"I want to be an IAS officer," says CBSE topper Savi Jain
Shamli (Uttar Pradesh) [India], May 14 (ANI): The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) declared the Class XII examination results, recording a pass percentage of 88.39 per cent, an increase of 0.41 per cent compared to last year. Among the toppers was Savi Jain, a student of Scottish International School in Shamli, who secured 499 marks out of 500, becoming the national topper. She hopes to join the civil services as an IAS officer.
Speaking to ANI on Wednesday, Savi Jain said, 'I am very happy. Everyone is happy. My family and my teachers are very happy. I had five subjects: history, geography, political science, English, and painting. I scored full marks in four subjects.'
She described her study schedule, 'I used to do self-study for 4-5 hours.' Jain shared her future plans, adding, 'I want to join the civil services as an IAS.'
On Tuesday, Speaker of Lok Sabha Om Birla congratulated students who successfully passed the CBSE Class X and XII examinations.
In his message, Birla highlighted the importance of hard work, discipline, and focus in achieving academic success.
In a post on X, Birla said, 'Heartiest congratulations to all students who have cleared the CBSE Class X and XII examinations. Your success reflects sincere effort, discipline, and focus.'
The CBSE class 10th and 12th examinations started on February 15 and concluded on March 18 and April 4, respectively. Class 10th students achieved a passing percentage of 93.66, whereas 88.39 per cent of students passed the Class 12th examination.
Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the students of classes X and XII on Tuesday, who cleared their CBSE examinations after the results were announced.
The PM also encouraged those disappointed with their results, saying, ' One exam cannot define you.'
Meanwhile, 91 per cent of girls have passed the CBSE class 12th examinations this year, 5.94 per cent more than the boys. On the other hand, 95 per cent of girls passed the CBSE class 10th examination, which was 2.37 per cent more than the boys. A total of 22,38,827 students appeared for the examinations, out of which 20,95,467 students passed. (ANI)

Teachers' associations want rollback of 3-lang policy
Pune: Over 20 associations and groups working in the education sector have written to the state govt asking it to scrap the recently introduced compulsory third language in Stds I to V and revert to the two-language policy adopted until now. Schools are set reopen for the new academic year on June 16. The controversy started when govt issued an order on April 16 stating that Hindi will be compulsory as the third language. When it ran into opposition, school education minister Dada Bhuse, on April 22, announced that Hindi was not compulsory, it could be any other language. However, teachers' associations and education experts have told govt to scrap the three-language policy until Std V and issue a fresh GR to this effect. Mahendra Ganpule, spokesperson for Maharashtra School Principals' Federation, said, "Until now, in local body-run schools, Marathi was the first language and English the second or vice versa. Hindi was added in Std VI. We want that system to continue." "Before every decision, there should be a healthy discussion between govt and the stakeholders that the decision affects. This should be a statewide discussion and not limited to certain centres. But lately, there has been no dialogue at all and decisions are being announced without considering anything. We oppose this," Kalpande said. Anand civic body to set up two English medium schools
Vadodara: After getting the status of a municipal corporation, the Anand civic body will, for the first time, start two English medium primary schools. A proposal to start new English medium primary schools at the cost of Rs 2.5 crore was approved by the state govt. The decision of the state govt comes after Anand's BJP MLA Yogesh Patel raised the demand to start English medium schools in the municipal corporation area for the benefit of students from low-income groups. Patel raised the demand for the primary schools after Anand municipal commissioner Milind Bapna presented the first budget of the newly formed Anand Municipal Corporation. The state govt recently sanctioned Rs 148 crore for development works in the Anand municipal limits. "The new primary schools will help girls and boys from humble families study in English medium from Classes 1 to 8 due to the decision taken by the state govt," said Patel. "

Paraguay president's X account likely hacked in Bitcoin scheme
Paraguay's government on Monday said that President Santiago Pena's X account had likely been hacked after the leader appeared to promote trading of cryptocurrency Bitcoin. 'The president's official X account has presented irregular activity which suggests possible unauthorized entry,' the government said in a statement. A post on Pena's account in English, with a Spanish-language statement purporting to be from the government, had declared that the Latin American country had made Bitcoin legal tender and that it would roll out a $5 million Bitcoin-backed reserve fund. The government asked citizens to ignore posts from the account until official confirmation was made available. Paraguay's national cybersecurity team was working with X to investigate the situation, the government added. X did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
