Report: Heat, Bulls teams to monitor as sign-and-trade candidates for Jonathan Kuminga
The offseason of Jonathan Kuminga is underway. After four seasons with the Golden State Warriors, the 22-year-old wing is eligible to become a restricted free agent this summer. After an up-and-down season that saw him jump in and out of the rotation, along with questions about his fit alongside Jimmy Butler, questions have begun to loom about Kuminga's future in the Bay Area.
While the Warriors could opt to ink Kuminga to a new contract, Mike Dunleavy Jr. and Steve Kerr could opt to trade Kuminga this summer.
According to Mike Scotto of Hoops Hype, a pair of Eastern Conference teams have emerged as potential candidates for Kuminga in a sign-and-trade this offseason. The Miami Heat and Chicago Bulls are "teams to monitor" as potential sign-and-trade candidates for Kuminga, per Scotto. Scotto also reported the Warriors have not ruled out the possibility of keeping Kuminga in the Bay Area.
Via Hoops Hype:
The Chicago Bulls and Miami Heat are two teams to monitor as potential sign-and-trade candidates for Kuminga, league sources told HoopsHype. With that in mind, the Warriors have also not ruled out the possibility of retaining Kuminga, sources said.
Along with Kuminga, the Heat have been one of the teams linked to former Warrior Kevin Durant. The Heat are one of the teams that Durant reportedly prefers to land with in a trade from the Phoenix Suns. According to Scotto, Kuminga is a "fallback option" for the Heat if they can't work a deal for Durant or Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo.
Miami has prioritized pursuits of Giannis Antetokounmpo (if he became available this summer) and Durant (whom they're actively trying to acquire) on their wish list ahead of Kuminga, who's viewed as a fallback option to the two superstars.
Kuminga has spent the first four seasons of his career with the Warriors after being selected in the first round of the 2021 NBA draft. The 22-year-old forward is coming off a season where he averaged 15.3 points on 45.4% shooting from the field with 4.6 rebounds and 2.2 assists in 47 games.
Kuminga is set to become a restricted free agent when free agency begins on July 6. Players can begin negotiating with each other on June 30 at 3 p.m. PT.

Heat Named as Top Destinations for Two NBA Champions on Trade Block

Heat Named as Top Destinations for Two NBA Champions on Trade Block originally appeared on Athlon Sports. NBA trade rumors have been flying around the sports media world over the past few weeks with some of the league's biggest stars. Advertisement Giannis Antetokounmpo and Kevin Durant are two of the biggest players in the NBA, and both former champions are now on the trade block, ready for their next step in their careers. On ESPN's First Take with Stephen A. Smith, he gave his 'A-List' of top five destinations for the two stars. While the Miami Heat were not his top choice, they were listed as top destinations for both Antetokounmpo and Durant. They were No. 4 and No. 5 on Smith's list, respectively. Rebilas-Imagn Images Durant's top five were the New York Knicks, Houston Rockets, Minnesota Timberwolves, Detroit Pistons, and the Heat. For Antetokounmpo, Smith lists the Knicks, Rockets, Dallas Mavericks, Heat, and Boston Celtics. Advertisement As a Knicks fan, Smith listed them as the No. 1 destination for both stars, as seems to be a common theme for most free agents or trade targets in the NBA. A big market team however would not be surprising for either superstar, so teams like the Knicks, Heat, and Celtics would all make sense. Regardless of where the two superstars end up, and if it does wind up being the Heat, it will come at a hefty price. Any opportunity to trade for a player of this talent must be taken into consideration, and may have to part ways with a plethora of young talent and draft picks. With the NBA Finals in play and the 2025 NBA Draft coming up, a trade for one, if not both stars, may be coming within the next month. Kevin Durant, Giannis Antetokounmpo Being Eyed by Same NBA Team

Kevin Durant, Giannis Antetokounmpo Being Eyed by Same NBA Team originally appeared on Athlon Sports. NBA legends Kevin Durant and Giannis Antetokounmpo are two of the best players the league has ever seen. The future Hall of Famers have combined to win three MVPs, three championships and three Finals MVPs. Durant has played for the Oklahoma City Thunder, Golden State Warriors, Brooklyn Nets and Phoenix Suns. He will play for his fifth team next season, as the Suns are going to trade him this offseason. Meanwhile, Antetokounmpo has spent his entire career with the Bucks. The Heat want to acquire Kevin Durant or Giannis Antetokounmpo this summer. © Mark J. Rebilas-Imagn Images Durant and Antetokounmpo have many things in common. They are not only NBA icons, but they have also been linked to the same team this offseason. According to Michael Scotto of HoopsHype, the Miami Heat want to trade for Durant or Antetokounmpo this summer. Advertisement If Miami can't get Antetokounmpo or Durant, they could pursue Warriors restricted free agent Jonathan Kuminga. 'Miami has prioritized pursuits of Giannis Antetokounmpo (if he became available this summer) and Durant (whom they're actively trying to acquire) on their wish list ahead of Kuminga, who's viewed as a fallback option to the two superstars,' Scotto wrote. The Heat were swept in the first round of this year's playoffs by the Cleveland Cavaliers. Jimmy Butler requested a trade from Miami and was traded to Durant's old team, the Warriors. Antetokounmpo hasn't requested a trade from the Bucks, so he's likely staying in Milwaukee.
