Fat Joe accused of coercion, intimidation, sex with minors in ex-hype man's lawsuit

Yahoo4 hours ago

Terrance "T.A." Dixon, once a hype man to rapper Fat Joe, has sued his former employer for $20 million, making some allegations that might blend right in at Sean "Diddy" Combs' RICO and sex-trafficking trial.
The federal lawsuit, filed Thursday in U.S. District Court in the Southern District of New York and reviewed by The Times, alleges that the rapper underpaid Dixon, cut him out of promised pay for contributing to album tracks, defrauded authorities about his income, ditched Dixon in foreign countries without money or transportation home and is running a criminal organization built on intimidation and violence.

The lawsuit alleges that Fat Joe forced the hype man — a sort of backing vocalist who pumps up the audience — into approximately 4,000 sex acts with women in front of him and his crew.
The 54-year-old rapper, born Joseph Antonio Cartagena, is also accused of having sexual relationships with girls who were 15 and 16. The allegations go back to when the rapper was in his late 30s, the lawsuit says. Fat Joe's song "She's My Mama," which has graphically sexual lyrics, was based on what is alleged to have happened with him and one of the girls in real life, the lawsuit says.
The lawsuit states that Dixon's role over about 16 years was more than that of the usual hype man. He "consistently" had duties that included co-writing lyrics, structuring hooks, recording background vocals, performing at more than 200 live shows as Fat Joe's primary onstage counterpart and managing travel logistics, including equipment transport, security and emergency arrangements. The complaint alleges that Dixon also acted as Joe's bodyguard and handler during tours.
According to the filing, Dixon wrote or co-wrote tracks including 'Congratulations,' 'Money Over Bitches,' 'Ice Cream,' 'Cupcake,' 'Blackout,' 'Dirty Diana,' 'Porn Star,' 'Okay Okay,''No Problems,' a version of "All the Way Up,' '300 Brolic,' 'All I Do Is Win (Remix verse),' 'Red Café (Remix),' 'Winding on Me,' 'Cocababy' and 'Get It for Life."

The complaint alleges that Dixon was not properly paid for his efforts, even though he says he was promised certain ownership percentages and documented credit on songs that Fat Joe released commercially. Dixon, who left Fat Joe's team in 2020, was unable to obtain certain evidence of wrongdoing until a person named as "Accountant Doe" came forward last year with information, the lawsuit says.
Fat Joe "exercised sole control over contracts, budgets, tour management, licensing, and credit attribution and intentionally omitted Plaintiff's name from liner notes, publishing registrations, and royalty structures, despite Plaintiff's direct contributions to these works' creative and commercial success," the complaint says.
Joe Tacopina, an attorney for Fat Joe, called the lawsuit "a blatant attack of retaliation" and labeled the allegations "complete fabrications" that his client denies in a statement to Variety. Retaliation referred to the slander lawsuit that the rapper filed against Dixon in April after the former hype man accused him on social media of flying a 16-year-old across state lines for sex.
Dixon's attorney, Tyrone Blackburn, is also representing producer Lil Rod (Rodney Jones) in his $30-million federal lawsuit filed last year against Sean "Diddy" Combs and others in Combs' orbit, in which Lil Rod alleged sexual harassment and sexual assault. A judge tossed out a majority of Lil Rod's allegations against Combs in late March.

Both lawsuits include trigger warnings in bright red type ahead of the allegations — something not often seen in such documents.
'Fat Joe is Sean Combs minus the Tusi [pink cocaine],' Blackburn said in a statement to the Independent. 'He learned nothing from his 2013 federal conviction,' the attorney added, referencing Fat Joe's four-month sentence and $15,000 fine in a plea deal for failure to file a tax return in multiple years on more than $3.3 million in income.
In addition to Fat Joe, defendants in the new lawsuit include Peter 'Pistol Pete' Torres, Richard 'Rich Player' Jospitre, Erica Juliana Moreira and several companies —including Roc Nation — that are affiliated with the rapper. Dixon is asking for a jury trial.

New York Currently ensconced in the Frick Collection's new Ronald S. Lauder Exhibition Galleries, 'Vermeer's Love Letters' is an intimate installation of three staggeringly beautiful works by the Dutch artist Johannes Vermeer (1632-75), and the first loan show to be presented in the recently restored museum, which reopened on April 17. Organized by guest curator Robert Fucci from the University of Amsterdam, it heralds the magnificent possibilities the Frick's reconfigured spaces allow.

