After the terrorist attack in Pahalgam on April 22, India's diplomatic response to Pakistan has focused on 'non-kinetic' measures: suspending the Indus Waters Treaty (IWT), curtailing water flow through the Baglihar dam on the Chenab river, banning imports, and shutting ports for Pakistan-owned ships.
India is also set to red-flag the International Monetary Fund's (IMF's) fresh $1.3 billion loan tranche for Pakistan, expected to be taken up by its board at its meeting in Washington on May 9. New Delhi plans to sensitise other global entities and lenders — like the World Bank — on their engagements with Islamabad.

The Indian Armed Forces' on May 7 launched precision strikes under Operation Sindoor and dismantled nine major terror camps associated with the Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Hizbul Mujahideen in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoK). Five of the nine terror camps were located in PoJK, and the other four in Pakistan. The strikes came in response to the Pahalgam terror attack in which 26 people were killed. Among the destroyed camps in Pakistan, Muridke and Bhawalpur stand out as they not only serve as residences for major commanders but also serve as epicentres for radicalisation and various training courses on intelligence and arms handling for Laskar as well as Jaish-e-Mohammad. Among the key terror operatives eliminated in the operation was Rauf Azhar, the brother-in-law of Maulana Masood Azhar, the Jaish Chief. Rauf Azhar, a proscribed terrorist, is wanted for his part in the conspiracy to hijack IC-814. (ANI)

'Diaspora hopes one day PoK will become part of India': All-party delegation member Samik Bhattacharya in Berlin
Berlin [Germany], June 7 (ANI): BJP MP Samik Bhattacharya, a member of the all-party delegation led by BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad, on Saturday highlighted the overwhelming enthusiasm of the Indian diaspora across the six countries visited by the delegation, noting their strong hope and belief that Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) will one day be reunited with India. Following an interaction at a community event in Berlin, Bhattacharya stated that all the nations they visited condemned terrorism and supported India's fight against it. 'There is a lot of enthusiasm among the Indian diaspora in the six countries we visited... They hope that Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) will become a part of India... All the countries we visited condemned terrorism and stand with India in the fight against terrorism,' the BJP MP said. Meanwhile, former Deputy National Security Advisor Pankaj Saran noted the delegation's success in conveying India's message and gaining international support against terrorism, praising the unity and effectiveness of the MPs who were part of the delegation. 'Mission accomplished... It has been a hectic tour. Every day was critical. The objectives have been achieved. We visited all the major European capitals... We conveyed our message and got good responses... India's story has been understood. There is no pressure on India... They see India as a clear, emerging major global power... All credit goes to our Members of Parliament; they were fantastic... They were united in the message. I am very proud to be a part of this delegation,' Saran stated. Earlier, BJP MP and delegation leader Ravi Shankar Prasad described the visit to Germany to convey India's resolute and united stand against terrorism as highly successful, noting that Germany has condemned terrorism as well as expressed solidarity with India. Following an interaction at a community event in Berlin, Prasad highlighted the enthusiasm of the Indian diaspora inspired by India's growth under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership and emphasised that the delegation's concerns were heard across six countries, with their mission to expose Pakistan-sponsored terrorism gaining traction. 'There is a lot of enthusiasm among Indians in Berlin. They are very inspired by India's growth story and the action taken by the country against terrorists under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi. Our visit to Germany has been very good. Germany has also condemned terrorism. We are very satisfied with the visit. We were given a lot of respect in the six countries we visited, and our concerns were heard, and our stance has been made clear,' Prasad stated. The delegation, led by Prasad, also includes BJP MP Daggubati Purandeswari, Congress MP Amar Singh and Gulam Ali Khatana, Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi, AIADMK MP M Thambidurai and former Union Minister MJ Akbar. "Life returning to normal, have not forgotten that terrible dream...": Poonch resident as Op Sindoor marks one month
Poonch (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], June 8 (ANI): As Operation Sindoor, launched by Indian armed forces in retaliation for the Pahalgam terror attack, marks one month on Sunday, people living near the Indo-Pakistan border in Poonch district said that life is slowly returning to normal after the ceasefire with schools opening and people getting back to their routine. 'Uss bhayanak khwab ko bhule toh nahi hain, lekin bhoolne ki koshish kar rahe hain. (We haven't forgotten that terrible dream, but are trying to forget it),' said Pradeep Khanna, a local resident in Poonch. Speaking to ANI on Saturday, Khanna said, 'Operation Sindoor was launched to avenge the Pahalgam terrorist attack that claimed the lives of 26 people. Prime Minister Narendera Modi said that the terrorists would be given a befitting reply, which they received. On intervening May 6-7, nine terrorist hideouts in Pakistan were destroyed. After that firing took place here in Poonch, which is also called the battlefield of Jammu and Kashmir.' 'After the ceasefire, life is slowly returning to normal. Schools have reopened, and people are returning to their works. We haven't forgotten that terrible dream, but are trying to forget it. We celebrated Eid al-Adha together with all the people here in unity. Operation Sindoor is not over yet. The people of Jammu and Kashmir are united in the fight against terrorism,' said Khanna. India launched Operation Sindoor on May 7 and struck nine terror sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied-Kashmir in response to a ghastly terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam last month in which 26 people were killed. After the attack, Pakistan retaliated with cross-border shelling across the Line of Control and Jammu and Kashmir as well as attempted drone attacks along the border regions, following which India launched a coordinated attack and damaged radar infrastructure, communication centres, and airfields across 11 airbases in Pakistan. After this, on May 10, an understanding of the cessation of hostilities between India and Pakistan was announced. (ANI)
