Kevin Durant Faced Rejection From His Top NBA Trade Choice

Kevin Durant Faced Rejection From His Top NBA Trade Choice originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Shams Charania of ESPN reported on Saturday that Kevin Durant wants the Phoenix Suns to trade him to the Miami Heat, San Antonio Spurs or Houston Rockets. Advertisement However, the Suns can trade Durant anywhere since the future Hall of Famer doesn't have a no-trade clause in his contract. Durant will play for his fifth team next season. The NBA legend has played for the Oklahoma City Thunder, Golden State Warriors, Brooklyn Nets and Suns. Durant won the 2014 MVP Award with the Thunder and back-to-back titles and Finals MVPs with the Warriors in 2017 and 2018. Since leaving the Warriors, Durant hasn't even gotten back to the conference finals. He's also been swept in the first round of the playoffs twice. Kevin Durant wanted to play for the Knicks. Mark J. Rebilas-Imagn Images The Suns have had trade discussions with the Heat, Spurs and Rockets about a Durant trade. But according to Marc J. Spears of ESPN, Durant "wanted" to get traded to the New York Knicks. Advertisement The Knicks, though, were not interested in trading for the NBA icon. New York made the conference finals this year for the first time since 2000, losing to the Indiana Pacers in six games. Tom Thibodeau was fired as head coach, so the Knicks are looking for a new coach right now. Durant and Kyrie Irving chose to sign with the Nets in 2019 instead of the Knicks. Irving and Durant didn't have much success in Brooklyn, as the furthest they went in the playoffs was the second round in 2021. The Knicks made two blockbuster trades last year, acquiring Mikal Bridges from the Nets and Karl-Anthony Towns from the Minnesota Timberwolves. While things can always change, it doesn't appear New York will trade for Durant. Kevin Durant Has Strong Opinion on Potential Knicks Trade

Kevin Durant Has Strong Opinion on Potential Knicks Trade originally appeared on Athlon Sports. As the NBA heads into the offseason, everyone has their eyes on the Phoenix Suns, and more specifically, their star forward Kevin Durant. Advertisement Durant is expected to be traded by the Suns this offseason and recent reports suggest that a trade could take place before the 2025 NBA Draft as Phoenix looks to add another first-round pick. Of course, there have been many teams linked to Durant heading into the offseason but three teams have emerged as frontrunners to land him after a recent report. According to ESPN's Shams Charania, the San Antonio Spurs, Houston Rockets and Miami Heat are Durant's preferred landing spots in a potential trade. One team that was not named in this report was the New York Knicks despite them being linked to the future Hall of Famer. Advertisement New York has been named in trade rumors for Durant but it is clear that they have their minds made up about a potential trade, though Durant also had a strong opinion about it. Phoenix Suns star Kevin DurantMark J. Rebilas-Imagn Images According to ESPN's Marc J. Spears, Durant wanted to be traded to the Knicks this summer but New York has no interest in acquiring him. 'KD wanted the New York Knicks. He wanted to go there. The Knicks have no interest in bringing him in,' Spears said. This is not a major surprise on the Knicks' side as they are focused on finding a new head coach and likely upgrading their bench in the offseason while keeping the main pieces of their core together. Advertisement Despite this, Durant reportedly wanted to join the Knicks this summer via trade to help them chase a championship next season, but that is now unlikely to happen with New York having no interest in him. Phoenix Suns forward Kevin Durant gestures to the referee for a foul call against the Toronto Raptors at Scotiabank Hamilton-Imagn Images Because of this, Durant's focus will now likely remain on the three teams Charania listed in his report, though the Suns can trade Durant anywhere they want to acquire the largest trade package possible to kickstart their rebuild. Kevin Durant to Raptors Trade Report Surfaces After Giannis Antetokounmpo News

Kevin Durant to Raptors Trade Report Surfaces After Giannis Antetokounmpo News originally appeared on Athlon Sports. This past season, the Toronto Raptors finished with a 30-52 record and missed the playoffs for the fourth time in the last five seasons. Furthermore, they secured the No. 9 pick in the upcoming NBA Draft after the draft lottery. However, despite their losing season, things may soon look up for the Raptors. Advertisement In addition to having a solid young core led by Scottie Barnes, Toronto also acquired former All-Star Brandon Ingram from the New Orleans Pelicans this season, though he has yet to make his debut for the team. Above all else, however, they have been linked to some major stars in trade rumors, including Giannis Antetokounmpo and Kevin Durant. Recently, reports surfaced suggesting that there is mutual interest between Antetokounmpo and the Raptors (h/t Doug Smith of the Toronto Star). However, they are also a possible destination for Durant, who many expect the Phoenix Suns will trade this offseason. On Friday, NBA insider Marc Stein provided a major update regarding a potential Raptors trade for the Suns star that will be crucial to monitor throughout the offseason. Phoenix Suns star Kevin Durant (35).Jesse Johnson-Imagn Images Durant just wrapped up his second full season in Phoenix, which did not go according to plan. For the first time since 2020, the Suns missed the playoffs after a disappointing season. Nothing is official yet, but the Suns are heavily rumored to trade Durant this offseason following their lackluster campaign, and the Raptors are a team to keep an eye on. Advertisement According to Stein (subscription required), the Raptors may have "a more realistic shot" at acquiring Durant in the offseason instead of Antetokounmpo. 'Toronto has likewise been painted by numerous NBA figures as a potential trade suitor for Durant … particularly if Antetokounmpo doesn't reach the open market," Fischer wrote."The Raptors, furthermore, would figure to have a more realistic shot at assembling a competitive trade offer for Durant compared to the mammoth offers that the Bucks would inevitably seek for Antetokounmpo's services.' While it likely would not make them immediate title favorites, a trade for Durant would drastically improve Toronto's standing in the Eastern Conference. If the Suns opt to move on from the 36-year-old, they will likely have a lot of suitors. This includes the Raptors, who could be just one major move away from becoming contenders once again.