12 of the Best Movies Peacock Has to Offer

Simply put, Peacock has the movies you want to watch. When we talk about the epic titles available to watch on streaming, the conversation tends toward powerhouse streamers like Netflix and Prime Video. As you can conclude from this article, the NBC Universal-owned platform absolutely should be included. It's jam-packed with epic films that would easily elevate any movie night. This should come as no surprise; Universal Pictures is responsible for the very first blockbuster -- Happy 50th Birthday, Jaws! -- and has shelled out box office-busting, Oscar-caliber films for more than a century. Yes, the content roster here is pretty epic. With exclusive streaming rights to popular titles like Wicked, Peacock is a formidable streamer to reckon with. I'll be honest with you, here: Putting this list together was challenging. There's a large selection of high-quality flicks worth watching on Peacock and I found it hard to narrow down this guide to something manageable. But I did it and the 12 titles listed below are the cream of the crop. Whether you're looking for the cinematic spectacle of Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer, the comedic excellence of Robin Williams and Nathan Lane in The Birdcage, or action hits like Jurassic Park and The Matrix, you'll find a flick worth hitting the Play button on by the time you reach the bottom of the page. Scroll on to see for yourself. Read more: Peacock Review: Few Originals, but Cheap Access to Network TV, Movies May Grab You Universal Pictures Jurassic Park What is there to be said about Jurassic Park that hasn't already been said? Steven Spielberg brought Michael Crichton's hit book to life and pretty much changed how dinosaurs were depicted on screen. This movie was a big deal when it premiered and showcased an array of jaw-dropping special effects. Three decades later, the franchise continues to expand. But as awesome as it is to see dinos dominate the big screen, these movies never achieve the glory of the original. Lionsgate John Wick As you'll see, this list includes two movies starring Keanu Reeves. I didn't plan this but Peacock has the John Wick and Matrix franchises, which are extremely watchable. I'd argue that all of the John Wick movies are worth streaming but the first installment has that special energy of an original story spreading its wings. And to think, all this could've been avoided if they hadn't messed with John Wick's dog. Screenshot by Abrar Al-Heeti/CNET Erin Brockovich Julia Roberts won the Oscar for her lead role in Steven Soderbergh's Erin Brockovich, and for good reason: She's an absolute powerhouse in this. The movie is based on Brockovich's life and her evolution from divorced mother of three to formidable investigative paralegal who, under the mentorship of Albert Finney's Ed, took on Pacific Gas & Electric and exposed them for contaminating the water supply of a local community. Lionsgate Dirty Dancing Patrick Swayze showcased all the right moves in 1987's Dirty Dancing. He may not have used his dance skills in many of his films but his work as Johnny Castle in this sleeper hit helped put him on the map. The movie follows a 17-year-old girl named Frances (or "Baby" for those in the know), who takes a summer trip to a Catskills resort with her family and falls in love with the bad boy dance instructor. My advice: Ignore the questionable age gap between the two and, instead, lean into the cheesy romance of it Birdcage Mike Nichols directed this comedy classic, inspired by the 1978 French movie La Cage aux Folles. Led by Robin Williams and Nathan Lane, the movie follows the story of an out and proud gay couple who must hide their relationship when the conservative parents of their son's fiancée come to visit. Gene Hackman and Dianne Weist are fantastic, and Hank Azaria's Agador Spartacus steals the show. Gramercy Pictures The Big Lebowski Look, what can be said about The Big Lebowski that hasn't already been said? This is the Coen brothers at their most iconic. Jeff Bridges's take on the role solidified the actor as a pop culture legend, and his laid-back vibe helps to deliver the craziness that transpires throughout the entire film. John Goodman, Steve Buscemi, Julianne Moore, John Turturro, Sam Elliott and even Flea from the Red Hot Chili Peppers all deliver memorable performances. If you've never seen this one, you're in for quite a ride. And if you have, isn't it about time for a rewatch? Screenshot by Aaron Pruner/CNET The Matrix The Wachowskis kicked the sci-fi genre in the teeth when The Matrix premiered in theaters in 1999. The movie, which spawned a series of sequels, an animated spin-off and a string of comic books, tells the tale of Neo (Keanu Reeves) a man who grapples with the concept that our reality isn't real at all and, in the process of dealing with that brain-breaker, he's also part of a resistance movement in a dystopian nightmare where he's acknowledged as the potential savior of humanity. Hey, no big deal, right? Not only did this movie propel Reeves into a blockbuster superstar but it also introduced groundbreaking special effects that helped push the genre and filmmaking itself into the 21st century. Universal Pictures Jaws Jaws turns 50 years old this year, which is a crazy thing to type. Steven Spielberg's action movie about a vengeful shark changed the way movies are made. This right here was the first-ever summer blockbuster -- for a reason. The movie is full of Alfred Hitchcock-style suspense but what makes it so watchable is the dynamic between the lead actors Roy Scheider, Richard Dreyfuss and Robert Shaw. Come for Quint's (Shaw) epic drunk monologue, stay for the unnerving 4 (yes 4) minutes that the great white is actually on screen. Universal Pictures Wicked The big-budget, big-screen musical adaptation of the hit Broadway play, which stars Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba and Ariana Grande as Glinda, took the box office by storm. Wicked -- which is the first half of a two-movie journey -- follows the duo, who become unlikely friends during their time as students at Shiz University, and gives a look at the Land of Oz before Dorothy's house landed on the Wicked Witch of the East. Universal Pictures Oppenheimer Christopher Nolan's Oscar-winning film explores the life of J. Robert Oppenheimer (played to perfection by Cillian Murphy), the physicist who played a pivotal role in developing the atomic bomb. The story unfolds throughout various points of Oppenheimer's life, offering a well-rounded and thought-provoking look at the man who pushed the world to the brink. The production value, direction and performances by its ensemble cast resulted in an epic cinematic experience. It's no wonder the movie brought home the Academy Award for Best Picture.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day Is Bringing In A Marvel TV Fan-Favorite, And Now I'm Curious How This Is Going To Work

