Benedita Formosinho arrives at Relógio, in Cascais, with a timeless collection
We're at the launch of the brand's third space, which joins the original Setúbal location and their spot at Embaixada in Príncipe Real, Lisbon. Now based in Cascais, in the former Paços do Concelho building, the new store at Relógio – Slow Retail boasts 65 square metres, two entrances, neighbours like HLC Jewellery and Saints at Sea, large windows letting in plenty of sunshine, a cosy sofa, and plenty of room to explore the collections at your own pace. 'We weren't actively looking, but when the opportunity came up, it just made perfect sense. The atmosphere, the location, the space, all that light, the proximity to the sea…' lists Benedita. 'I need calm spaces and contact with nature. In Setúbal, where I'm from, I find all of that – and here too'.
On the hangers, garments in natural tones shine, with cuts that blend different textures and materials. On the walls, the brand's mottos are displayed – 'What we do matters' and 'Our waste isn't waste' – alongside framed moodboards explaining the creative and production process. 'People need to be informed to make conscious choices', says Perpétua. 'We don't want to be just a space where people find pieces to buy. By sharing the story of how we make things, what materials we use, the durability, the colour, the design, we're providing important information'.
Sustainability and circularity are taken very seriously here, in contrast to fleeting trends or constantly rotating collections (some pieces carry over from one collection to the next). Waste is transformed into new yarn – which is sold by the skein (€5.50) or used to create new pieces, like the Tulipa jumper (€145) and the Luna blouse (€179). 'This was a project of great resilience and dedication. We really believed in it, but it was tough convincing a Portuguese factory to accommodate the waste of a micro-business. We kept pushing, never gave up', continues Perpétua, the more practical half of the duo.
The use of Portuguese raw materials and a deep connection to heritage are other core values – and they led to the brand's big new addition: unisex shoes made with Alentejo wool blankets.
'My mum and family are from Alentejo, and we want to reconnect with our roots. When we visited the blanket factory in Reguengos de Monsaraz, where they still use traditional 20th-century looms, it was truly inspiring – we were amazed. We started with coats [Selenite, €456], but we really wanted to introduce shoes', explains Benedita. Currently available in a single design, they come in sizes 36 to 44 and cost €176.
The latest collection, Terra, blends the fresh feel of linen and hemp with soft, breathable organic cotton. Alongside the natural tones, terracotta brown adds warmth to the colour palette.
Key pieces include the Amarílis blouse (€110), featuring burel netting, the Hibísco top (€110), and the Buganvília dress (€142) – both with gathered straps, horizontal pleats, and delicate buttons down the back. Another new development is the expanded size range, now from 32 to 44. After all, Benedita Formosinho is a family affair, and the pieces are designed for all ages.

Ruben Amorim's new dream Man Utd XI with Benjamin Sesko joined by £100m Premier League star
Manchester United have taken a targeted approach during the summer transfer window to give Ruben Amorim more of an idea of how his best team will look this season Ruben Amorim has been given a full pre-season with his Manchester United squad for the first time, and he'll hope it does the business. The Portuguese has the team playing in his preferred three-at-the-back system, and has already added the likes of Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo to the roster. Benjamin Sesko is next in line, with the Slovenian opting for United over rivals Newcastle. Profit and Sustainability regulations may limit what else can be done, but some high-profile exits could yet free up funds. Marcus Rashford's wages are off the books after his loan move to Barcelona, while Jadon Sancho is expected to join Juventus once the Turin club can shift some players themselves. Antony, Alejandro Garnacho and Rasmus Hojlund are among the others potentially available for the right price, though Harry Maguire is staying put. Aside from the new-look front-line, United have looked into midfield reinforcements in the form of Carlos Baleba. The Brighton star could set them back a cool £100million, though, and that may be a tall order this summer. If United do get both deals done, though, Amorim will face the task of working out how to put all his talented players on the pitch at once. Here, Mirror Football looks at how he might manage it. Goalkeeper and defence Despite their lowly finish last term, United actually conceded fewer goals than top-half finishers Brentford and Brighton and only three more than sixth-place Aston Villa. It may be for this reason that Amorim has decided against major surgery at the back. Andre Onana remains United's first-choice keeper for now despite some high-profile errors last term. He should be helped by the return of Lisandro Martinez after a long-term injury, with the Argentine sorely missed towards the tail end of last season, though it remains to be seen how soon he'll be Premier League ready. Martinez will be first choice on the left of the back three, with Leny Yoro on the right and Matthijs de Ligt between them. Harry Maguire will also be an option in the middle, with the former captain expected to extend his contract, while the versatile Noussair Mazraoui can expect to get minutes at centre-back or wing-back depending on the opposition. Midfield We're including those wing-back roles as part of the midfield here, for simplicity's sake. Here, the likes of Mazraoui and Diogo Dalot remain options, but United's best XI may well be one with the more attack-minded Amad and Patrick Dorgu out wide. In the middle, signings further up the field are expected to push captain Bruno Fernandes into a deeper role for the most part. Baleba would be his natural partner if a deal can be done, providing a ball-winning option alongside the Portugal star. If Baleba stays at Brighton, though, Manuel Ugarte and Casemiro will battle it out for that other spot. Toby Collyer and Kobbie Mainoo will also have a role to play, though there were times last term when Amorim appeared keen to play Mainoo further forward. Attack United scored just 44 league goals last season. Cunha, Mbeumo and Sesko scored 48 between them, which our rudimentary maths leads us to believe is more than 44. The addition of £74m man Sesko could well help ease the pressure on £72m Hojlund, too. However, without European football to share the workload around, there may be questions over the minutes afforded to the Dane. Joshua Zirkzee will provide a solid rotation option, and showed last season that he could be handy when not being asked to put up the kind of goal numbers he has never put up in his career. There will also be times when Fernandes plays behind the striker to accommodate an extra defensive midfielder - perhaps even for the opening game against Arsenal if Amorim doesn't want to throw all three new boys in at once.

