Trump Says Newsom Isn't the Right Leader for California

Speaking of Gavin Newsom, is he the right leader for California, considering how massive their economy is and all these U.S. investments coming in? Is he the right governor and leader for the future of California and for the rest of us is him? And I think he's done a terrible job. And, you know, he's a guy who always got along with him. You look at his past statements about how he's a great president. I always took care of California, you know, all that. But I'm just talking to and results. You look. You know, he has the advantage of beautiful weather, maybe the best weather of any state when you think about it. Beautiful weather, beautiful ocean, beautiful everything. You have all the advantages. And he didn't take advantage of that. And he's let people come in by the millions who are overrunning your hospitals, your education system and your police. Your police are being overrun. Look at what's happened. He should only be happy I sent in the military because if I didn't send them in, you would have had a problem there, the likes of which we haven't seen in a long time.

Albanese said his government had made representations to the Trump administration over the incident. A video released online showed Nine News reporter Lauren Tomasi being hit with a rubber bullet that appeared to be fired by a police officer while covering the Los Angeles protests on Sunday.

Why Trump's Deployment Of Military in California Is So Controversial

President Donald Trump ordered the California National Guard on June 7 to dispatch at least 2,000 soldiers to the Los Angeles area as thousands of people demonstrating against immigration raids clashed with security forces. After vandalism and violence broke out, the Pentagon escalated the federal response by also mobilizing 700 active-duty Marines. The president said on his Truth Social platform that federal agencies were to take 'all such action necessary' to stop what he called 'migrant riots.' The rare move by a president to mobilize military forces to quell domestic unrest was quickly condemned as unnecessary and counterproductive by local authorities, including Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass and California Governor Gavin Newsom.