When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. There's almost never an easy way to introduce a Marvel character to the big screen. I know that the 2025 movie schedule just may prove us wrong, if it hasn't already, but I think the biggest WTF is about to be dropped onto the MCU table. That's because it's just been announced that another Marvel TV character is about to debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe's 2026 slate, thanks to Spider-Man: Brand New Day. And considering who they brought in for No Way Home, this seems like a pretty dead giveaway. That's right, kids… it's Frank 'The Punisher' Castle! Jon Bernthal is now set to make his MCU debut on the big screen, as THR broke the news that he's now in director Destin Daniel Cretton's upcoming Marvel movie. That's surely enough to distract us all from trying to guess Sadie Sink's mysterious Brand New Day role, or what this means about Vincent D'Onofrio's 'off limits' comments when talking about a Kingpin intro, right? It's kind of wild that we're now seeing our second street level defender jumping in through the Spider-Man movies. As I previously alluded, Charlie Cox's Matt Murdock appeared in Spider-Man: No Way Home before he made his huge resurgence in Daredevil: Born Again. And when it comes to Peter Parker (Tom Holland), having him potentially pick up The Punisher's anti-hero as a mentor makes sense, both in the comics and in the wake of No Way Home's ending. We're about to see Peter enter a new era of his life, where he'll potentially be balancing a job at the Daily Bugle and classes with Dr. Otto Octavius. Hence the Brand New Day subtitle, which also cleverly works in a reference to the comic arc that saw Peter Parker embark on a massive redo after the 'One Day More' arc. Disney Plus + Hulu Bundle: From $10.99 A MonthFor as little as $10.99 a month ($19.99 a month, ad-free), you can unite the powers of the Disney+ and Hulu libraries! Not only can you catch most of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in this singular streaming home, but the worlds of Star Wars and classic Disney viewing are also at your finger tips. And yes, if you go to the Hulu side of the house, that includes the original Netflix run of The Punisher. View Deal I'll leave all of the details to the comic inclined, but with Peter Parker not having MJ or Ned by his side, he's going to need some new side characters to help him through. While I wouldn't have automatically chosen Jon Bernthal's Frank Castle for the job in a PG-13 movie, I'm now deeply curious to see how this ends up working. Spider-Man: Brand New Day is set to hit theaters on July 26, 2026! And if you want to see what Frank Castle has been up to as of late, then you can stream the first season of Daredevil: Born Again, currently available on Disney+. Maybe there's a clue to this upcoming team up that we've missed, hiding in plain sight.
