Kevin Durant to Raptors Trade Report Surfaces After Giannis Antetokounmpo News
Kevin Durant to Raptors Trade Report Surfaces After Giannis Antetokounmpo News originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
This past season, the Toronto Raptors finished with a 30-52 record and missed the playoffs for the fourth time in the last five seasons. Furthermore, they secured the No. 9 pick in the upcoming NBA Draft after the draft lottery. However, despite their losing season, things may soon look up for the Raptors.

In addition to having a solid young core led by Scottie Barnes, Toronto also acquired former All-Star Brandon Ingram from the New Orleans Pelicans this season, though he has yet to make his debut for the team. Above all else, however, they have been linked to some major stars in trade rumors, including Giannis Antetokounmpo and Kevin Durant.
Recently, reports surfaced suggesting that there is mutual interest between Antetokounmpo and the Raptors (h/t Doug Smith of the Toronto Star). However, they are also a possible destination for Durant, who many expect the Phoenix Suns will trade this offseason.
On Friday, NBA insider Marc Stein provided a major update regarding a potential Raptors trade for the Suns star that will be crucial to monitor throughout the offseason.

Durant just wrapped up his second full season in Phoenix, which did not go according to plan. For the first time since 2020, the Suns missed the playoffs after a disappointing season. Nothing is official yet, but the Suns are heavily rumored to trade Durant this offseason following their lackluster campaign, and the Raptors are a team to keep an eye on.

According to Stein (subscription required), the Raptors may have "a more realistic shot" at acquiring Durant in the offseason instead of Antetokounmpo.
'Toronto has likewise been painted by numerous NBA figures as a potential trade suitor for Durant … particularly if Antetokounmpo doesn't reach the open market," Fischer wrote."The Raptors, furthermore, would figure to have a more realistic shot at assembling a competitive trade offer for Durant compared to the mammoth offers that the Bucks would inevitably seek for Antetokounmpo's services.'
While it likely would not make them immediate title favorites, a trade for Durant would drastically improve Toronto's standing in the Eastern Conference. If the Suns opt to move on from the 36-year-old, they will likely have a lot of suitors. This includes the Raptors, who could be just one major move away from becoming contenders once again.

