2 teens found dead in JetBlue landing gear ID'd months later with 'extensive DNA testing'
It took the use of "extensive DNA testing" for detectives to name Jeik Aniluz Lusi, 18, and Elvis Borques Castillo, 16, according to statement by the Broward County Sheriff's Office.
Both teens were from the Dominican Republic, Sheriff's spokesperson Carey Codd added.
Their bodies were found late at night on Jan. 6 after JetBlue Flight 1801 landed at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.
Flight 1801 took off from New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport that evening at 7:49 and landed in South Florida at 11:10 p.m.
That particular craft had also made a stop on Jan. 5 in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic, NBC South Florida previously reported.
The sheriff's statement did not reveal how the teens got into the leading gear or formally state their cause of death.

Man fleeing arrest in Roseville gets caught in swamp, rescued
A man violating a no-contact order fled a traffic stop before becoming trapped in a swamp in a Twin Cities suburb Thursday, necessitating a rescue that ended in his arrest, police say. Officers with the Roseville Police Department stopped a driver on Larpenteur Avenue and found two people inside the car. The officers discovered the driver had a domestic abuse no-contact order against the passenger. Police said the man ran before they could arrest him, ending up in a "marshy swamp." "Eventually, because of how thick the swamp was, the man got too weak and tired and needed to be rescued," the department said. The Ramsey County Sheriff's Office used an airboat to get to the man, and officers jumped into the swamp to save him. The man is in custody for the violation and other warrants, police said. Warren man accused of sending human trafficking messages while in custody at Oakland County Jail
A 33-year-old Warren, Michigan, man is facing three charges after he allegedly sent dozens of messages related to human trafficking while in custody at the Oakland County Jail. Ryan Ramone Wafford is charged with two counts of human trafficking and one count of accepting earnings from prostitution, the Oakland County Sheriff's Office said Saturday. Investigators say Wafford used phones, tablets and video calls at the jail to send "dozens of messages that were consistent with communications regarding human trafficking/forced sex labor activities" while he was in custody. He was allegedly in jail for violating his probation. The sheriff's office said he was arrested by a SWAT team on Friday at his home and that one of his victims and her child were there when he was apprehended. Wafford was arraigned on Saturday and received a $250,000 cash bond, according to the sheriff's office. "Even while in custody on unrelated charges, the suspect continued trying to direct and control others," Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard said in the release. "Thanks to the persistence of our investigators, we were able to uncover this and rescue individuals from human trafficking."
