If you want to see Season 2 of House of David this fall, you'll have to cough up an additional nine bucks.

The subscription-within-a-subscription promises 'over 1,000 hours of highly curated movies and TV series that reflect the company's mission: to entertain the world with courageous stories, inspiring hope and restoring faith in things worth believing in' — but if you don't want all of that, don't worry: exclusivity will eventually lapse, and House of David Season 2 will be available to all Prime Video subscribers at a later date.
House of David 'tells the story of the ascent of the biblical figure, David (played by Michael Iskander), who eventually becomes the most renowned and celebrated king of Israel,' according the official logline. 'The series follows the once-mighty King Saul as he falls victim to his own pride. At the direction of God, the prophet Samuel anoints an unlikely, outcast teenager as the new king. As Saul loses his power over his kingdom, David finds himself on a journey to discover and fulfill his destiny, navigating love, loss, and violence in the court of the very man he's destined to replace. As one leader falls, another must rise.'
Season 2, meanwhile, 'will follow the aftermath of the battle between David and Goliath and David's rise to the throne. As he navigates palace politics, his family's jealousy, and a growing romance, David steps deeper into his destiny and learns what it means to become a great leader.'
House of David was renewed for a second season on March 18, two weeks out from the biblical epic's Season 1 finale, which dropped on Thursday, April 3. The Feb. 27 premiere had reportedly garnered 22 million viewers in its first 17 days of release (though Amazon has not defined how it measures a 'viewer').
'Jon Erwin and Jon Gunn's compelling creative vision has solidified our belief in the series and we are excited to deliver more of the story to our customers,' Amazon MGM Studios head of television Vernon Sanders said in a statement at the time. 'We look forward to a continued journey with Wonder Project as we further expand our slate to encompass faith-based series.'
Added Erwin and Gunn: 'We are humbled by the extraordinary reaction this show has earned from the faith audience worldwide. Thanks to them and our partners at Prime Video and Amazon MGM Studios, Wonder Project will bring more of the Bible and this epic saga to a global audience. Congratulations to our incredible cast and crew.'

Beyoncé's Shirt Sparks Backlash—Here's The Lesson For Marketers

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA - FEBRUARY 02: Beyoncé accepts the Best Country Album award for "COWBOY ... More CARTER" onstage during the 67th Annual GRAMMY Awards at Arena on February 02, 2025 in Los Angeles, California. (Photo byfor The Recording Academy) On Juneteenth, Beyoncé performed during night one of her stint in Paris for her Cowboy Carter tour. Sometime during the show, she wore a shirt that said 'Buffalo Soldiers' with an image that depicted the all Black regiment in the U.S. military in the time period after the Civil War. One her website, Beyoncé shows images of the shirt, along with an excerpt (that looks to be the back of the shirt) from the book The Buffalo Soldiers: A Narrative of the Black Cavalry in the West that gives a brief overview of who the Buffalo Soldiers were, and what this often forgotten group achieved. This is where much of the controversy comes in. UNSPECIFIED - :: Segregated company of United States soldiers (Buffalo Soldiers) in 1898 during the ... More Spanish-American war. (Photo by Universal) Toward the end of the excerpts is a paragraph explaining who the Buffalo Soldiers fought against: 'The antagonists were the enemies of peace, order and settlement: warring Indians, bandits, cattle thieves, murderous gunmen, bootleggers, tresspassers, and Mexican revolutionaries.' The controversy about Beyoncé's Buffalo Soldier Shirt Many critics of the shirt feel like Beyoncé is celebrating genocide of American Indians. They took particular issue that groups like American Indians and Mexican revolutionaries were described as antagonists and enemies of peace. I found several Reditt threads on this topic, each with hundreds of comments. One person wrote, 'As an Indigenous person, it's disheartening to see Beyoncé wearing a Buffalo Soldier shirt. These soldiers played a direct role in the forced removal, violence, and suppression of Native peoples. I respect her impact, but this choice hurts a lot." Another person wrote, 'Agents of enforced genocide, but make it inclusive.' Another commentor on TikTok shared, 'It's understandable why this image is triggering for some, given the Buffalo Soldiers' complex history with Native American communities. A reminder that progress for one group sometimes came at a cost to another.' Even though a number of people are outraged about what they feel Beyoncé is endorsing, others are defending it. Their point of view is that the history of the Buffalo Soldiers is nuanced and complex, and that Beyoncé is shedding light on the country's troubled and multi-layered past. One person commented on TikTok, "It's almost like she said, "whole lotta red in that white and blue,' referring to the lyrics of her hit song YaYa, which is featured on her Cowboy Carter album and current tour. Another person shared their thoughts on a different Reddit thread, 'My take is probably a basic take, but is that the history of this country is ugly no matter how we show it. We get mad when we don't show the ugliness of this country, but we get mad when we do show the ugliness of this country in a way that not spoon fed, or presented to us in a conventional way. If nuance can exist in all matter of formats then it should exist when it comes to this.' Others took the opportunity to invite others to get more educated about the history of the Buffalo Soldiers, including directing people to visit the Buffalo Soldier National Museum in Houston. Key takeaway for marketers One of the things Beyoncé is known for are the details, intentionality, and cultural intelligence associated with many of the decisions she makes with regard to her music, shows, and art. Even though many people who are troubled by her wearing the shirt, they likely won't get the context they desire from her explaining why she did it. Even though there are many lessons marketers can learn from Beyoncé that has made her the superstar, artist, and billionaire she is today, my recommendation is to not follow Beyoncé's lead with this shirt. That's especially important, because most brands can't get away with the things Beyoncé does. First of all, the explanation on the back of the shirt caused harm to people. The lack of context with the point she was making left too many people to determine meaning on their own. And their meaning the meaning they derived came from harmful narratives. Anytime you are communicating about something that has the potential to cause harm, it is important to provide sufficient context so people on the receiving end of your message clearly understand your meaning and intent. The second takeaway from marketers is that cultural intelligence is a must. While I don't personally believe Beyoncé wore the Buffalo Soldiers shirt without an understanding of the complex history – with the corresponding text, many people feel her wearing the shirt was a culturally inappropriate thing to do. Cultural intelligence is a requirement for marketers. Consumers are growing less tolerant of brands apologizing for making culturally inappropriate mistakes and chalking it up to ignorance about the negative impact it has on people. Incorporating culturally relevant messages and imagery into your marketing is a smart idea. However, doing so without cultural intelligence and context can cause more harm than good. An additional observation for marketers is to acknowledge is that consumer acceptance of language and narratives changes and evolves over time. The book that the controversial excerpt on Beyoncé's shirt came from, was first published in the 1960's. How we think about and talk about historical events, and people from marginalized communities today is not the same as it was during that time period. Marketers have a duty to stay up to date on those changes as part of building cultural competence. One last practice I recommend you consider in relation to all of this is taking the time to anticipate what types of objections and negative responses might come from something you are producing. One of the commenters on the sea of social media posts on this topic asked where Beyoncé's PR team was to advise her that wearing the shirt was a bad idea. Even when you are operating with context, communicating with the people you serve, and engaging in cultural intelligence, it is still important to ask important questions about (or even do testing where possible) to gauge in advance how different people from various identities will respond to work you produce. Doing this will give you the insights you need to make any changes you need beforehand, and minimize the likelihood of you being surprised by how people respond to your marketing.

