George Lucas Is Coming to Comic-Con For the First Time Ever
According to Variety, who broke the news of Lucas' first in-person appearance, the man behind the legend of Lucasfilm will be taking part in the convention to promote the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art. Opening in 2026 and located in Los Angeles, the museum has been a long endeavor of the filmmaker, and it makes perfect sense to bring the first look to SDCC. Did we mention it's shaped like a spaceship? It's still rooted in Star Wars.
If you thought George Lucas showing up at Nerd Mecca of all places was wild enough, we haven't gotten to the part about who is on the panel with him. Trust us, the crossover of genre masters is astounding here because joining him will be Guillermo Del Toro (Frankenstein), alongside legendary visual designer Doug Chiang, and surprise moderator in Queen Latifah, to expound on the generations of movie history coming to the Lucas Museum next year.
'We are beyond thrilled to welcome George Lucas to Comic-Con for the very first time,' shared Comic-Con's chief of communications and strategy, David Glanzer, through a statement published in the trade. 'Nearly five decades ago, 'Star Wars' made one of its earliest public appearances at our convention, along with a booth featuring Howard Chaykin's now legendary 'Star Wars' poster as a promotional item. Now, to have Mr. Lucas return—this time to debut the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art—is a true full-circle moment. His lifelong dedication to visual storytelling and world-building resonates deeply with us and our community, and the museum's mission to celebrate narrative art in all its forms perfectly reflects what Comic-Con has championed from the very beginning.'
Here's the official panel description:
Sneak Peek of the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art — Legendary filmmaker George Lucas will make an appearance alongside Academy Award-winning director Guillermo del Toro and Academy Award-winning artist Doug Chiang. The panel, moderated by Queen Latifah, will discuss the power of illustrated stories and the role of narrative art in society. From ancient cave drawings and hieroglyphics to paintings, murals, illustrations, comics, digital media, and sculptures, this panel will delve into the universal language of illustrated storytelling. (Hall H)
So if you thought you were leaving the convention Saturday night or Sunday morning, you were sorely mistaken. There's a chance you might be joining us in the overnight Hall H line to make it into this unprecedented panel because, as a delightful bonus, it's being held on the last day of the convention, Sunday, July 27.

‘Dream Come True': Trainer Aggie Ordonez ‘Swinging Big' With Star California-Bred Om N Joy
'Dream Come True': Trainer Aggie Ordonez 'Swinging Big' With Star California-Bred Om N Joy originally appeared on Paulick Report. After a 21-year training career, the 3-year-old California-bred filly Om N Joy is providing 57-year-old Aggie Ordonez with several career chestnut filly provided Ordonez with her first career stakes win in the Evening Jewel Stakes at Santa Anita in May, and with her first stakes win at Del Mar when Om N Joy won the Fleet Treat over seven furlongs for 3-year-old California-bred fillies by 4 ¼ lengths on July 25. The daughter of Om out of Margie's Minute (Hard Spun) is owned in partnership by breeders Jerry and Connie Baker, Michael Golovko, and Terrence Scanlan.'Winning the Fleet Treat was a dream come true,' said Ordonez. 'I'm pretty sure she hasn't peaked by a long way. My dreams are getting bigger by the day with this filly.'Ordonez's life has revolved around racing for as long as she can remember. She was born in 1968 to Pete and Julia Anderson. Her father, Pete, was a big-league jockey, riding horses such as Forego, Cavan, Cannonade, and Sword Dancer, and he later trained racehorses, as graduated in the class of 1990 from Tulane University in New Orleans, La., and went on to work in racing publicity in the afternoons, while galloping racehorses in the morning. As time went on, she realized she wanted to be the one answering the media's questions, not asking them. She started her first horse in 2004 and relies on what she learned from her father in her training.'My dad had so much respect for a racehorse,' said Ordonez. 'He was so far ahead of everyone in the respect of treating these animals like treasures and putting their well-being first.'Ordonez, like her father, has a kind hand with a horse. She shared that she likes to massage her runners before putting a bridle on them. Several times, Om N Joy has yawned as Ordonez is trying to put the bridle on, causing Ordonez to joke that she might be overdoing it with her attempts to relax her runners. Om N Joy, who Ordonez calls a 'gentle giant,' is on a four-race winning streak, starting with her maiden-breaking score when she returned to dirt after spending the winter running on turf. Since then, she's dominated the California-bred sophomore filly scene with victories in the Evening Jewel Stakes, Melair Stakes, and now the Fleet Treat described Om N Joy as a 'gangly' 2-year-old, even doubting that she would make it to the races as a juvenile because of her physical and mental immaturity.'When she first started breezing, if I wanted her to go a half mile, I would tell the rider to go five,' Ordonez explained. 'Because it was in the early days, it took her an eighth of a mile to kind of get the idea.' Om N Joy surprised her trainer and made six starts at two, including two thirds, before running a distant last in the Grade 2 Oak Leaf in her third explained that she was hoping to run Om N Joy in a two-turn dirt maiden after she didn't take to the tapeta training track at Santa Ordonez couldn't find a routing dirt maiden for Om N Joy, she was left with few options. She could run her filly on the turf, which she probably wouldn't like, or run her against the best juvenile fillies California has in the Oak Leaf Stakes, where she might be outclassed.'I know that's a crazy move, but sometimes when you know you've got something special in a young horse, you have to give them an opportunity to prove you're wrong,' said Ordonez. It wasn't Om N Joy's day in the Oak Leaf, but now she's the second-highest earner from that field, only trailing G1 winner Del Mar's summer meet in full swing, Ordonez is at a crossroads with her star she run against older California-bred fillies and mares on the turf in the Solana Beach Stakes on Aug. 17, or stay on her preferred surface but against open company in the G3 Torrey Pines on the Pacific Classic undercard on Aug. 30?'It's a Grade 3,' Ordonez said. 'That's a big step, but here I go again, swinging big.' This story was originally reported by Paulick Report on Jul 29, 2025, where it first appeared.