Nextil sells Portugal production facilities in 4.4 million euros deal
Madrid – Spanish textile multinational Nextil, which currently operates its main production hubs in Portugal and Guatemala, is continuing to optimise its business model with the sale of all its production facilities in northern Portugal. This transaction, executed under a sale and leaseback agreement, allows the company to continue operating at the same sites, now as a tenant. According to details shared by Nextil's management, the group has sold all its Portuguese production facilities—located in the districts of Braga and Viana do Castelo—for 4.4 million euros. The deal was executed through its subsidiaries Sici 93, which specialises in fashion garments, swimwear, and luxury textiles, and Playvest, which focuses on sports fabrics and apparel. A 25-year lease agreement has been signed with the new property owner, ensuring uninterrupted operations at these sites. 'The Nextil Group has successfully completed the sale of all its production facilities in northern Portugal in a €4.4 million sale and leaseback transaction,' the company said, adding that the long-term lease guarantees full continuity of its industrial operations, preserves production stability, and maintains its presence in the region. Management emphasised that the move marks a significant step in the company's industrial and financial transformation, aimed at consolidating a model that blends profitability, sustainability, and long-term growth. This divestment forms part of Nextil's 2024–2026 Strategic Plan, first introduced to investors and the market in June 2024. The plan outlines the group's roadmap for transformation and expansion in the coming years. Of the 4.4 million euros raised, 740,000 euros will be used to cancel the mortgage debt on the sold properties. The transaction is expected to generate an accounting profit of approximately 2 million euros. The entire proceeds from the sale will be reinvested to support Nextil's acquisition strategy, specifically to strengthen its footprint in the premium and luxury fashion segment, reinforcing its position as a strategic supplier to high-end European brands. As part of its inorganic growth strategy, which involves expansion through acquisitions rather than internal development alone, Nextil announced in April 2025 its intent to acquire a Portuguese company specialising in luxury textiles. The move is expected to scale up operations within its luxury garments division, currently anchored by Sici 93, which reported revenues of 21.4 million euros in 2024. The group projects that this division could reach 30 million euros in revenue by 2026, even without factoring in the contributions from the upcoming acquisition—demonstrating the strong organic growth potential Nextil sees within its existing operations. In summary Nextil has sold its production plants in northern Portugal for 4.4 million euros through a "sale & leaseback" transaction. The funds obtained will be used to cancel mortgage debt and finance the company's acquisition plan, especially in the luxury fashion segment. This divestment is part of Nextil's 2024-2026 Strategic Plan, the implementation of which seeks to consolidate a model of profitability, sustainability and long-term expansion. Benjamin Sesko to immediately get four strict rules at Man Utd as £74m transfer nears
Manchester United are on the verge of securing a £74million deal for RB Leipzig striker, Benjamin Sesko, but the star will have to adhere to a number of Ruben Amorim's strict rules at Old Trafford Benjamin Sesko will have to adhere to a host of new rules should he join Manchester United. The Red Devils are reportedly closing in on a £74million deal for the RB Leipzig striker. Despite stiff competition from Newcastle United, Sesko favours a move to Old Trafford. And with Manchester United said to be back in talks with Leipzig on Thursday, a deal could be struck any day now. However, the 22-year-old may be in for a stark wake-up call should he arrive in the northwest, given how Ruben Amorim has wasted no time in laying down the law since his own arrival last November. The Portuguese tactician has implemented a number of new rules since taking over from Erik ten Hag, with hopes of turning the tide at United. The first major rule that the 40-year-old implemented upon his arrival was banning his coaches from dishing out complex instructions, with the ideology that things need to be simplified before they are passed down. He also decided to ban players from using international breaks as holiday opportunities, after Marcus Rashford and Casemiro jetted off to the United States in November for leisure after being left out of their respective national teams. Amorim said of the changes: "We as a club have to set the standards and manage that. It's my decision if they can have five days, or three days, or three days to rest and you cannot fly. This is something that us as a club have to decide. So this must be started in the club, with us and me being responsible in that area." Elsewhere, Amorim has also banned food in the dressing room on matchdays after emphasising that he looks to prioritise physical fitness within his team, while the fourth rule that Amorim has put in place sees losing teams in training sessions forced to pick up equipment used on the day. It appears that Amorim has upped his standards heading into pre-season, following a disastrous Premier League campaign that saw the Red Devils finish 15th in the league standings. Diogo Dalot has stressed that the club may not be for everyone at present. Speaking about Amorim's way of doing things, the Portugal international said: "If you want to be in Manchester United, you need to match some standards. If you can't match them, it's not a place for you. The message is really clear." Amorim's side have made a decent impression in his first pre-season at the club. The Red Devils held a newly-promoted Leeds United to a goalless draw last month, before embarking on their Premier League Summer Series tour of the United States. There, the side secured 2-1 and 4-1 wins over West Ham and Bournemouth, as well as a 2-2 draw with Everton. The side are now set to return to Old Trafford to face Fiorentina on Saturday, before their Premier League opener against Arsenal lands on Sunday, August 17.
