Seetagumpha in the old Panchavati area.

Mark Zuckerberg-led Meta bets big on Scale AI: Who is Alexander Wang, the 28-year-old MIT dropout behind the startup?

Meta Platforms has invested in US-based firm Scale AI in a deal that values the data-labelling startup at $29 billion. After the deal, Jason Droege will serve as the interim CEO of the AI firm. Meta's stake in the startup will give its 28-year-old CEO, Alexandr Wang, an opportunity to play a prominent role in the tech giant's artificial intelligence strategy. The Facebook owner will reportedly take a 49 per cent stake for $14.3 billion. "We will deepen the work we do together producing data for AI models and Alexandr Wang will join Meta to work on our superintelligence efforts," Meta said in a statement reported by Reuters. The main driver behind Meta's huge investment in Scale AI was to secure Wang to lead its new superintelligence unit, according to information given to Reuters. Wang was born in Los Alamos, New Mexico. His parents were Chinese immigrants who worked as physicists. The CEO dropped out of the prestigious MIT to co-found Scale. He was quickly recognised as one of Silicon Valley's most promising entrepreneurs, who successfully raised capital from blue-chip venture capital firms and achieved billionaire status in his 20s, Reuters said. Meta, who was once a leader in open-source AI models, has been postponing the launches of new open-source AI models due to staff departures. These AI models are important to rival competitors like Google, OpenAI, and China's DeepSeek, reported Reuters. By luring Wang into joining the tech giant, who does not come from a research background, yet built a major AI business, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg is betting that Meta's AI efforts can be turned around by an adept business leader more in the mold of Altman than the research scientists at the helm of most competing labs, reported Reuters. Meta doesn't plan to take a board seat in Scale, as people with information told Reuters. A few employees from Scale, among a team of 1,500 people, will move to Meta with Wang as he will continue to serve on the Scale's board. However, it's still unclear if this deal will come under any regulatory scrutiny. Meta has earlier been sued by the US Federal Trade Commission, which alleged that it illegally acquired Instagram and WhatsApp to reduce competition. The startup was founded in 2016 as a platform that provides vast amounts of accurately labelled data, which is crucial for training sophisticated tools like OpenAI's ChatGPT. To do so, Scale set up subsidiary platforms such as Remotasks and Outlier to recruit and manage gig workers who manually label the data, according to Reuters. Before Meta bought a stake, it was valued at nearly $14 billion in a May 2024 funding round that included Nvidia, Amazon and Meta among its backers.

Sumadhura acquires land parcel in East Bengaluru, eyes ₹500 crore revenue

Bengaluru-based real estate developer Sumadhura Group has acquired a 5-acre land parcel on Soukya Road in East Bengaluru. The upcoming residential project on the site is expected to generate revenues of around ₹500 crore, the company said in a statement. 'This acquisition is a strategic move that reflects our understanding of the evolving real estate landscape in East Bengaluru,' said Madhusudhan G, chairman and managing director of Sumadhura Group. 'Soukya Road is fast becoming a preferred residential location, offering a rare mix of peaceful living, excellent infrastructure, and strong investment potential. Projects in such emerging corridors will not only deliver value to customers but also support long-term appreciation.' The land deal highlights Sumadhura's focus on expanding its footprint in key high-growth areas. With multiple projects already delivered across Bengaluru and Hyderabad, the group is looking to further scale its presence across the micro-markets. Soukya Road, located near Whitefield, is a rapidly emerging real estate destination. The locality offers convenient access to the Purple Line metro at Kadugodi and ITPL, as well as important arterial roads like NH-75 and SH-35. Sumadhura has delivered more than 50 projects in its area of operation, spanning over 11 million square feet. Currently, it is in the planning and construction stages of up to 40 million square feet. Also Read: Sumadhura Group forays into managed office spaces, to lease 1 mn sq ft of space in next 3 years In April, the Group said that it acquired 40 acres in Bengaluru for approximately ₹800 crore, setting the stage for a revenue potential of up to ₹6000 crore residential project pipeline to cater to the demand for housing units in Bengaluru. The four land parcels acquired recently are a combination of both solely owned and joint-development projects located in Bengaluru's high-growth corridors, including emerging areas in East and South-West Bengaluru, the company said. In May, the company entered the managed office space (MOS) segment with the launch of Workship. The company aims to lease over 1 million square feet of flexible office space, offering more than 10,000 seats over the next three years. Workship is located within Sumadhura's commercial property, Capitol Towers, in Whitefield, Bengaluru. Spanning 1.22 lakh square feet, it currently offers over 3,000 seats.

India's retail inflation may descend towards 2% or below by July: SBI Research

New Delhi [India], June 13 (ANI): Consume price inflation in India which eased to an over six-year low in May (at 2.82 per cent) is seen declining further towards 2 per cent, perhaps even lower, by July, according to a report SBI Research. Consumer Price Index-based retail inflation moderated to 2.82 per cent in May, much below the consensus estimates to hit a 75-month low, driven chiefly due to softening food items, particularly vegetables and pulses which declined by 13.7 per cent and 8.2 per cent respectively. 'This, together with easing spices/meat and fish prices was however somewhat offset by elevated levels of fruits, Personal care and effects,' the report said. 'The positive development on headline front gets a tad masked though with the somewhat sticky nature of core inflation which edged up to 4.2 per cent, second-highest in last 19 months.' SBI Research expects CPI Inflation average at 3.3-3.5 per cent in 2025-26, in turn allowing the central bank RBI some elbow room to navigate the 'evolving landscape with forbearance.' Deciphering the state-wise inflation trends, the number of states/UTs inflation above 4 per cent has declined to 6 in May 2025, as against 32 States/UTs that had inflation above 4 per cent as in October 2024. During October 2024 to May 2025, overall All India inflation declined by 3.38 per cent, expect Goa, where inflation increased by 2.09 per cent. 'We expect CPI inflation to remain below 4 per cent till Q3 FY26 while it may show some increase in the last quarter of the current fiscal. The benign inflationary expectations justify RBI's quest to support the momentum in capital formation for more durable growth,' SBI Research said. The inflation rate is within the Reserve Bank of India's (RBI) manageable range of 2-6 per cent. Retail inflation last breached the Reserve Bank of India's 6 per cent upper tolerance level in October 2024. Since then, it has been in the 2-6 per cent range, which the RBI considers manageable. Food prices were a concern for Indian policymakers, who wished to sustain retail inflation around 4 per cent. Inflation has been a concern for many countries, including advanced economies, but India has largely managed to steer its inflation trajectory well. The RBI held its benchmark repo rate steady at 6.5 per cent for the eleventh consecutive time, before cutting it first time in about five years in February 2025. Analysts expect inflation to remain under control, allowing the RBI to focus on supporting economic growth. The recent 50 basis points repo cut was quite an indication. The inflation outlook for the year 2025-26 has been revised downwards from RBI's earlier forecast of 4 per cent to 3.7 per cent. SBI Research expects a pause in rate action here onwards till the December 2025 policy though a lot will depend upon incoming data. (ANI)
