Wales kept on course for World Cup qualification with a comfortable win over Lichtenstein.
Scotland's problems continued as they were humbled 3-1 at home by Iceland.
Postecoglou's two-year reign as Tottenham manager came to an end despite having ended the club's 17-year wait for a trophy with victory in the Europa League final.
Postecoglou delivered on his promise of 'always' winning in his second season thanks to the 1-0 victory over Manchester United in Bilbao on May 21.
It etched the head coach name into the history books as only the third Spurs boss to taste European success and the first since 2008 to lift silverware – provoking an outpouring of affection from a previously split fanbase.
A club statement read: 'We are extremely grateful to Ange for his commitment and contribution during his two years at the club.
'Ange will always be remembered as only the third manager in our history to deliver a European trophy, alongside legendary figures Bill Nicholson and Keith Burkinshaw.
'However, the board has unanimously concluded that it is in the best interests of the club for a change to take place.'
Wales claimed a routine 3-0 World Cup qualifying win over minnows Liechtenstein on a night overshadowed by an injury to Neco Williams.
Joe Rodon's first Wales goal – only his third in senior football – ended Wales' nervous wait to break the deadlock after 39 minutes.
Harry Wilson and Kieffer Moore were also on the scoresheet in the space of three second-half minutes as Wales moved to the top of Group J with seven points from three games.
But Wales will prepare for Monday's test against group favourites Belgium in Brussels with major concerns over the fitness of Williams.
The Nottingham Forest full-back, in trying to cross on the byline midway through the first half, landed awkwardly and was in obvious pain as the Welsh medics ran to treat him.
Williams attempted to get to his feet on two occasions before slumping to the turf and eventually left the pitch on a stretcher.
Cieran Slicker had a debut to forget as Scotland's World Cup qualifying warm-up friendly ended with a 3-1 defeat by Iceland at Hampden Park.
The 22-year-old Ipswich goalkeeper replaced the injured Angus Gunn in the first half, minutes after which he conceded possession before Andri Gudjohnsen beat him with a terrific drive.
John Souttar levelled in the 25th minute from a corner but Slicker and his defenders struggled collectively when the visitors regained the lead from a corner, just before the break, with Scotland midfielder Lewis Ferguson putting through his own goal.
Slicker was again found wanting in the 52nd minute when he was beaten by a Victor Palsson header, which added the gloss for the visitors.

Martinez needed surgery in February after rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament in a match against Crystal Palace, but he's now on the road to recovery. The United defender was carried from the pitch in tears after sustaining the serious injury which ruled him out for the rest of the season. Martinez was a big miss for Ruben Amorim in the final three months of the campaign, as United limped to 15th place in the Premier League and lost the Europa League final against Tottenham. He was one of many injuries in defence for United and won't be able to take a full part in pre-season when that comes around. However, the club have been encouraged by the progress the Argentina international has made, with tests confirming last week that he hasn't got a tear in his meniscus. United are weary of rushing him back and will take a cautious approach to avoid aggravating the injury. But it is hoped he will be able to start an individual rehabilitation programme in the coming months, working individually on the grass during pre-season. The aim will be for Martinez to make his return as soon as possible in the 2025/26 season, when United's team will look very different. Amorim is keen to overhaul his squad – and the club will listen to offers for any of their players – but the United boss is a fan of Martinez. "If you let him, he can go play today without problem," Amorim said in March after Martinez was spotted cheering his team-mates on from the sidelines against Arsenal. "Because he loves the club, he wants to help the team, he understands the context. Like I said, he's a great character, he's really important in the dressing room." The 27-year-old has also been praised for his leadership and encouragement by young midfielder Toby Collyer, who told the club website: 'Licha is another name that's massively helped me, in training every day, around the building, to express myself, giving me little tips on the pitch and helping me through games. He's another one that's really helped me.' Collyer also struggled with injuries, so spent lots of time with Martinez. 'We saw each other every day in the physio room,' he added. 'And even when we're working in the gym, you have little moments where you can chat for a bit. It's nice to have someone like him to get through it with.' Martinez is keen to return as soon as possible. After undergoing surgery he wrote on Instagram: "Today, after going through several stormy days where I allowed myself to feel and accept my sadness, helplessness, insecurities, fears, and a deep emotional imbalance, I am reconnecting with my essence and my values, which help me see things from a kinder and more positive perspective. Stuart Pearce was left disappointed by one England star's 'slow and lethargic' display as the Three Lions underwhelmed with a 1-0 win over lowly-ranked Andorra. Thomas Tuchel became the first England manager to win his first three games in charge without conceding a single goal. But the manner of Saturday's win left much to be desired, with England jeered off the pitch in Barcelona after a lacklustre attacking display. Noni Madueke was the sole bright spark in an England shirt, and set up the game's only goal with a low cross for Harry Kane to tap home. But several England players failed to impress to leave Tuchel with plenty of food for thought just twelve months out from the 2026 World Cup. And Pearce, in particular, was left frustrated by the performance of Cole Palmer, who was afforded the No10 role by Tuchel but failed to influence the game before his withdrawl shortly after the hour mark. 'I dont think he got the game, Pearce told talkSPORT. 'I don't think he understood exactly what was needed from him as a player. 'He played slow and lethargically because he had a lot of time to do so. When you have a lot of time to do so, that's the last thing you need to do. You need to play it quickly, effectively and show energy. 'He's not an aggressive player, but every time there was a challenge and the ball fell between him and an Andorran player, he almost got out of the way apologetically and let the Andorran take the ball of him and the rest of the team had to get it back for him.' Pearce continued: 'I think we're all disappointed with Cole today because we know he has the ability. 'But he's one of those over the next twelve months that has to prove his ability in an England shirt as well as in a Chelsea shirt, so we know we can trust you and you can be that matchwinner that is going to help us win the tournament.' Palmer was far from the only England player who failed to make an impact on the game, with Tuchel critical of his entire side for their lack of intensity during large swathes of the contest. 'I was most worried in the last 20 minutes because I did not like the attitude that we ended the game with,' said the German.
