With fellow Canadian Karl Wolf on stage alongside him, the Toronto-based rapper took fans on a fun ride that showed his Jamaican roots while also making fun of the 'weirdos down South' and wondering if anyone in Ottawa actually had any rhythm.

Earlier, the main-stage party got off to a fantastic start with Dystoh, the fairly new, made-in-Ottawa duo of Ray Tabana and Phil Motion, both widely known and respected for their membership in the legendary local outfit, Souljazz Orchestra.

With Tabana on baritone sax, Motion on percussion and some percolating electronica in the air, the pair demonstrated their Afro-Latin and reggae influences in a super-charged set that included a couple of Souljazz tracks along with the funky Dystoh grooves.

As fans got into the dancing, both musicians looked to be having the time of their lives showing off their vibrant new project on the big Bluesfest stage.

Elsewhere on site, the blues was represented by B.C. troubadour Harry Manx, who brought singer-keyboardist Geneviève Jodoin to join him and his instruments on the LeBreton stage.

Between songs, the Saltspring Island resident lightened the mood with weed jokes and other nuggets of wisdom. One example: 'Blues is not about feeling bad,' he said, 'it's about making other people feel bad.'

Create Account The city said in a statement that the permit for a proposed Aug. 24 show at Mill Lake Park is being denied because of the potential for protesters and counter-protesters. B.C. Conservative legislator Heather Maahs, who represents Chilliwack North, says on social media platform X that Abbotsford's decision 'undermines the principles of an open, democratic society.' Maahs says the cancellation raises 'serious concerns' about freedom of expression, religion and peaceful assembly. Feucht ran unsuccessfully as a Republican candidate for Congress in 2020 and has been criticized for remarks on the LGBTQ+ community and abortion. Six of his concerts in Central and Eastern Canada were cancelled last week. 'Given the recent publicity surrounding the proposed event, the city believes that the event could potentially attract significant numbers of protesters and counter-protesters in addition to attendees,' the City of Abbotsford says in the statement. 'These factors, among others, make the community safety considerations of the proposed event extremely difficult to mitigate, and the city found that no permit conditions could adequately address the potential risks to the public.' Feucht criticizes the cancellation on X. 'You can no longer call Abbotsford the 'Bible Belt' of B.C. when they cancel outdoor worship to Jesus,' Feucht says in the post. Feucht is also due to play in West Kelowna on Aug. 23, and the city said earlier this week that it was reviewing safety and security plans for the private booking and there were 'increased concerns' about the concert. By Anonymous celebrity gossip insider Deuxmoi gets so many submissions daily from around the world that when the New Yorker received photos of former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and American pop star Katy Perry having dinner at swanky Montreal resto Le Violon on Monday night, she didn't think much of it. But when TMZ's report the following morning took off and created a worldwide firestorm that resulted countless memes and an Entertainment Tonight date map pinpointing every stop on their supposed non-date/date, Deuxmoi told The Gazette she may have miscalculated the significance of the soirée. 'I found out about it before TMZ broke the story, and I didn't think anyone else would have this information because it was just coming from a restaurant in Montreal,' she said via phone interview. 'I did not expect TMZ to break it, so I received a text on Monday night about the sighting and I sat on it until the next day.' Deuxmoi is one of the Internet's biggest hot spots for celebrity gossip and candid photos. The Instagram page alone has more than two million followers, and the brand has spun out into merch, an app, a podcast and a novel. But what the self-professed 'curator' didn't expect, and this is where her experience in dealing with mountains of blurry celeb rendezvous photo submissions came in handy, was that there was more than one amateur paparazzi in Danny Smiles's resto. 'Little did I know that someone else at the restaurant sent a picture to TMZ, because my source was a different source than TMZ's source,' she said. That set off alarm bells. 'There were a lot of people at this restaurant. It wasn't empty, so I think they wanted to be seen,' she said. 'If you see where they were sitting, you could see they were sitting very close to the bar, so people were seated up and down the whole bar and their table was right next to that. It looked like that to me. So it's not like they were tucked away in a corner or in a booth. They were out in the open.' Celebrities of Perry's stature are usually pretty careful about being seen. Trudeau was also front and centre at her Bell Centre show on Wednesday night, adding even more fuel to the social media fire. For Canadians, a former prime minister spending time with an American pop star is big news. For Americans like Deuxmoi, Perry is the main draw here. Earlier this July, she announced she was splitting with longtime partner, actor Orlando Bloom. They have one child together. Perry also received a lot of media attention earlier this year, much of it negative, for joining Jeff Bezos's Blue Origin suborbital space flight. Because Trudeau news rarely makes a ripple down south, Deuxmoi said it's harder to get Intel on this week's date compared to when it's two twentysomethings involved. 'She's a pop star, but she's not, you know, like a Sabrina Carpenter or Chappell Roan. She's seasoned so people aren't talking about her as much. So the information is trickling in,' she said. In general, Deuxmoi added that although she has fans around the world willing to risk getting caught snapping a celeb in public for a moment of internet infamy, she rarely gets any submissions from Montreal. 'I gotta say, not really anything. I'm not shocked.' After searching for the word Montreal in her DMs, she landed on a few names. 'Joe Jonas once. Ryan Reynolds was there in May,' she said. 'And that's it. And I get sightings seven days a week.'
