Farewell Bra Bull
SEDIBENG.- Zakes' Sports Corner want to take this opportunity to join South Africa football fraternity to mourn the passing of one of greatest football players to have to graced our football.
The passing of this former Kaizer Chiefs legend, Simon Lehoko, has brought lot of emotions and fond memories to Zakes' Sports Corner, I had a close and personal relationship with Ntate Lehoko. Zakes' Sports Corner didn't anticipate that one day I would be talking about 'Bra Bull' in past tense.
Gone without a goodbye!
I wrote a series of articles about Lehoko when he coached Vaal Professionals and even after he retired from football. Bra Bull would ask his son to call me to come to see him at his home in Sharpeville. He would share some great memories about South Africa football history and the formation of Vaal Professionals from Real X20 FC and how Orlando Pirates would come to play against Sharpeville selected squad at George Thabe Stadium.
Zakes' Sports Corner, however, must confess that Ntate Lehoko was not a happy man, too much happened which resulted to the downfall of the mighty Vaal Professionals. The club ownership dispute was one of the things that saw the end of 'Setla' in South African football. I would sit down with him as he related to yours truly, Zakes' Sports Corner, what went wrong in South African football. Despite being on a wheelchair Bra Bull was still strong and still remembered everything like it happened yesterday.
He had a sharp memory, remembering everything that happened both as a player and coach, he was well informed not only about football but life in general. I used to admire his intellect and wisdom. Bra Bull was not just a football person. In fact, he was a teacher by qualification. He goes without saying goodbye, and for us to have the last conversation before his departure.
Farwell Bra Bull, farewell!

Missing Comrades runner has been found
There was a major scare at the Comrades marathon on Sunday when race organisers declared runner Moira Harding to be missing. 'She is confirmed to have finished Comrades at 16:52, but has not been seen since,' the initial post read. 'Any information would be greatly appreciated.' On Monday morning it was then confirmed that Harding had been found and is alive, but there is still concern for her wellbeing. Garrith Jamieson, the director of ALS Paramedics, told The Witness publication that she was found in a critical condition and was being airlifted to hospital. 'A wide-scale search was launched and paramedics with SAPS and Metro Police Search and Rescue and Netcare 911 managed to locate the runner who was in a critical state of health on Point Road. 'Advanced Life Support Paramedics are currently treating the patient on scene before being transported to a nearby hospital for the urgent care she requires,' he said. Kaizer Chiefs XI next season with Mako, Salum, Appollis, Okon, Mayele
Kaizer Chiefs are looking to bolster all departments of their playing personnel this winter. Is this how their XI could look? Tanzanian goal-scoring midfielder Feisal Salum is a long-standing target. Meanwhile, Chiefs are contemplating moves for out-of-contract Orlando Pirates stars Thabiso Monyane and Paseka Mako. Bvuma; Miguel, Okon, Dortley, Mako; Cele, Salum; Lilepo, Duba, Appollis; Mayele. This exciting-looking XI would see Inacio Miguel shifted to a slightly unfamiliar right-back role, although the Angolan has played there before. A central pairing of Ime Okon and the hopefully fit-again Rushwin Dortley would have a combined age of only 44. Paseka Mako could prove to be a shrewd addition even if he only has two years left at the top level. Further up the pitch, Feisal Salum, Oswin Appollis and Fiston Mayele add goal-threat galore. Kaizer Chiefs top brass make their move for exciting young defender Pyramids striker Fiston Mayele. Image: Sydney Mahlangu/BackpagePix According to SABC Sport, 31-year-old Paseka Mako is in advanced talks with Kaizer Chiefs over a winter move. Stellenbosch full-back Fawaaz Basadien was initially their first choice. However, the Winelands club is reluctant to sell the Bafana man, whom they see as an indispensable member of their squad. It's somewhat of a surprise that Pirates let go of Mako. The nifty left-back made 26 appearances in the 2024-2025 campaign. Meanwhile, 34-year-old Deon Hotto faces an uncertain long-term future. 'Nabi is the Pep Guardiola of Africa' Is this an XI that can challenge for the league title? Let us know by leaving a comment below or sending a WhatsApp to 060 011 0211.