7 best Scarlett Johansson movies to stream right now

When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. Scarlett Johansson has been appearing in movies since she was 10 years old, and it sometimes seems like she has never not been a star. She's the rare performer who made a smooth, quick transition from child actor to adult actor, and she's remained prolific and acclaimed for the past 30-plus years. Those three decades have included two Oscar nominations (for 'Marriage Story' and 'Jojo Rabbit'), performances across multiple genres, and an ongoing presence as superhero Natasha Romanoff (aka Black Widow) in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In just a few months in 2025, she's appeared in Wes Anderson's typically offbeat 'The Phoenician Scheme,' hosted 'Saturday Night Live' (where she got to work with her husband, Colin Jost) and prepared to carry yet another blockbuster franchise as the star of 'Jurassic World Rebirth,' opening in theaters July 2. Here are my picks for the best of Johansson's many excellent film performances. After several years as a child actor, Johansson had her breakthrough role in this satisfyingly cynical adaptation of the graphic novel by Daniel Clowes. Thora Birch stars as acerbic teenager Enid, with Johansson as her more sensible best friend Rebecca. Although they begin the movie as partners in snark, hurling insults at classmates during their high school graduation, their paths diverge as Rebecca gets a job and sets out on a path to mainstream adulthood. While Enid strikes up a disingenuous friendship with an oddball older record collector named Seymour (Steve Buscemi) and continues to reject societal expectations, Rebecca sees a life beyond Enid's empty nihilism. Johansson's deadpan delivery gives Rebecca the right sense of ironic detachment, while also offering glimpses into the maturity that begins to set her apart from the entitled, condescending Enid. Watch on Prime Video Johansson received her first Golden Globe nomination for her adult debut, playing the disaffected wife of a rock photographer spending an aimless week in Tokyo. Johansson's Charlotte has a chance meeting with movie star Bob Harris (Bill Murray), a fellow American staying in her hotel, who's in town to shoot a commercial for a Japanese whisky company. The two of them form an unlikely bond as they wander the city, feeling disconnected from their surroundings and questioning their life choices. Johansson and Murray have sweet, understated chemistry that is almost entirely platonic, and writer-director Sofia Coppola captures the sense of isolation that can come from an unfamiliar environment. Like the movie, Johansson's performance is a mix of bitter melancholy and wry humor, hinting at deeper longings often left unsaid. Rent/buy at Apple or Amazon The third of Johansson's three collaborations with writer-director Woody Allen is the strongest, both as a film and as a showcase for her talents. Johansson and Rebecca Hall star as best friends spending a summer in Barcelona. Hall's Vicky is a pragmatic grad student set to marry a dull businessman (Chris Messina), while Johansson's Cristina is a more free-spirited seeker who fancies herself some kind of artist. They're both drawn to passionate Spanish painter Juan Antonio (Javier Bardem), although it's Cristina who ends up in a relationship with him — as well as with his volatile ex-wife Maria Elena (Penelope Cruz). 'Vicky Cristina Barcelona' is one of Allen's most sensual films, in both its intimate relationships and its depiction of Spain, and Johansson fits in perfectly as a woman who never quite knows what she wants, but isn't afraid of going after it anyway. Watch on Peacock Director Jonathan Glazer pares down the source novel for this eerie sci-fi movie to its bare minimum, and Johansson does the same in her performance, playing an alien who assumes human form to seduce and consume unsuspecting men. At least that's what appears to be going on, although Glazer's minimalist approach invites the audience to fill in numerous narrative gaps. The unanswered questions only make 'Under the Skin' more unsettling, as Johansson's unnamed character travels across Scotland, chatting up men and bringing them back to a blank void, where they're trapped and devoured by an unknown force. Johansson uses her movie-star image as a sort of costume, allowing this creature to lay on the charm just as easily as she turns cold and detached — at least until her burgeoning