Opposition calls APC on July 31-Aug 1
"We will hold an APC and invite people from state institutions as well. We will step out for the sake of this country. Whatever issue concerns any section of society, we will support it unconditionally," said head of the alliance, Mahmood Khan Achakzai during a press conference in Islamabad.
Achakzai, who is also the chief of the PkMAP, claimed that the opposition's alliance is the first political alliance not formed at the behest of any institution. It is also not created for spectacle or drama, he added.
According to the politician, the alliance would continue until the country has a truly impartial polls oversight authority, supremacy of the Constitution, and a parliament that is the true source of power.
Referring to former prime minister Imran Khan, he said the leader of the party that won the general elections of February 8 was jailed and a government was formed by terrorizing the people. This is an insult to governance, he added.
Achakzai claimed that anti-terrorism courts (ATC) sentenced both adults and minors to ten years in prison in the May 9 cases. "We will go from street to street and alley to alley in protest against this government. We will protest from Gilgit-Baltistan to Gwadar, but we will neither use abusive language nor violence," he said.
PTI's Salman Akram Raja also addressed the media, stating that the country needed to be set on the right path as it could not be run through the use of force.
"Our movement for the protection of the Constitution' is constitutional and ideological. We do not intend violence. No one should use this movement as a pretext to impose more repression. Our people have been punished solely because they were affiliated with the PTI," he said.

PTI carries out countrywide protest rallies amid Section 144 in twin cities
The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is carrying out protest rallies across the country, amid imposition of Section 144 in twin cities and crackdown of law enforcement agencies on the political public gatherings. The Islamabad and Rawalpindi administrations have imposed Section 144, banning public gatherings and processions in the twin cities. The PTI on its social media platforms has said numerous of its workers, including PTI leader Usman Dar's mother Rehana Dar, were arrested in various parts of the country in a bid to stop them from staging rallies, as the former ruling party is marking the second anniversary of incarceration of PTI founding chairman and former prime minister Imran Khan today, with 'peaceful protests', demanding his release. A day ago, PTI Punjab released a 12-page white paper titled 'Detention of Former Prime Minister Imran Khan: Political Victimisation and Human Rights Abuses (August 2023-August 2025).' Addressing a presser along PTI senior leader Barrister Ali Zafar, Head of the Media Cell for PTI Punjab Shayan Bashir said his party has decided to organise peaceful protests to mark second anniversary of Imran's imprisonment. Currently, the PTI leader stated, Khan is confined to a 10-foot room, and the authorities do not permit him to meet with his family freely. Recently, even his lawyers have been denied access, and cases have been filed against his wife to apply pressure on him, he maintained. The PTI's dossier outlines a series of issues including political persecution, judicial manipulation, electoral interference, and state-led repression. It claims that Imran Khan has faced over 186 politically motivated FIRs across the country since August 2023. According to the report, convictions in controversial cases, such as the Toshakhana reference, the cipher case, and the Al-Qadir Trust case, were delivered through closed-door trials that were characterised by procedural violations and media blackouts, in blatant defiance of Articles 10-A and 14 of the Constitution. From the party's perspective, the dossier emphasised violations of court orders, human rights abuses, electoral engineering, subversion of democracy, and suppression of peaceful protests. The white paper makes several demands, including the immediate release of Imran Khan, Bushra Bibi, and all political prisoners who are jailed for peaceful expression or association. It also calls for the reversal of all politicied convictions and the initiation of fair retrials overseen by independent benches and international observers. Furthermore, the document demands the formation of an impartial judicial commission to investigate police brutality, forced disappearances, attacks on peaceful protesters, and custodial torture.

President, PM, armed forces reiterate support for Kashmiris' right to self-determination
President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif have paid tribute to the resilience of the Kashmiri people and reiterated Pakistan's unwavering moral, political and diplomatic support for their right to self-determination. In their messages on Youm-e-Istehsal, they called upon the international community to urge India to halt its human rights crimes in IIOJK, reverse its unilateral and illegal actions of 5 August 2019 and implement the UN Security Council resolutions on Jammu and Kashmir. President Zardari said India's move on August 5, 2019 was aimed at changing the disputed status of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir and weakening the right of Kashmiris to self-determination, the Pakistan Peoples Party Media Cell reported. 'Kashmir Exploitation Day' today In his message, Prime Minister Shehbaz said Youm-e-Istehsal is a sobering reminder of India's rejection of peace and stability and its pursuit of a policy of brutality and unilateralism, the PM Office said. He said the imprisonment of Kashmiri leaders and activists will never dim the resolve of our Kashmiri sisters and brothers. On the occasion of Youm-e-Istehsal, Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir along with Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf, Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babar Sidhu, and the entire Pakistan Armed Forces have reaffirmed their unwavering solidarity with the resilient and courageous people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the military's media wing said.