When Will ‘South Park' Season 27 Return With Episode 2?
"South Park" Season 27 partial poster. 'South Park' Season 27 came back with a bang last week with its controversial President Donald Trump episode. When will creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone return with Episode 2 on cable and streaming? South Park officially returned with its 27th season last week on Wednesday, just on the heels of a new five-year, $1.5 billion deal between Paramount Global and creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone. The deal helped get Seasons 1-26 of South Park moved to Paramount+ and calls for the duo to produce 50 new episodes over the next five years. The premiere episode first played on cable's Comedy Central on Wednesday night before its Paramount+ debut on Thursday morning. By that time, the internet blew up over Parker and Stone's unmerciful comedic mockery of Trump. Among other things, the equal opportunity offenders gave the commander-in-chief small genitalia, put him in bed with Satan and had him entirely disrobe in a live-action AI deepfake 'public service announcement.' One thing Paramount+ has not been clear about so far with South Park Season 27 is when the new episodes air and what time they begin streaming on the platform. As such, outlets including this one and The Hollywood Reporter reported last week that the episodes would be airing weekly once the new season got underway. As of early Tuesday morning, USA Today reported that Episode 2 of the new season would be released on Wednesday, July 30, on Comedy Central and July 31 on Paramount. Now, however, Paramount+ has unexpectedly switched things up and the show has gone on hiatus for a week. Comedy Central announced Tuesday (via Deadline) that the next episode will not be released on July 30 and 31 on Comedy Central and Paramount+ and instead noted that the season will resume on Wednesday, Aug. 6, on the cable channel. That means, of course, that Episode 2 will not be streaming on Paramount+ until Aug. 7. Another thing Paramount+ still has not been forthcoming about is exactly what time the new episodes premiere on the streaming platform. As of this publication, an email to the show's PR representatives at Paramount+ has not been answered. What Will 'South Park' Season 27 Episode 2 Be About? In a promotional video teasing the return of South Park Season 27 Episode 2 on Tuesday (see above), the show kept up its mockery of President Donald Trump, this time by showing him rub Satan's leg under a dinner table. The promo teaser, which runs 20 seconds, also shows Cartman engaged in a debate about abortion with another student at South Park Elementary, with PC 'Power Christian' Principal standing behind him. In addition, the promo shows Mr. Garrison riding in an ICE vehicle with ICE officers holding a weapon and covering up his face. Whether the clips featuring Trump, Cartman and Garrison end up in the Aug. 6 episode is yet to be seen. During an appearance at San Diego Comic Con last Thursday (via Deadline), Trey Parker assured fans that the shows will remain topical and no episodes will be canned presentations. 'You seriously think we made a bunch of shows ahead of time and baked them for later? We're not doing any of that,' Parker told the crowd at Comic Con (via Deadline). According to the trade publication, Comedy Central will re-air the premiere episode on Wednesday, July 30. It is already streaming on Paramount+. South Park Season 27 Episode 2 will return to cable's Comedy Central on Aug. 8 and streaming on Paramount+ on Aug. 9.

New Updates For Taika Waititi and Shawn Levy's Upcoming STAR WARS Movies — GeekTyrant
There's been movement in the galaxy far, far away. Lucasfilm's Star Wars slate is finally showing signs of life with two highly anticipated projects, Taika Waititi's long-gestating film and Shawn Levy's Star Wars: Starfighter , both getting new updates. Waititi's mysterious Star Wars project has been in development limbo since it was first announced five years ago. Now, it finally has a working title: Cosmic Doom . The production will reportedly go by the name Ghost Truck 6 , according to Nexus Point News. Details about the plot are still under tight wraps, but Waititi is set to direct from a script written by Oscar-nominated screenwriter Tony McNamara ( The Favourite , Poor Things ). Despite the delays, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy remains optimistic about the project and is allowing Waititi full creative breathing room. 'Taika is on Taika time. I've just continually said to him, look, when you feel that you're ready and you can really devote the time, we're going to do it. We'll be waiting. I'm just hoping we get there. That will be a great Star Wars movie.' Waititi previously talked about the project, saying: "I've been developing [the Star Wars film] for a few years, but I think with any film, but that one in particular, it's something I'd really like to get right, so I don't want to rush it. It's going to bubble along on the side." "I wanna capture that joy and entertainment of those early ones like The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi and all those ones, so I'm trying to figure that out. It'll happen." The director also came out and said: "It will pause...a Taika Waititi film. It's gonna piss people off." Waititi has explained that he's looking to create something new with the franchise and expand the universe beyond all of the characters and locations that we're familiar with. While Waititi's film still doesn't have a release date, Shawn Levy's Star Wars: Starfighter is much further along. The studio is targeting a production start this September in London with filming expected to wrap in December. The movie, starring Ryan Gosling and Mia Goth, is set for a theatrical release on May 28, 2027. Initially developed under the working title Kyber Mist with the production name Blue Mist Productions , Starfighter is described as a standalone story set five years after the events of The Rise of Skywalker . According to the studio, the film 'is an entirely new adventure featuring all-new characters set in a period of time that has not been explored on screen yet.' With both films promising fresh characters and timelines outside the main Skywalker saga, these updates mark a hopeful shift for Star Wars storytelling on the big screen. It's been a quiet stretch for the franchise theatrically, but things are starting to look more active on the hyperspace horizon.
