Qatar attends 10th Int'l Fatwa Conference in Cairo
QNA Cairo Qatar participated in the 10th International Fatwa Conference, which kicked off in Cairo, Egypt, on Tuesday and will run for two days under the title 'The Making of the Competent Mufti in the Age of Artificial Intelligence'. Assistant Undersecretary for Islamic Affairs at the Ministry HE Khalid bin Shaheen Al Ghanim led Qatar's delegation to the conference. The delegation also included Director of the Department of Da'wah and Religious Guidance Jassim Abdullah Al Ali and Head of the Islamic network division at the Department of Da'wah and Religious Guidance Abdul Salam Mohamed Al Rajhi. Hosted by Egypt's Dar Al Ifta and the General Secretariat for Fatwa Authorities Worldwide, the conference will address the role of Fatwa in the context of the technological revolution. It will bring together religious and scholarly institutions from around the world to exchange expertise and develop scientific frameworks and standards for qualifying Muftis. The aim is to equip them with both a deep understanding of Islamic law and the ability to navigate the digital reality, including the challenges and opportunities presented by artificial intelligence technologies. The conference will address five main themes in this regard: 'forming the modern, rational Mufti,' 'Fatwa in the age of AI,' 'rational Mufti facing the challenges of AI,' 'AI and the development of institutional Fatwa work,' and 'experiences of Fatwa institutions in creating the rational Mufti in the Age of AI.' With the participation of more than 70 countries, the conference will also feature the launch of several initiatives, research projects, and training programmes aimed at enhancing the capabilities of Muftis and integrating Islamic law with modern technologies.

Awaza Minister of State for International Cooperation HE Maryam bint Ali bin Nasser Al Misnad has stressed that women in all conflict zones deserve protection, safety, and a peaceful life. This came as the Minister of State for International Cooperation participated in the Women Leaders Forum, held on the sidelines of the United Nations Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries, in the city of Awaza, Turkmenistan, with the presence of Vice President of the Charitable Foundation for Assistance to Children in Need of Care Oguljahan Atabayeva. In her speech at the forum, Al Misnad emphasized that speaking about justice for women anywhere is incomplete without speaking about justice for the women of Gaza. Al Misnad stressed that the women of Gaza are deprived of the most basic human needs, including education, safety, sanitation, and dignity, they face the threat of famine, and their children go to sleep hungry, burdened by trauma, with their childhoods stolen from them. She pointed out that the State of Qatar fully understands that empowering women is not merely a matter of justice and fairness, but a fundamental pillar of resilient, inclusive, and sustainable development. She affirmed that women do not wait for an invitation to participate; rather, they are already playing leadership roles across various sectors including government, diplomacy, education, business, and innovation. Al Misnad explained that Qatar's national strategy was designed to enable women to realize their full potential through progressive policies that ensure protection for mothers, equal pay, pathways to leadership, and work environments that respect and support women. She explained in this context that one of the most inspiring examples of this is the vision of Chairperson of the Education Above All Foundation HH Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, whose pioneering work through the foundation has enabled millions of children deprived of education, especially in the least developed countries, to access their right to education, while preserving their dignity and opening new horizons for their future, noting that Her Highness's leadership embodies a profound truth: When women participate in development, entire societies rise. She underscored that nearly half of the population in landlocked developing countries are women, yet for a long time, they have been asked to achieve more with fewer resources. The time has come to change that, she added, stressing that if they are serious about achieving the goals of the Programme of Action for Landlocked Developing Countries, they must invest in women and support their passion, because the future we build with them will be stronger and more prosperous.