connection with humanity becomes too much to bear. Rent/buy at Apple or Amazon It's sort of astounding that Johansson never actually appears onscreen in Spike Jonze's prescient sci-fi movie about a lonely man falling in love with an AI operating system. Johansson wasn't even originally cast in the movie, and was only brought in during post-production to replace the original actress as the voice of Samantha, the AI assistant who makes a romantic connection with depressed writer Theodore Twombly (Joaquin Phoenix). Johansson's performance is so key to the movie's success that it's hard to imagine it without her. She makes Samantha sound alluring and relatable as Theodore gets to know her, and later conveys the AI's expanding consciousness as Samantha rebels against the constraints of a single human connection. 'Her' has only become more relevant in the current age of AI, and it provides a bittersweet counterpoint to common dystopian perspectives. Watch on Prime Video One of the best things about Noah Baumbach's equally harrowing and humane drama about a couple's acrimonious divorce is that it's easy to argue that either party is in the right. That's thanks to Baumbach's deft writing and direction, as well as the brilliant lead performances from Johansson and Adam Driver. Baumbach takes the time to let viewers understand why these people were in love and seemed ideally matched before he shows their relationship falling apart. The villain here isn't the husband or the wife, but the grueling divorce industry that turns an initially amicable split into a ferocious battle, culminating in a devastating central fight between the estranged spouses. Johansson and Driver are just as genuinely moving in that moment of intense anger as they are in the lighthearted scenes, portraying the full spectrum of emotion in such a life-changing process. Watch on Netflix Johansson appeared as former Russian spy Natasha Romanoff in nine Marvel Cinematic Universe movies, but this is the only one that places her front and center, and it came after her character had already been killed off. That makes it somewhat underappreciated in the MCU, but Johansson demonstrates why Natasha became so popular with superhero fans, who advocated for years for her to get her own movie. Set before and during the events of previous MCU movies, 'Black Widow' introduces Natasha's dysfunctional adopted family of fellow covert agents, played by David Harbour, Rachel Weisz and Florence Pugh. Their fractured dynamic is the best part of the movie, which delves into Natasha's brutal upbringing in the sadistic training facility known as the Red Room, and finally gives her a chance to take her revenge. Watch on Disney Plus 5 best Pedro Pascal movies, ranked The best movie of 2025 (so far) you missed in theaters just arrived on streaming — and it's a hilariously heartfelt watch Prime Video just got a hilarious new action comedy with Orlando Bloom — and it's 95% on Rotten Tomatoes

Guests descend on Venice for Jeff Bezos wedding - amid last-minute change after protests

Guests have begun arriving in Venice for Amazon founder Jeff Bezos's multimillion-pound wedding, which has had to find a new venue. The billionaire will marry Lauren Sanchez in the Italian city this week, and the couple will mark the occasion with three days of celebrations costing up to €48m (£41m). The venue where the couple will say their vows has been kept secret, but their wedding party has at the last minute been moved out of the city centre, Reuters news agency reports. It had been due to take place at the Scuola Grande della Misericordia but will now be held at the Arsenale, a source told Reuters. The new venue is a 14th-century complex surrounded by water and impossible to reach by land when bridges are raised. Amid the last-minute changes, guests, including Donald Trump's daughter, have begun arriving in Italy. Ivanka Trump and her husband, Jared Kushner, were seen boarding a water taxi at Venice airport on Tuesday, as was fashion designer Diane von Furstenberg. The move comes after weeks of protests from some local residents and pressure groups, who say and his fiancee are not welcome in the city. Read more: The leader of the 'No Space for Bezos' campaign said: "The news that Bezos has run away from the Misericordia is a great victory for us." The group has announced more protests for Saturday, believed to be the main day of celebrations, and pledged to make the event a "nightmare" for Bezos and his guests.