Hall of Fame Receiver Demands Commanders Pay Terry McLaurin
Hall of Fame Receiver Demands Commanders Pay Terry McLaurin originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Washington Commanders wide receiver Terry McLaurin may not be a Hall-of-Fame player on the level of Calvin Johnson, but that doesn't mean he isn't elite in his own right. Advertisement The All-Pro receiver is coming off a career year in which he recorded 13 touchdowns while helping to lead Washington to its first conference title appearance in 30 years. Now, McLaurin wants a new deal. The former Ohio State product is entering the final year of his contract with the team and is looking to be paid among the elite receivers in the sport. Johnson, a former Detroit Lions all-time great, fully supports this. In a recent appearance on Up & Adams, Johnson praised McLaurin and believes the receiver is worthy of a long-term extension. "I don't know Terry very well, but from afar, man, the guy has been nothing but consistent for that organization," Johnson said. "He's been a staple there in Washington his whole career. And you know, he plays his role, plays it well. He steps up in big games. And I love watching the kid because he's always making plays." Advertisement Johnson and McLaurin share many things in common. Both struggled to find stability in their starting quarterbacks until an SEC signal-caller was brought into the organization. Both were great before, during, and after those SEC quarterbacks were brought in. Johnson is considered one of the greatest modern receivers in NFL history. McLaurin isn't at that stage yet but is regarded as one of the more consistent players in the league today. McLaurin will eventually get the deal he's been coveting for years now. And it'll only make a Hall-of-Famer like Johnson happy at this point. Jalen Williams scores 40 points as Thunder defeat Pacers in Game 5 of NBA Finals, move one win away from title
Jalen Williams scored a career playoff-high 40 points, MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander added 31, and the Thunder moved one win from a title by beating the Pacers, 120-109, on Monday night. 'We're learning,' said Williams, whose previous playoff best was 34. It was the 10th — and by far, the biggest — time the Thunder stars combined for more than 70 points in a game. Williams was 14 of 24 from the field, and Gilgeous-Alexander added 10 assists. Advertisement JDUB DELIVERS A GAME 5 MASTERPIECE 💯🔥 ⚡️ 40 PTS (playoff career high) ⚡️ 24 PTS in 2H ⚡️ 14-25 FGM ⚡️ 3rd-straight 25+ PT game — NBA (@NBA) 'It wasn't a perfect game at all and there's a lot of room for growth,' Thunder coach Mark Daigneault said. 'But our improvement from Game 4 to Game 5 was critical.' Get Starting Point A guide through the most important stories of the morning, delivered Monday through Friday. Enter Email Sign Up Pascal Siakam had 28 points for Indiana, which will host Game 6 on Thursday night. TJ McConnell added 18 for the Pacers, who whittled an 18-point deficit down to two in the fourth — then watched the Thunder pull away again, and for good. 'It kind of went away from us,' Siakam said. 'But the fight was there.' It was, but now everything favors the Thunder. Teams that win Game 5 of an NBA Finals that was tied at 2-2 have gone on to win the series 23 times in 31 previous opportunities. And teams with a 3-2 lead in the finals have won 40 times in 49 previous opportunities. Advertisement But Game 5 was not easy. Far from it. Down by 18 late in the second quarter, the Pacers — the comeback kings of these playoffs, with as many wins in this postseason from 15 points down or more (five) than the rest of the league has combined, including in Game 1 of this series — did what they do, chipping away. And they did it with Tyrese Haliburton reduced to basically playing decoy on offense because of a leg issue that he aggravated in the first quarter. 'He's not 100%,' Pacers coach Rick Carlisle said. 'It's pretty clear.' Led by McConnell, who scored 13 points in just under seven minutes of the third, the Pacers got within five late in that quarter. Then, Siakam went to work — a pair of free throws with 9:19 left got Indiana within four, then a 3-pointer about a minute later made it 95-93. In the play-by-play era of the NBA, starting with the 1997 playoffs, teams with leads of 15 points or more in the finals were 80-9. Make that 81-9 now, and the Thunder are one win away from giving Oklahoma City its first NBA title. 'That was honestly the same exact game as Game 1,' Williams said. 'Learning through these finals, that's what makes a team good.' One more win, and his team will be certified as great.

NBA Reacts to New Video of Tyrese Haliburton on Monday
NBA Reacts to New Video of Tyrese Haliburton on Monday originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Indiana Pacers earned their place in the NBA Finals by dispatching the New York Knicks in six games in the Eastern Conference finals, and then advancing past both the Cleveland Cavaliers and Milwaukee Bucks in five games apiece during earlier rounds. Advertisement A huge reason for their playoff success has been Tyrese Haliburton, the 12th overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft by the Sacramento Kings, who was traded to Indiana for Domantas Sabonis. The former Iowa State Cyclone has had an impressive postseason run, averaging 18.6 points per game on 47.3 percent shooting from the field along with 9.3 assists per game. Haliburton nailed a flawless 22 seconds of consecutive makes and the clip was widely shared across social media with the caption, 'HALIBURTON CAN'T MISS IN WARMUPS 🔥, 22 seconds of consecutive makes from the Pacers star: mesmerizing.' Throughout this postseason, Haliburton has etched his name into Pacers history by sinking four critical game-altering shots. Advertisement In one instance, he drove past the defense for a lay-up with just 1.3 seconds left to secure a narrow victory against the Milwaukee Bucks, erasing a late deficit. Another unforgettable moment came with his buzzer-beating step-back three-pointer against the Cleveland Cavaliers to win the game. His deep two-pointer in a heated battle against the New York Knicks forced overtime and set the stage for an improbable comeback, and most recently, a 21-foot pull-up jumper with 0.3 seconds remaining clinched a Game 1 win in the NBA Finals against the Thunder.
